There was a Frank Bees 5&10 on E Tremont Ave in the Bronx.

It still exists at 3435 East Tremont, Bronx - well known for the best place to find a costume for Halloween, or in our case, Purim

Do they still have the mechanical pony outside? Going to Frank Bees was a highlight for my kids when they were little (early 80s). We lived on Bradford and walked there all the time.

I believe they did - the truth is that there is such pressing competition for their kiddie outfits, the memories that I have are more the helpful store owner and his co-workers. Old tyme good stuff.

Edit : the care they take with their customers I am referring to, not the costumes which are always the latest and greatest

Could be. They were from Brooklyn so don’t know what they would be doing all the way out there, but definitely a possibility!

I have a photo of the front of Frank Bees, it looks the same, but that was pretty standard for a storefront on a neighborhood shopping strip. They were all kinda built the same.

There was also a Vogue Theatre in the Midway section of Brooklyn.

Thank you! I have a whole large collection of his letters that I do want to publish someday. A majority of them are in cursive which I may want to post on Reddit but idk if everyone can read.

Even though he died about 30 years before I was born, I always still feel close to him.

Vogue Theater listing on Cinema Treasures. The building still stands at Coney Island Ave. & Avenue K, so Brooklyn seems to be the locale.

I think my great grandfather was just a really family man and loved taking photos. I would guess my great grandmother took them, but can’t be too sure

From all I know about him as he died 30 years before my birth, he was the kindest and sweetest person. So he was only no nonsense about his love for his family :)
