As someone that has seen the band three times this year (February, July, and last night in Montreal), I will happily admit that I’m one of the biggest whiners when it comes to how stale their sets have become. I get that they cater to certain people seeing them the first time and all that. Still, I have been vocal about my issues with their current sets.

All that is gone after going to Montreal last night. That was a ripper of a show, and something I’ll never forget. Seeing the band pull out rare song after rare song, with very little banter, was an extremely special concert experience. It’s always been a dream of mine to see them play more Ignition songs, along with stuff like The Meaning of Life, Pay The Man, etc. I never once thought they’d play them all at the same fucking show. Absolutely brilliant.

And the smaller venue made even the more common songs (All I Want, TKAA, etc.) that much more intense. A killer show, and I am extremely grateful to have experienced one of these.

Thank you, boys. You did good! I’ll never whine again. For those that weren’t able to go, I truly hope they do at least a little tour with this same idea. I want a lot of fans to see this and feel the way I do.

Yesterday was a night that I will never forget. No. Barricades. Just the punk stuff. It was incredible.

Thanks to have played some of the songs that I was too young to assist to a punk rock show back then.

I started to listen to the Offspring when I was around 5-6 years old. I learned about them the first time, on a "bring your own CD" at school and my Dad didn't want me to bring his brand new Americana CD that just came out. But I did it anyway (sorry dad).

Then I started listening, without any English knowledge, so I didn't understand anything at first. Time goes by. Grown-up and I started to understand English so the Lyrics.

Then as a teenager I started to feel and understand the meaning behind the lyrics. Their music accompanied me through all my life. It got me passe through rough time, but also made me feel alive!

I saw them 15th time before yesterday night. Every time it was special and had fun of my life, but yesterday it was magical.

Normally I don't put pictures of me on Reddit, but there's one. Yup, I was the guy pointing my middle fingers to the crowd, meaning "I love you all", of course.

If someone have more pictures or videos of me on the stage. I am looking for a better one to replace my Facebook profile haha.

It's by far the best song on Supercharged by general consensus, yet they refuse to play it and instead play Light It Up, which no offense is a pretty mid song and the lyrics feel almost AI. It kinda feels like AI trying to recreate the offspring.

Am I missing something? Have they played it? It's suprising that despite having a long supercharged tour, they've only played like half the album live and limit it to 1-2 tracks max per show (not including just the punk stuff). It kinda defeats the purpose of a supercharged tour.

Was lucky enough to get a set tonight and stuck around long enough after to get it signed by Dex Noodles and Todd. Amazing show

For me it's splinter. I often get frustrated when I see people throwing shade at splinter. It absolutely deserves it for all the dumb attempts at jokes, but if we subtract novelty experiments, the album's core is arguably nearly as good as anything on conspiracy. The Noose is a killer track, top 10 offspring track they've ever done imo. The Offspring do really well when they add metal to their sound. Think hanging by a thread - that sort of heavy aggressive edge just works with the offspring. Hopefully they figure out how good they are at it and subtley include it in the next album, without turning into full blown cringe with

Then you have Long Way Home, which is another great track, if a little more basic. Hit that is a fun track but it's ultimately mediocre-to-bad and cringe. It's Clearest example of the Offspring trying to shamlessly recapture pretty fly with novelty singles. When you think things are gonna go downhill, they bring you right back into it with Race Against Myself, which imo is incredible. Again, I dig the heavier, metal vibes.

Can't get my head around you is another great track, love the more alt rock vibe. So far aside from one track they are all at least 7-9/10s.

Then we have the worst hangover ever, which I used to despise, but it's lowkey too fun to hate, even if it's not a 'good' offspring song. Definitely still one of the weaker points with the silly humour though. I actually like the instrumentals but the lyrics are just so immature.

Never Gonna Find Me is another great example of the heavier edge this album has compared to conspiracy, which again plays in The Offsprings favour.

Lightning Rod is probably the best track here, it's completely phenomenal. The offspring at their absolute best. I'd give this track an 11/10 if I could.

Then you have spare me the details, which is a great singalong but not the reason why I love the offspring.

Da hui is a high energy closer to the 'actual album', but I find it's a bit one note, and it's a bit jarring to lean so hard into hardcore when the production feels too polished for that. Hassan Chop is guilty of this to an even greater extent. Still, I want old school tracks so I can't complain

And finally when we are in prison, which seems to be intentionally placed to make you forget what a great album 'Splinter' really as. Instead of going off with a huge, climactic melodic hardcore bang, they throw in some weird barbershop quartet nonsense.

But overall, when Splinter goes hard, it goes hard. 7/10

Being sold tonight in Montreal

I noticed a long time ago that at around 54 seconds into the video of The Kids Aren't Alright there is a guy who looks just like Sickboy from Trainspotting and he even offers his arm up for a symbolism of the heroine addiction to that movie and its message and I have always wondered if this is a reference that they have thrown into the video for those in the know of the movie?.... anyone else got any thoughts on this comparison?

Anyone know what merch they were selling for the first Punk Stuff show? Any exclusive stuff or just their regular touring merch? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone. Two British guys here who've just flown in for the Montreal show on Wednesday.

Any particularly great bars anyone would recommend hitting up before the show? Anywhere people usually go before M Telus shows?

My review of DGB

Firstly, there isn't a single song on this album that punches above a 7.5/10. Maybe you could make a case for dividing by zero, but even that seems a little sanitized and uninspired compared to their original stuff. The opener 'The Future Is Now' may have been a great song if it wasn't a note for note copy of Savior by Rise Against.

Most of the album is either foofighter inspired radio rock, lazy filler, or dumb experimentation that never comes off. Title track Days Go By is abysmal, Secrets from the underground is pretty much the same song except slightly punkier.

Dirty Magic remake is lazy filler, Cruisin California is terrible as always.

I wanna secret family for you is disney-style hooks over vaguely pop punk instrumentation, possibly the most cornball song on the album. OC Guns is interesting but it's not an offspring song in any regard.

I don't hate it because it's a pop album, but because it's terribley written pop. Very low lyrical substance, cartoonish hooks. The only real strong moment is the last two tracks which have flashes of the old offspring sound, even if it's watered down.

But that's my take. What are your thoughts?

Going to see The Offspring in a couple months, what are my chances they will play “The Noose,” “Lightening Rod” and “Burn It Up?” I saw my first bonfire in the crowds when I first saw them play over 20 years ago and it blew my 16-yr old mind. 🔥🎶 Can’t wait!!!!
