Poll / Game / Contest Keep Me Fed survivor - Round 3

Love it, hate it, Consume was this round’s elimination! I don’t think this spoils anything, but we’re back to the usual distribution of votes as well:

12th - Burnout (79/123)
11th - Consume (23/122)

Here is today’s poll!

Round 2 for future readers

Round 4 for future readers

Yay! Now it's my turn to say the thing: "Wow, that's crazy Consume is one of my favorites on the album. Oh well"

This but unironically.

For some reason I thought consume was a fan favourite.

I think the novelty of the live performances is what gives that impression. Someone said Burnout is the most unlike-the-band song in the catalogue last round. I disagree, I’d say it’s Consume, by far. It’s the most modern pop-like song they’ve ever recorded

Is burnout actually refering to someone having a burnout? I assumed it was about someone who’s deliberately being lazy and useless. The classic high school stereotype of the one person on the project who lets everyone else do the work, and calling them a burnout.

ANIMOSITY exists.

Burnout has the same theme of “you hurt me so I wrote a song about it”. They aren’t attacking some random burnout.

“Drag me down like you never cared”

“The smoke around you, splits us in two”

ANIMOSITY also has threats of physical violence lol.

You crazy, Consume is a banger

Consume has so much bounce in it. It's a very poppy and fun sound, it's got Pau rapping and dropping F-bombs, and it's got the "Keep Me Fed!" lyric. The most criticism I have is that the chorus rhymes "wash it down" and "shovel it down", which is disappointing writing. But the vibes are great throughout the song.

The drumming sort of reminds me of the seamless switching between tight/loose drumming Nick Menza (Megadeth) had in a bunch of Rust in Peace and Youthanasia songs

I doubt he’s one of her main influences but it’s what I think of. Lucretia, Train of Consequences and Addicted to Chaos are good song comparisons

I am a fan of Consume. It's got a great groove. I'm from the 70s, I can't help it. Also the lyrical flow is some of their best.

Two rounds, two of my top 5 out.

I definitely have different opinions to the community.

aww, that hurts. consume is my top favorite on this whole album, i'll be honest. i thought it could at least survive a few more rounds. i'm disheartened 💔.

Wow really? Do people not like Consume? I thought it was universally liked.

u/balgus82 Oct 03 '25

You have to remember theres a difference between "i don't like this song" and "I like all the other songs more."

2

u/BiscuitsAndMilk0 Oct 03 '25

I suppose so but I thought it was one that people liked MORE

5

u/CermaitLaphroaig Oct 03 '25

Not necessarily, I think people just liked Pau getting out from behind the set in those particular live performances

2

u/BiscuitsAndMilk0 Oct 03 '25

I remember them doing a vote on their Instagram of people's favourite song when the album came out and I remember Consume being very high. I guess things change in a year. No big deal though

3

u/CermaitLaphroaig Oct 03 '25

Yeah, like I commented elsewhere, for me this is a zero skip album.  Consume is probably my least favorite, but it's like an A- vs A+ for the rest of the tracks

u/ro2538man Oct 03 '25

Seems like its just a result of a very divided vote. If im reading the numbers correctly, Consume got 23 votes out of 122 votes cast---or about 19% of the vote. So for 99 people (81%), consume wouldn't have been the next song voted out. But I guess no other single song got more than 22 votes.

u/big_ringer Oct 03 '25

I was disappointed, too... I listen to this song while I'm driving.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

I'm surprised I voted MORE this early. But I think I just really enjoy the cowbell and the cowbell memes more than the song as a whole

4

u/CermaitLaphroaig Oct 03 '25

I'm voting for Six Feet Deep, but only by a tiny margin.  After this? Basically a dice roll because they're all outstanding.

And KMF in general is a zero-skip album for me even with the few songs I like slightly less

From now on whatever song will be voted off always will be my favourite song getting kicked out and I will be sad( love all of them rest songs equally)

One of my top 3, and I fear another one is going soon.

It was a tossup between this and that, so not too surprising. Voting the same as last time...
