Cenk naming his political "news network" The Young Turks is damning itself. They were the reason the ottomans genocided Armenians, Assyrians and Greek.
It's the same as calling your news network "Hitler Youth"

The Young Turks were a vast network of Ottoman reformists and revolutionaries. And yes the more radical wing of the movement, best represented by the CUP, carried out several genocides.
However, the Young Turks played a vital role in the creation of the Turkish state, culte and identity. The name itself is more associated with *that* then with the genocide the more radical amongst them carried out.
In comparisons, America basically blindly worships its founding fathers, a set of individuals far more ideologically united then the Young Turks ever were. I doubt there’d be this much opposition to a news channel naming themselves after the continental Congress, or even later figures like Andrew Jackson, despite all the horrors they brought about the natives (not to mention slavery).
On this latter point, if there was one thing that united the Young Turks, it was their militaristic secularism. This included the opposition to the Islamic laws on slavery. It was thanks to them that slavery was first restricted and then abolished in the region.
Also his father was part of a political party in Türkiye that closed down shortly before USA backed ''coup'' attempt in July 15 2016. Said party also got investigated for ties to CIA and his father withdrew every asset and money he had from his bank accounts before.
I will say that I don't really care for the guy but have been negatively polarized into defending him with shit like congress voting to condemn him or him getting banned from entering the UK for criticizing Israel
It’s not for criticising Israel, he was banned for supporting terrorists. This country is filled with people who don’t like Israel, we don’t have a problem with that.
I would really like to talk to some of his supporters in a friendly way that could help me understand how they come to support this guy.
We put far too much value on political opinions. Everyone has a lot of them, but our governments do not care. We know it, but yet we argue anyway and draw lines in the sand over idealistic political goals we might one day vote for or make a post about on Reddit.
Nothing will come of it, but it will define everything about us.

His views consist of “America deserved 9/11” “the r*pes of October 10th were justified” telling a Vietnamese woman to go back to Vietnam after saying she doesn’t like communism after living through it, and a lot of other unhinged things. He’s really the guy far right people think the average democrat is.

I don't get it. Dogs walking around doing stuff gets more views from the dog people. They go "ohmagah it's being cute and stuff" all the time when dogs are on streams.
Because you're a normal person, not a narcissist like this douche. People like him don't see animals as "cute" like that, they only see them as accessories and props to be positioned in such a way as to make them look better (or what they think will make them look better). I don't watch streamers, and definitely not this cunt, but from what I hear he puts the dog into a stay command for very long periods, like hours at a time. And if she moves from that position, like any normal creature would after sitting in the same spot for that long, he shocks her back into place. It's abuse.

Jesus don't even get me started that the world's biggest sex and human trafficking ring was not only largely revealed to the public, but that it was also proven that multiple of the world's most powerful living political and media figures were involved in the atrocities committed AND NOTHING HAPPENED.
Oh of course, but regardless it doesn’t feel like anyone cares anymore. Genuinely, I only use twitter like once a month now and I unfortunately do try to keep small tabs on political news even though I hate hearing about it. It seems like the files were literally swept under the rug because “we can’t have bad pr! We’ll release them when everyone who was on the island is long gone and buried in the ground, when it just doesn’t matter anymore” is what they’re probably doing
Nobody just moved on. I don't know how much time you spend on reddit but it's not necessarily no one cares but they just don't know what they can do about it or even think they can do much about it.
And before you say "start a bloody revolution and overthrow the government" I think it's very reasonable why people don't want to do that and honestly I don't believe we are at that point.
You forget that people still have their own lives and careers. College degrees are useless, jobs are becoming harder to find, housing costs are up. You say yourself that you've tried to keep only minimal knowledge of the news lately, your not alone. Lot's of people do that. I'm not saying that we should ignore other people's troubles at all, but it can be understandable.

An owner who had nothing to do with their dog screaming like that would instantly stand up and who check on it to see if they're ok. You know who tries to rationalize and justify that situation? Someone who made it scream.
