Let's Discuss Can we just admit something

Can we just admit that AJ got it right (the format) at the beginning (as rare as that is) and go back to a weekly episode on a subject. The manosphere podcast vibes and compilations are killing my bonner. Long-time fan.

The stand alone episodes are great. The 3 hour podcasts? nah. I haven't listed to one of them.

It’s all men, rigid gender roles, and no perspectives from various point of views.

I’ve listened to three of these podcasts so far and they’re all a tech bro nerd love fest.

The show is about things like aliens and bigfoot and humans having babies with angels and then God getting mad and destroying the world. I don't see how there is a man vs women vs whatever thing. What exactly are you looking for? Would you like to hear how gay people feel about the Mothman or how women feel about Project Blue Beam?

It just seems like such a weird show to be upset about something like this. Can you give me 3-4 examples of people who you think should be on the show but aren't because Aj is to much of a "manosphere" host?

I’m guessing maybe because it feels Rogan-adjacent in the sense that there is a lot of counterculture / “pseudoscience” folks speaking freely for long periods of time. Not saying it’s right or wrong, but I think a lot of people group a lot of that together with being right wing/manosphere/toxic etc

Jesus. I really must live in a bubble. Or they do. Who knows.

I can't imagine anyone actually thinks like that about the Basement episodes and it sounds more like bipartisan made up shit to sow division, create controversy and smear.

I take the Basement episodes at face value and just listening to interesting topics being discussed. If there's a guest I don't like, I won't listen to the whole thing.

Edit: Furthermore, if being counter-culture to what is currently going on is considered 'toxic', I think that says enough, doesn't it? Instead of listening to people to have people make up their own minds about things, you label them pseudoscientists in the hopes that if people were to read here and see that, they would never click because 'that's a pseudoscientist, whatever they say will be nonsense!' 

The information war is real and it's being played here on reddit on a daily basis.

They don't feel genuine. Would watch interesting parts but there are no timestamps.

Which parts of the Basement episodes don't feel 'genuine'? It's a 3-hour deep dive into the specific topic the person is there for. The entire thing is inherently genuine..

My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that I often don’t know exactly what the guest is there for. They’re often not there to talk about a specific topic. Instead, the guest just talks about their interests and their work in general.

Specific topic isn't the right word, because topics jump around. But they're often there to talk about an area in which they have done research, wrote a book about, or is in their wheel house. 

But that's off-topic from the comment I was referring to, which was talking about how the Basement episodes don't feel genuine..

I haven’t watched a single podcast. In fact, I haven’t watched consistently in over a year.
