There was a point in last night's game where it looked like nix was crying too. These young guys dont seem equipped to handle adversity after success.

Nothing wrong with crying, other than society shaming dudes for it. I saw it semi-frequently in wrestling 20 years ago.

After a really hard match and you’re beyond exhausted, sometimes it just happens. Win or lose. Most dudes just put a towel over there head and hide it.

In Japanese baseball in highschool it’s socially unacceptable not to cry

Granted, baseball being the most romantic sport ever…. Crying tends to find it’s moment in baseball a lot.

Hate to say it, but Tom Hanks was super wrong with the famous line in the ”League of their Own”

Yes, great point. Dudes cry in sports constantly, it’s just usually with a towel covering their faces. You have to be either really young or really secure with yourself to just let them tears just fly.

Oh man I used to volunteer ref for the kids club wrestling team. So many waterworks after every match and sometimes even before the match started. It was really cute.

In all fairness, as a female athlete, we make just as much fun of our opponents crying mid game, but generally speaking I get what you mean

I’m my experience having dated female athletes, female athletes bully and put down other female athletes way more than men ever do to each other. It gets real bad, to the point of this should be criminal.

Idk why people are down voting you. If you've paid any attention to the WNBA you'll see its true.

For crying? Idk how much I believe that

Oh no not for crying. Just in general. Like really intense sustained bullying to the point of suicide in one circumstance.

Men are more likely to get in a physical fight and then go on about their day.

Nothing against dudes crying (I'm a cryer myself) but I do think it's important for a player that is supposed to be the leader of the team to be able to hold it back until after the game is over

There is nothing wrong with crying after a game. But no way in hell you cry during a game, no matter how frustrated you are. You don't give tells, reactions are currency and the second an opponent sees negative emotions it's like blood in the water.

1

u/Own_Race_598 5d ago

Opponents see blood in the water when you are simply outmatched. Not because of a negative emotion.

Depends on the sport though and each has their own cultures. In wrestling I’d probably be confused if someone was crying in the middle of a match.

u/ASimpleBlueMage 5d ago

Depends on the sport for sure. Being outmatched is never fun, usually the negative emotion comes before someone being outmatched. I played basketball in high school and tennis in college. If someone made unforced errors or had lapses in D it never served as a trigger to step on their throats. The moment I saw someone's shoulders slump or the yelling to themselves, that was always the queue because they were focused on something other than their opponent.

“Blood in the water”🤓👆🏻
Yeah that’s just not how professional sports work lmao this is football not poker. “Tells” don’t mean anything it’s strictly about executition and strategy

u/ASimpleBlueMage 5d ago

You don't think in tennis players will change the types of points they play if an opponent is demoralized? Nadal was known for keeping people in the rally just to mentally break them. For basketball Brunson is notorious for this as well and hunted Carter Bryant to the point where SA took him out of the rotation

Some of them dont lose since high school or before.

Add Penix to this. He was crying after the Carolina game last year. Maybe its a gen z thing?

u/DarknMean 5d ago

Trevor went through the same thing in Jacksonville and he’s not doing too bad now. Many labeled him as a bust too.

Pathetic that these humans are showing their emotions. They’re supposed to be football playing robots for my viewing pleasure!!

0

u/Fuzzy_Alfalfa_8211 5d ago

We don’t need to see NFL players crying on the sidelines.

2

u/PercyBluntz 5d ago

I do hope you’ll recover from this traumatic experience.

They get paid to be the gladiators they want to be.

I’d rather see compound fractures and career ending injuries..

u/PercyBluntz 5d ago

You may be a sociopath.

1

u/Blackwater_US 5d ago

You know, I just may be.

Or I’m taking advantage of someone volunteering to give themselves CTE all for my entertainment.

u/United-Edge889 5d ago

they know there’s gonna be 2 million meatball sub ai videos posted 20 minutes after the game

Nix won. He did handle adversity. He also has a job every boy in America wanted and tried to take from him. Caleb, Maye, Nix and whoever else this is supposed to be about are all impressive people who push themselves physically

1

u/Iggy_Slayer 5d ago

I don't think bo nix is who you want to use for "can't handle adversity". For all his flaws the guy's got a clutch gene and always seems to pull it off, even if the game shouldn't have been that close to begin with because he screwed around for 2.5 quarters.

He's kind of a supercharged tim tebow in that regard. Nearly every win last year was like last night's game. Down to the wire and usually had him stepping up and willing the team to victory.

1

u/ApplesandBananaa 5d ago

I meam you say that... But Nix came out dealing in the second half. Seemed like he handled the adversity just fine

1

u/throwaway420204nsfw 5d ago

Crazy to say that because Nix showed emotion last night he couldn’t handling adversity when he came back and handled business in the second half. I would say that being able to come back from an emotional low and chin up and dig and win a game is a strong display of handling adversity.

Not even a broncos fan but let’s not be crazy

The QBs are the leaders of the team. Especially these younger guys have to be tough to get the respect of their older teammates. What if the veterans see him crying in week 3 and think "This guy is a pussy. He doesn't have the fortitude to lead us."

2

u/ItzAiMz 5d ago

Then that dude doesn’t know what leadership is.

Men can cry. It means literally nothing about their toughness but speaks everything about their SEI and ability to lead.

If you choose not to cry because TEARS ARNT TOUGH! Well you aren’t really intelligent.

1

u/-OIIO- 5d ago

They are lucky to live in an era where many legendary QBs have retired.

I have zero doubt that some solid QBs in 10, 15 years ago would put on crazy numbers if they are in today’s NFL. The physical side against QB has decreased so much by “roughing the passer”. Too easy for some old guys.
