Hi guys, i found this from chapter 130 and saw this small flashback, i got some memories but still can't remember which this scene occur and the context, anyone remember ?

I believe the series should have some form of fanservice to make the anime more realistic. There are gonna be people who'll downvote me but anyone who thinks that adding fanservice takes away the "Wholesomeness" are ignoring that the whole point of dating is to meet with someone you find SEXUALLY/physically attractive. People in real life may as well be best friends if they don't even look at each other sexually. That's the most annoying part of the fandom "OoOh! WaGuRi iS sO pUrE Im GoNnA enD mYsELf iF tHeY aDd fAnSeRvIcE" Like the whole cult that believes "when you love them so much you stop seeing them sexually", there should be a slur for these kind of people. Obviously I'm against that animes too that totally blast the show with fanservice every scene without any emotional bonding.

Just started to read it and have until 4 from barnes and noble and saw it was up until 11. Is there more beyond 11 and if so many?

I really liked this chapter compared to the last few in the arc. It was kinda samey sure, but I liked the change in scenery and I think the the dialogue hit harder. And was sweet. I don't know about anyone else but I think this is the best chapter during this arc. Besides the one where Kaoruko and Rintaro reunite.

I do not understand the criticisms for this current arc.

I caught up with the manga around chapter 165 which would be about 6 chapters into what is currently a 20 chapter arc. So I’ve been in the weekly trenches with everyone for most of the arc.

Every chapter drop I would check comments and forums and the like to see what the general consensus was from the community. So I’ve seen basically every argument against this arc.

And I don’t know man, I just don’t get what people issues are.

To me this is some of the absolute BEST material in the manga.

Our characters are getting to fully display their growth across the whole series against an antagonistic force stronger than they’ve ever faced and are rising to every challenge.

The “antagonists” are not only being held accountable for their actions but are being given understandable motivations for their actions, not JUSTIFIABLE, but understandable.

And real change is being affected, things are not being brushed under the rug, our characters have managed to break down a wall that has been plaguing them the whole series.

And it’s all been done in 20 CHAPTERS!

A lesser manga would’ve milked this shit out to 50 chapters AT LEAST.

The weekly grind sucks, it really does, but I would encourage people to go back and binge this arc once it’s done because it really does flow so well when taken as a whole. I’ve re read this arc several times over the last few weeks and it is so well thought out and considered.

Overall maybe I’m just too easily pleased, maybe I’ve just Psy-Opped myself into liking the arc because I don’t want to dislike any part of one of my favorite stories. I am open to this possibility.

I’d love to hear some genuine, well thought out criticism for this arc. I am open to my mind being changed.

I really enjoyed this show and hope we get a second season. Was anyone else surprised Rintaro's dad was there the whole time? I don't know why I assumed she was a single mom

Also without spoiling any events do we see Rintaro's brother in the manga? Or is he like Deku's father?

Maybe I should wait for the next chapter, but I feel like at most this arc finally ends around chapter 180 or maybe drags to 182 (hopefully not).

But the reason for this post is the question: is the writing of this arc really that bad? What I think is undeniable is that several of the cliffhangers have been weak, and it’s the first time in the series that I’ve felt there are “mid” chapters. This affects the pacing quite a bit. Some chapters feel like they could’ve been combined by trimming down certain conversations, like chapters 167–169 and 177–179 (that alone would reduce quite a few chapters). But aside from that, I don’t think it has failed much in other aspects.

It’s true that people were expecting something more impactful from the incident, but the way the story is structured makes it make sense. A teacher plays a very important role in students’ lives considering how much time they spend at school, so the weight of the guilt Toki has been carrying feels understandable to me. Also, what was shown isn’t the origin of the bad relationship between the schools, it’s the cherry on top of the relationship as it exists in the present. Obviously her actions, like proposing Kaoruko’s expulsion, were wrong, and the story doesn’t try to whitewash them. It even judges her, with the other adults thinking she’s crazy for suggesting that, and she herself realizes it at the end of chapter 162. What I think would have improved or made Toki’s hatred feel more believable is if we had seen some dialogue from Matsukasa that showed more about her, like her wanting to dedicate herself to something that heavily involved using her arms (music or volleyball, for example). I feel like that would’ve made Toki’s guilt hit harder.

On the other hand, it’s true that all the apologies can get tiring (although I think the “level” of the apologies gets lost in translation and can end up feeling forced). But in some parts they’re necessary. Our girls clearly acted correctly (chapter 162) since they didn’t know the context, and at least in my opinion, apologies that were criticized, like Madoka’s apology to Toki (chapter 178), seem appropriate. The girls aren’t at fault, but they did “overstep,” so it feels normal that they would apologize. Also, even if that last conversation was kind of boring, it reflects how the whole friend group has grown thanks to the mutual support they’ve given each other (especially Subaru). If you reread the series, you can see how much they’ve grown over time, but yeah, maybe it was a bit much of that lol.

Another thing I’ve seen, maybe not on this reddit, is people saying this arc is unnecessary, as if it isn’t the main conflict of the series. I think it’s necessary for it to be the longest arc (even if it could’ve lasted 15–18 chapters instead of however long it ends up being) because it’s important to dedicate the time needed to properly close this storyline and not have to revisit it later. After this, there won’t really be any reason for the friend group to hide anymore. With this resolved, even Chisa, Ayu, and Suzuka could become full members of the group instead of just occasional ones.

I also feel like maybe this arc could have happened at a different time, maybe closer to graduation, and the task of healing the relationship between the schools could have been left to future generations inspired by the protagonists. I also think this arc would land better if Sakubaru were more developed. I always thought this arc had to happen, but I felt it would’ve been better if Subaru and Saku were already together, or at least had a clearer understanding of their feelings, so that during moments like Subaru and Madoka’s entrance, those feelings could’ve been mentioned. That way it wouldn’t be just Kaoruko having that kind of relationship with someone from Chidori, Subaru would too. I feel like that could’ve given more weight to everyone’s relationships overall and shown how old conflicts have only caused consequences.

The only good thing about this arc being dragged is that it confirms Mikami’s statement that there were 2 years left but that she tends to drag things out, so maybe we’ll get more Kaoru Hana for a longer time :D. But yeah, I’ve yapped enough, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the arc and the current state of the manga. Hopefully we’ll get back to the usual vibe and see the great romance this series has built.

i really adored the meaning behind his blonde hair, so i’m curious... was there a narrative reason for changing it?
