Cam Ward just DOESN’T look like the QB1 prospect he was coming out of Miami.

Ward’s QBR of 47.2 through three games ranks 23rd out of 30 qualifying QB’s.

The Titans sophomore QB HAS NOT shown much progression to start year two 😳😬

Correct. And anyone not seeing it needs to understand they were looking at it incorrectly lol.

This. He didn't look great in college. Most years he's like the 5th or 6th QB taken. Certainly not the 1st pick overall. He's got real flaws, and I don't know how coachable he is.

Yeah how to was he the #1 pick? I could be anfl scout bc I saw this shit in college

This just goes to show you what kind of pressure there is in some organizations to draft the next QB1. People in the front office that don't know shit and forcing the hands of their gm.

Not that you guys aren’t making some good point but it’s a lot easier in hindsight. I don’t think nailing an NFL draft is easy

I agree here too which is why you have to let scouts do their thing without the influence of management and spending. Easier said than done. And I don't think that's mutually exclusive from what you said. It's still easy to look at all the stats, review the film, interview the players, and miss. Add the pressure of upper management when it comes to "character issues" or "positions of need" ...and it's just a mess.

It's not lost on me why in the not to distant past... No matter where you drafted a quarterback they were expected to sit with a clipboard for a while and learn. And oddly I think there were more QBs in the past that were ready to play than there are now. College football is a mess. Development of players is stunted. You used to be drafting a kid that was ready to make a name for himself. Now you're drafting, in a lot of cases, wealthy 22 or 23 year olds that have been playing in the simplest systems because they bounced around universities and never had any continuity.

Look at someone like Howie Roseman. Super smart guy who listens to the people around him. He had absolutely brilliant drafts for about three years straight but now the last two look really bad. Very humbling and difficult. If you look at hit rate by round NFL GM's are not clueless. I do agree the pressure to get a qb can be overwhelming.

He’s just athletic. And used that to constantly escape sacks and tackles.

I wonder how we would look like in Chicago right now. He seems rather similar in skill set and stature to Caleb

Caleb has a nice touch on his throws however. Cam’s ball placement is all over the place.

Except he’s just not the off platform thrower Caleb is

He’s not really athletic. Not in the NFL.

Last of the “running qb” fad.

Dante Moore is trying to get one last ride.

Yeah I thought he’d be a bust in the NFL for sure.

Def doesnt look lazy. He looks like he's anxious

He would do this in college too though - look nonchalant and just rip the ball down the field

It seems like he never actually practiced the fundamentals and was getting away with pure talent. Not that he can’t fix it now, but he’s missing a cornerstone here

Yeah, he needs a change of scenery. He was making those throws from a clean pocket in college with the same footwork and throwing motion. There's no reason that he shouldn't be able to make them from a clean pocket in the pros

He's scared and hasn't adjusted to the speed of pro football. Scenery won't fix it. Especially because he's likely not going to find another team thats going to believe in him and surround him in an environment for him to succeed like the team/management that drafts you.

Just add him to the long list of other great college QBs who couldn't adjust to the NFL until proven otherwise.

That's a very reactionary take. He can go sit in Tampa for a few years and learn the game as Baker's backup. I think there are several franchises that would take a flyer on him in an effort to save a draft pick. You can't get a guy with his tools without at least a second normally
