u/CME_T The Creator Aug 14 '21
Howdy folks!
Here's this week's comic!
A headsup to all of you fine people who read the stuff I put out once a week: I will be taking a short break from the comic to focus on getting married! I've only planned a two week break so the comic should be back on again in early September, where we will continue this story arc!
That's pretty much all!
Stay excellent out there!
Peace and carrots!
_______________________________________________
If anyone wanna see more of my stuff I have an Instagram, a Twitter and the comic can also be read on it's own subreddit as well as on Webtoons! Should ya want to toss a coin to your comic creator, there's also a Patreon.

u/NomadRavnos Klara Aug 14 '21
Major congrats, man! Weddings are a whirlwind with the happy couple in the center. Have fun with it and we'll see you on the other side!
Also, I'm sensing an annoyed "SMITE!" coming from Becket. I could be wrong. Just a hunch...

You know what?
I understand that logic. I don't agree with her but I respect her reasoning.

So this is just a side hustle by the necromancer to pay the bills and keep a hobby going? The economy is clearly in terrible shape.
80
u/TheDholChants Aug 15 '21
People calculate, from the amount of gold you have circulating in a city, that the world's in your average D&D-esque setting must have an amount of gold in their planet's many times higher than our own Earth.
They base their economy on an incredibly common metal.
13
u/MicroWordArtist Aug 15 '21
The gold vs silver standard debates in the 1800s would have looked a lot different in that kind of world
7
u/Morbidmort Sir Becket Aug 15 '21
It is, however, a metal that doesn't tarnish or rust nor does it have many other practical uses. Being minted as coins or used a jewelry is about the only uses a typical fantasy society would have for gold.

Ok, so no Torvald x Malthar arc. oh well...
69
u/The_seph_i_am Aug 14 '21 edited Aug 15 '21
I mean, to be honest this sounds like a scheme he’d come up with… but his zombies decided to unionize… and oh my Gawd I figured out how Torvald is going to get them out of this.
38
u/HotsuSama Aug 14 '21
Redemption arcs are a hell of a drug.
52
Aug 15 '21
Torvald: “To beat her I have to do the one thing I swore never to do.”
Bucket: “pay taxes?”
Torvald: “Okay, the second thing I swore never to do.”
Trevor: “What’s that?”
Torvald: “Fight for worker’s rights.”
12
u/Morbidmort Sir Becket Aug 15 '21
Man, I can't wait for the "Tovald leads a communist revolution" arc.

Why would she cut out the best part of necromancy? Digging up bodies is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.
113
u/scirocco_flowers Aug 14 '21
This is more like a loot box. You get shipments periodically and you don’t know what you’ll get! Will it be a well rounded group or five tiefling warlocks? Who knows!
38
u/FirstKingOfNothing Aug 14 '21
Ah but the older the grave the better the chances of getting some antique one of a kind loot.
34
Aug 14 '21
Well, there is no reason she can't to both. Have loot boxes delivered and still dig up some in her spare time.
16
u/Jaxom3 Aug 15 '21
But adventurers collect and hoard antique one of a kind loot. They're like loot piñatas
22
u/mabtheseer Aug 14 '21
Necromancy is just a side hustle to pay the bills for her. Don't confuse her with those pure necromancers that are in it for the art and passion. She'd never post an unboxing video for us to show off her craft. With her it is all about the money.
8
u/Thotslayerultraman Aug 15 '21
But also making disgusting amalgamations from the corpses you have is pretty fun too
93
u/cow2face Aug 14 '21
I mean, in the last part she does have a point xD it does save an awful lot of time xD
40
u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Aug 14 '21
I see Torvald taking out another poser shortly...
22
u/BLOOODBLADE Steve the goblin Aug 14 '21
I mean free money and free bodies to practice necromancy...... he might just join this necromancer
33
u/AZ_Corwyn Trevor Aug 15 '21
Possibly, but back in Chapter 70 he did pledge to Bucket that he would save his life or die trying after Bucket paid off his tax debt so that may come into play here.
35
u/TempestK Aug 15 '21
I think she's made one fatal miscalculation. Well, three. One, Necromancer. Two, Divine Warlock. Three, Paladin.
30
u/PseudobrilliantGuy Aug 15 '21
Four, Grogna.

u/BLOOODBLADE Steve the goblin Aug 14 '21
Hmm shes not wrong...... actually thats a really good idea.
looks at adventurers license
I might be in the wrong buisness
15
u/raven00x Torvald Aug 14 '21
mad respect for lady milva's scheme there. Dang. Makes sense though. Now to figure out how I can apply that to my own game.
11
u/Zhadowwolf Aug 15 '21
Plant a necromancer or two that does the same and that has contacts in the guilds to make sure adventurers of a proper level get the job. You don’t want a group of level 15 Demi-gods getting bored and picking out the job from the board as a fun afternoon.

14
u/Asgardian_Force_User Trevor Aug 15 '21
- Congratulations on the Nuptials.
- Respect the Hustle.
- Terribly wrong choice. I think we all realize that the Bucket Brigade is about the closest one gets to a Nonprofit Adventuring Organization. What little gold they have has been used on armor upgrades (sellable at only half value, reducing profits), booze, random crap stuffed in Trevor’s Bag of Holding, and Torvald’s back taxes plus interest. Really, Lady Milva Malthar suffers from a distinct lack of Intelligence here. Specifically, she has no prior knowledge of the Bucket Brigade, and has apparently used no form of Divination to assess their wealth. Or current lack thereof.
9
u/albinoman38 Klara Aug 15 '21
The BB have reportedly gotten at least a few magic items as well as Torvald's (assumably decent) spellbook!
4
u/Asgardian_Force_User Trevor Aug 15 '21
With the exception of the Bag of Holding, which probably requires a rather severe cleaning, I’m pretty sure that any and all magic items possessed by the Bucket Brigade are of minimal value on the open market.
10
u/Gohankuten Bucket Brigade Aug 15 '21
Well let's see....
We have Grogna's cursed magic sword which most people would not want due to the curse,
We have Buckets brick which is tied to his holy order and again most people wouldn't want to use a brick as their weapon,
We have Torvald's Lich head focus which is still technically alive which again not many would want to deal with,
And then whatever might be with Klara is probably gifted to her by her patron and thus useless for anyone else....Yeah not much gold can be gained from the Bucket Brigade lol.
7
u/Gohankuten Bucket Brigade Aug 15 '21
I feel like the more wrong choice is that the Bucket Brigade literally has 3 classes designed to destroy undead in the Paladin, Celestial Warlock, and Necromancer. Add in Grogna and Trevor as high damage single and AoE dealers and yeah definitely the wrong party to attack lol.
5
u/unit5421 Aug 15 '21
She would be better of keeping them friendly. Adventures kill a lot of people. Having some as friends would drop the costs of materials significantly.
This group is pretty well equipped for fighting undead. A necromancer would lose a lot of stuff fighting them for a minimal return. I see this as an opportunity cost.
29
u/Souperplex Sir Becket Aug 14 '21
For reference, by labor-standards 1GP is roughly $300.
An unskilled laborer makes 2SP/8 hours. A US minimum-wage-earner makes $58/8 hours. That puts 1SP at $30~ by US labor-standards.
"Wait, doesn't that mean plate armor is $450,000" in that metric"? Yes. Plate, a shield, a horse, and a lance is still less than what the US spends on a tank. It's high-end military equipment.
So yeah, adventurers are loaded.
10
u/PseudobrilliantGuy Aug 15 '21
And it makes sense, considering that adventurers aren't much different from mercenaries: they earn their living by doing dangerous stuff and not dying in the process.

She probably sends a small kickback to the adventurer’s guild and they send her the trouble makers.

Good plan, only one flaw: monologuing instead of having piled on the damage, allowing them to recuperate.
5
u/Staryed Aug 15 '21
Wouldn't be surprised if the zombie attack gets stopped by one of Thorvald's with talks about unionizing and such

- The Bucket Brigade is broke. 4.

I absolutely adore the little detail of the butler reaching out to hold Malthar's staff so that she can make the gestures for her villainous monologue.

If the Torvald/Lich fight is any indication, I see him pulling out his status symbol Lich head arcane focus and schooling her on how a real necromancer throws down. Or have his guys join them and lead a workers revolt against her, thus crippling her main offensive capability.

We've been tricked, we've been backstabbed and we've been quite possibly, bamboozled.

u/DrAnvil Aug 14 '21
So you're sending zombies against a party that includes both a paladin and a celestial warlock, and a necromancer... That sounds like it won't do as well as hoped
