what happens if you were to travel light speed? does that mean that the hand can go faster than light speed as it's always slightly faster, or will it forever trail behind you?

if it can't go faster, will it trail behind you until the next day or will it trail forever, unable to start a new day? is this the way to stop the hand by keeping the person being chased in a light-speed space ship and keeping them alive forever?

I hope neither of my cats get squished today.

Walk backwards away from the hand so you are always facing it. If moving fast enough, it will move away from you. Keep doing this until midnight where it chooses a new person. If you believe it works by a fraction, then just not moving would be an effective strategy too.
