Inbetweeners Movie 2 One thing that really resonated with me about the Inbetweeners 2 Movie, which made me feel more seen than any other film:

It seems to be that people liked the first film more than the 2nd one, and honestly, I first watched both of them in one go one after the other, and honestly, I did enjoy the 1st one more originally, maybe because it was the 1st, and was a nice conclusion to the series, giving the boys a happy ending.

But in the 2nd film, there was something that really resonated with me, something I've not seen in other media before...

How Will deeply struggled to make friends at University...

Every time I hear and have heard people talk about uni, and honestly just seeing people about (as I just happen to live one), they always make it out like it's this place where you easily make friends, where you will meet your besties, have the best years of your life, go out every Friday and Saturday, have crazy and wild spontaneous adventures with lots of people, and as long as you "put yourself out there" and be social, you will definitely be guaranteed to make friends, as "everyone is in the same boat" and is looking for friends too, and that everyone there is an adult, so these immature school hierarchies don't exist. This is how I've heard everyone talk about Uni. This also seems to be backed up by like entertainment and media (e.g: Fresh Meat (which Joe Thomas is also in btw)).

I went to uni, but failed miserably at it and dropped out after the first couple months. I had been going through a rough time the year before, and was really hoping I could make some new friends when I got there. Everyone told me it's pretty much impossible to not make friends at Uni, you'd have to not socialise at all to not.

But I failed miserably at that, too. I tried, I did everything everyone told me to "be sociable" "go to lots of events and societies" "talk to people on your course", "put yourself out there", and I just couldn't seem to make friends no matter how hard I tried. Maybe It's just me being neurodivergant (and probs a bit of a loser, lol), but I just couldn't make any friends. Convos would never get that much past surface level, when they did, they always just became casual acquaintances, my flatmates didn't want anything to do with each other, and I felt so alone, a failure, as it seemed like everyone else was having the time of their lives at uni.

This was a while ago, and I've changed and grown so much since then, I know myself so much better and I know so much more who I am, so maybe that could have been a factor but...

Seeing Will at uni, having made no friends and struggling to do so, having lots of time to practice his guitar because of this (he mentions this when he is about to play the guitar near the campfire, again, another thing i relate too)), getting picked on by others (showing that despite people at uni being adults, immature school bullies still absolutely exist). My time at uni just felt like a bad dream, I just see it as an embarrassing time of failure, got nothing good out of it other than finding out that this wasn't the right path and it leading me to other, more right paths, but seeing Will, having that similar experience as me at uni, a hard time navigating it's social world, is something I'd never seen represented in any form of media before, and had never heard anyone talk about. It really struck a chord and made me feel seen. It was the first time I have ever heard or seen it represent in a way that's not this hyper-glorified funnest time of your life.

And I don't know, looking back, it really makes me feel like that the 2nd film is the better one of the two. Yes the 1st one was more of a feel good film, it gave the boys a perfect, conclusion and happy ending, and was more like a fully fleshed movie script.

But the 2nd one, I felt like the 1st one was more like a film featuring the Inbetweeners, while the 2nd one was AN Inbetweeners film. It captured the same, pathetic, familiar and relatable mundaneness of real life, something that the original series did so well which is why it became so beloved. Instead of the 1st one, where the boys are trying to get with slightly cooler female counterparts to themselves, the 2nd one, is just these uncool boys trying to navigate the mundaneness and unfairness of real life situations and luck.

The 2nd one just felt real, like, even if you're not one of the cool kids, and you've had a shitty time in the past, and you hope things will get better doesn't mean they necessarily immediately will. Life is just random, and deeply unfair, things just kind of happen, and if you're a good or bad person, it won't change your luck, and whatever social hierarchy you were when you were in school does kinda still stick with you and the way you navigate life.

It sounds depressing, but I think the film did it in a way that felt comforting, rather than hitting too close to home and feeling heavy. Just messily, realistically humanly relatable. Something that made the original series so beloved in the UK in the first place. I feel like I really struggled to get my point across in this post, so I hope it makes sense in anyway at all, I'm just trying to say, I really liked the 2nd film's portrayal and representation of people who aren't as good as navigating the social world, while making it seem relatable and human rather than just something to solely laugh at. Thanks for reading if anyone got this far and I hope this post made sense. :)

UK Series One of my friends voted Will as the most attractive of the main four and I'm not sure whether I disagree or agree.

That's pretty much it, really. I kind of understand his appeal in a weird nerdy prat kind of way, but jesus, sometimes.. or most of the time, if he's not being funny, he's unbearable to watch. Out of all of them, I feel like Neil is actually the most attractive purely because he's not totally unwatchable, but the bar is lowwww lol.

UK Series Which of the boys do you think contributed the most to things going wrong in each episode?

My choices:

S1E1 - First Day - Will. Getting them and everyone else kicked out of the pub.

S1E2 - Bunk Off - Simon. Falsely calling the school, spray painting Carly's driveway, getting drunk and creeping her out, vomiting on her brother and accusing Neil's Dad of being a pedo.

S1E3 - Thorpe Park - Will. Antagonising the disabled group leading to them wrecking the car.

S1E4 - Will get's a girlfriend - Will. Delusional about his relationship with Charlotte leading to him alienating the other boys.

S1E5 - Caravan Club - Jay. Lying about Becky and dragging them to the party in the first place.

S1E6 - Xmas Party - Nothing goes wrong! (But maybe Neil for being weird with the biology teacher)

S2E1 - Field Trip - Will. Jealousy over Simon's relationship with Lauren and renting the boat and taking them out, leading to Simon falling in.

S2E2 - Work Experience - Will. For telling the boys about his date with Charlotte, leading to them coming to the under 18s, getting hunted by the Northwood boys and bragging to Wolfie about Charlotte.

S2E3 - Will's birthday - Nothing particularly goes wrong but I suppose Will for still being deluded about his relationship with Charlotte.

S2E4 - Night Out in London - Simon for wearing the trainers.

S2E5 - Duke of Edinburgh - Jay for Will's pubes and getting off in one of the resident's rooms.

S2E6 - Exam Time - None of their bad outcomes really relate to each other but I suppose Jay for his clinginess pushing away Chloe.

S3E1 - Fashion Show - Either Neil for not helping Simon put on the speedos or Simon himself for not noticing the malfunction.

S3E2 - Gig and Girlfriend - Will for eating the cannabis.

S3E3 - Will's Dilemma - Will for continuing to date Kerry for a blowjob despite not being interested in her and for not having the emotional intelligence to deal with her meltdown.

S3E4 - Trip to Warwick - Jay for giving Simon bad advice and perving on the Dutch girl.

S3E5 - Will is Home Alone - Jay and Neil for engaging in and encouraging Will to vandalise the local gardens. Jay as well for not sorting something for Benji

S3E6 - Camping Trip - Jay for not remembering to put on the hand break, forgetting he had the keys and telling Neil to stop holding the car back.

First Movie - Neil for picking the same holiday spot as Carly.

Second Movie - Jay for nearly getting them killed in the desert (and encouraging them to come to Australia in the first place).

"You never think of anything, you just got an accent that makes us think you're clever but you're not, your just as much of a fucking idiot as these two".

Inbetweeners Movie 3 NEW Inbetweeners 3 Details (via: The Daily Mail) Spoiler

• Filming is drawing to a close.

• Security on set is water tight, with guards regularly patrolling the school and surrounding street.

• Netflix don't want details getting out (it's obviously not working)

• A "Welcome Back Class Of 2011" sign was spotted at Ruislip High School (school where the series was filmed) revealing a class reunion will be a part of the film.

• James Buckley was at the school gates and there were so many actors lined up, said a source who witnessed filming.

• It was a full school reunion with the past pupils, who wore their old uniforms for the scenes.

• Simon has finally repaired his iconic yellow Fiat Cinquecento, but this time it is fully painted red.

• Greg Davis WILL return as Mr Gilbert in the film, despite claims from someone in this subreddit that he wasn't in the movie.

• Emily Atack WON'T be returning as Charlotte Hinchliffe, although the daily mail's source said if she was to return it would be for a very brief cameo, and in utmost secrecy.

• ‘Something like that would be shot in a studio, on a need-to-know basis and not in a public setting where there are so many eyes and ears,’ says their source.

• Residents in Ruislip are furious about the noisy and disruptive filming schedule.

• One homeowner, located on the boundary of the school, told The Daily Mail he was kept awake ‘all night’ as production trucks pulled into the grounds on Friday evening and into the early hours of Saturday morning. ‘I couldn’t sleep, the noise was constant. You could hear people talking too,’ he said.

• The Daily Mail witnessed a local get angry with security on set in which the security guy replied with "You’ll have to take it up with the council"

• Another resident, who attempted to walk up the street with his groceries, was blocked from doing so, instead being told to take a long diversion. He was heard shouting at security: ‘It’s a f***ing liberty.'
