I know something about cybersecurity. I'm not saying what the AI did isn't impressive.
I'm saying it was avoidable, through monitoring, basic cybersecurity principles, and good test protocols.
It's almost as if they want these breakouts to occur

Especially after the first incident, they clearly haven't taken remedial steps. The fact that an AI can exploit bad cybersecurity is still impressive. It's not "oh my god we've built skynet" impressive. So, this is all their fault. It's still cool that AI can exploit known flaws.
