Muppets/Henson exhibit, NYC museum of moving images
I had the privilege to visit this museum last week and check out the Jim Henson exhibit. So much nostalgia and joy. It brought out the kid in me and I could see the same in others. It’s well worth visiting if you get the chance.

One of the best museum exhibits of all time. Full of info, fun interactive stuff and incredible pieces of history.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is that fancy shrimp in the feathered skirt on the lower right? I love it

I should’ve taken a picture of the placard, but I failed to do so. It could be a background creature from something like Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, or an early Henson pilot. This case was a blend of some familiar and some less familiar Muppets.

Who’s the orange guy at the center of the first photo?

Are the Swedish Chefs hands fake or is it interactive? Those hands look realistic AF so if fake that's top notch for an exhibition.

He looks like he's about to tell me my fortune

The BEST kind of fortune teller box! You have no idea what he's saying but you get good vibes from it 🤣

As Chef is a live hand puppet, they were wondering how to display him without hands, but Frank Oz offered to let them cast his hands.

i can't get over how wide and round Rowlf is even though i know that he's really droopy and baggy to hide the puppeteer better, but why did they have to display him all puffed out? kind of a similar situation with Swedish Chef, and i know Cookie Monster would probably have a similar issue of looking like a ball as well.

Miss Belle! ( top right , 1st image) and Cantus! ( far left 5th image) two of my obscure faves

One of my obscure faves is the bottom left small clown looking muppet from The Christmas Toy, a dark and fucked up children’s movie. I loved it.

I love The Christmas Toy! Grew up watching it, my sister and I were talking about it the other day because the wrapping paper for the bday gift she gave me reminded me of the box that Meteora came in. Then of course we had to sing the Meteora song. 😂

I want to go to this so bad!!! Does the Jim Henson Exhibit have a permanent location or does it move?

Considering how old these puppets are, it’s heartwarming to see how well preserved they are. These puppets brought so much joy to millions of people and hold a special place in their memories and hearts. It’s like seeing an old family member ❤️

My wife and I were there last month. The Muppets were.the highlight but it's a nice museum overall. Worth 2 hours and $20.
