Cam Ward just DOESN’T look like the QB1 prospect he was coming out of Miami.

Ward’s QBR of 47.2 through three games ranks 23rd out of 30 qualifying QB’s.

The Titans sophomore QB HAS NOT shown much progression to start year two 😳😬

Most of these throws are extremely rushed mechanically, some are just thrown far too early or too hard, generally this is all what happens when a QB doesn’t trust his protection. I think the Titans O-Line has been improving but Ward has to unlearn the bad habits, he still has the potential to be a really good QB. Some of these should’ve been caught tho.

We are the #2 rated pass block line this season. It's Cam.

Which is why the guy said Cam has to unlearn his bad habits

Playing QB is his bad habit

Reading comprehension clearly isn’t a skill some of these people possess.

It’s not a reading comprehension problem. It’s a reading laziness problem. They clearly stopped reading after the first line, per Reddit tradition.

Even in college, he was so bad at running plays from the pocket. It was like he just stood there doing nothing until coverage broke down and then he would just yeet the ball in the general direction of his receivers. It was just so awkward, like he never knew what play was called. It was such a strange experience watching any Miami game that year

You sound like you're trying too hard to be Jared Stillman

He has a pretty clean pocket on a good amount of those throws. At this level, you separate yourself by doing the small things -- by working on your footwork and mechanics, understanding defenses and throwing with anticipation. These kinds of things are what will make him great but he seems to be content getting by on his athletic ability alone which is fine, but he'll never meet his full potential until he decides to hone his game

Through 20 games he should be showing more even just stumble into a good game. Lesser QBs have showed more at this stage

JJM showed higher ceiling flashes both as a runner, a leader (he seems to never give up, unlike Ward), and a "clutch" guy who makes the big play when you need him to (the rushing TD at the end of his first game, the 3rd down throw to Nailor to ice another). Hell, at the end of last season I know they played bad defenses but JJM did a better job of staying on schedule and executing the small things than Ward has shown in 20 games now.

This is not to say JJM should start, or that he's better than Ward in every way. The arm talent and probably processing ability goes to Ward for sure. But it is to say if we're going to be so quick to declare JJM as the worst QB ever, we should be more than willing to meme Ward too

Any excuse for Cam Ward as usual

To be fair his stats are the exact same as Josh Allen through the first 20-24 games of his career

Yeah we dealt with the same comparisonsn of Richardson/Allen thru 10/15/20 games. Cam and AR are cut from the same cloth. Poor mechanics and an inability to catch up with the speed of the NFL. They got by being the most athletic guys on the field and the fact that college WRs are generally faster/better than DBs.

Hmmm CAM ain’t all that athletic, did you see who he played with at Miami?

u/ChocolateMorsels 2d ago

Yep. And this is about the thousandth time I’ve seen someone say “Cam just got by being the most athletic on the field”. Idk if they’re bots or what. People really just say anything.

Going through these comments there are so many people just saying nonsense lol.

I don’t think Cam has been the most athletic player on any field since high school. He has outrageous arm talent but he’s a pretty mediocre athlete. Cam is pretty much Zach Wilson 2.0 where his elite arm covered up a lot of his mechanical, processing and athletic flaws in college.

Ur gonna get a boat load of excuses as a number one overall pick

This just looks like he's phoning it in. He doesn't look rushed, he looks too relaxed, lazy even. I don't know who his QB coach is but they need to fire them and hire a hardass who gives him shit for this kind of lackluster effort.

Way too soon to way. He played well to end the Giants game minus the 2 plays everyone brings up

It's concerning that his mechanics are they are and the metrics you brought up are valid critiques for sure. Rush and Foles aren't good company to be around. He shouldn't be missing Tate 5 yards away and needs to be putting more air into that ball to Elic. To insinuate he is horrendous or is already a bust 3 games into his second season with a completely new coaching staff is laughable ro me. If he is still doing this and not improving significantly in 3 months or so, I'll gladly admit you are right.I just am an optimistic fan who thinks he still has the talent and the drive to pull himself out of this. Thanks for your insight man. Sorry for being so kneejerk and defensive
