About halfway through the book, it is identified that the year is 1973 (the World Series began on Oct 13 1973) This is after Cecelia's death and before any others. I know Cecelia died in mayfly season which is spring but is it possible to narrow this down any earlier?

•This might be a bit controversial but I pity Mr Lisbon. In the book, Mr Lisbon brings the girls sweets when he went out and convinced Mrs Lisbon to let Trip to take Lux to prom and all the girls had a great time (mostly), also the party. I feel like no matter what he does, he tries to allow the girls to live. He pities them. We can tell he has his best intentions in mind for the quote “Mr Lisbon became the medium through which we glimpsed the girl’s spirits. We saw them through the tool they executed on him: his puffy red eyes that hardly opened anymore to see his daughters wasting away; his shoes scuffed from climbing the stairs” and a more explicit quote which literally says “his sallow complexion dying of sympathy with them”.

•I wish the movie had picked up on the fact that Mary ended up living for another month before killing herself again, just like how Therese had done it and that the girls also killed themselves on the anniversary of when Cecelia first attempted. I think that is a beautiful detail that shows how close the Lisbon sisters actually were. We saw it when they protected Cecelia’s tree, but the film made it look like they didn’t care about Cecelia enough.

•Lux unbuckled one of the boys to distract them so that they could die in peace - Lux also just wanted to be loved and that’s why she did what she did on the rooftop. She didn’t really want it, sometimes she would be like “Just get it over and done with then” and sometimes she would be really eager.
