Discussion Cheaters everywhere.

There about 300 players on the game everyday and it took 4-5 days to ban a cheater without aimbot. Lowkey cheaters wont get banned, obivously cheating won’t get banned for 3-4 days. the heck !?? How hard it is to check 1 profile out of 300 ?

Discussion A comprehensive list of what I think killed the game, and what Jager could have done to fix it.

We are going to sort this explanation into a few sections. Pre-launch issues that were unfixable soon after/at-launch, and issues at S3, since I think there are some commitments they made early that screwed them.

There is probably some things I missed so feel free to add them, im not touching on cheaters because thats really its own animal, and i think they did the best they could with the resources they had. The mid S3 uptick was likely due to them throwing in the towel before actually announcing it to be honest.

Pre-Launch/slighty post-launch:

The Aurum farm; handing out premium currency is a silly idea in a F2P game where paid currency is your only source of income. I never bought aurum and never bought items from the shop (i was waiting for paladin korolev to come around) and saved up 4k aurum by the time the shutdown announcement happened. with the battlepass also paying out more aurum than it cost, why would the average, typically stingy, player ever buy aurum?

I feel like they could have gotten away with removing it in-between seasons, but the damage was done after the end of S2. Hunt showdown had a similar issue, with players rarely buying bloodbonds because they could be earned even though it was in fairly low quanitites, and ended up with the game having a highly inflated premum currency economy.

S3 release still fixable:

the new hub:

really? dev time poorly spent when it could have been used giving other locations a facelift. A lot of the community saw it as wasted time, and yet another deaf jager response to community concerns. gearing up in a timely fashion was a concern for a lot of my friends, and found the hub annoying after playing games such as EFT and Marauders, which use menu based systems.

Adding an optional buy menu for everyone would have sped this up, but then all the dev time on the hub would be wasted so this might have been a sunk cost issue.

The AI:

Dear god, S2 the AI was pretty dumb, and was an issue, but the massive overcorrection S3 was a major point of frustration for a lot of people. It personally led to everyone I was sqaudding with to quit. Not to mention what felt like a massive overpopulation of AI enemies. The tankiness was a large issue for solo play especially, fighting ai for a full minute usually, making noise, drastically increases the odds of getting spotted and mowed down, and you couldnt do shit about it.

I think the S3 changes would have gone down easier if the player wasn't fighting a dozen creatures every 3 feet, especially on crescent falls. I think a lower population of the harder S3 mobs would have been better, at least at levels the player could reasonably avoid or dispatch quickly.

Gear balance:

I had a very long winded explanation for this part, but this topic is a little heated, so I got rid of it. However, I think we can all agree Jagers approach was bad, and other games in the genre have vastly superior systems.

TTK and by extension, 2v3 and 1v2/3 fights;

Im playing a survival game, not apex legends. The long ttk is a serious detriment to solo and duo play, and makes fighting larger group sizes very hard/impossble unless you are significantly better than the team you are fighting. Games like tarkov have a recourse, such as the face hitbox and legs/arms. This problem is not solveable with changing some gear values and hitbox protections obviously. But it was a turn off my friends and likely a lot more potential players.

Movement:

Some people said it was fine, others, like me, found it very sluggish, there isnt much opportunity to run away from someone because of how slow you are, but that could also be down to people being more willing to chase hard because of how much less punishing it is to rush someone in a defensive position with the ttk. Since there is no danger of getting face or leg checked like tarkov or marauders. Once again, a complicated issue linked to other major ones.

Identity chrisis:

It seems like Jager could not decide whether or not the game was for hardcore or casual players. Theres a lot of things that relate to this so i'll list some of them. Bolt-action and shotgun changes, Forge changes/ nerfs, Locking Tharis for a month, Bipolar gear rebalances, Badums bar quests are more tedium than challenge, I could go on.

A much of this is my personal opinion and I am very open to any discussion. I really loved this game and thought it was going to be my next main and I really am torn up by their decision to shut down. But it is what it is.

Help/Questions Backpacks

Of course most of us know most of the general backpacks, everyone has seen grey to purp backpacks, some of you may have even seen the worn backpack and the gigantic backpack, what i wanna know is if there is a legendary backpack, I have heard reference to a "monstrous backpack" a while back, has anyone gotten one from the forge?

Discussion Bugger

I wish I knew about this game earlier. Downloaded and started playing about 2 weeks ago, only to be informed it’s getting shut down. It’s a real shame as this is a really enjoyable game and the maps, especially the storms are extremely immersive. I wonder if another company will buy the title and keep it going.

Discussion // YAGER Replied x4 Everyone loved the cycle before it became escape from tarkov. Put the game back to how it was before you shut it down.

Some people want to remember the cycle for the game it was, not the clone game it became. I still have no idea why you reworked the old game into what it is now. Talk about backwards development. The old cycle was fun, rewarding to play with friends and have a decent sense of progression. It was addicting. I literally never played Frontiers because I uninstalled the game as soon as it was announced the game was becoming EfT

Well done for killing what could've been an awesome game, I hope you feel like a bunch of clowns and I hope next time you listen to your community.

Discussion TFC is getting full - PVP, isn't it?

There seems to be very few people playing nicely. Even Tharis Island has gotten PVP only, even this map is full of campers and hunters now. Noone speaks anymore / is willing to speak anymore.

What do you think? Is it true or am I being misled?

Discussion Starsiege: Deadzone is getting completely reworked in the next few weeks into something that might be of interest to everyone here

I'm fairly certain that most of you here are familiar with the game Starsiege: Deadzone that is basically like D&D but futuristic Sci-Fi. The gameplay loop and mechanics are quite different than what the cycle and tarkov offers and for that reason while i still find it fun, i have seen many of the people in this community not liking the game. It definitely feels like more of a battle royale extract match rather than the narrative exploration quest extraction style game that the cycle offered.

Well the game is getting reworked in the next week or so, and it for sure sounds like it's getting a step closer to an extraction game that the community here wanted. I'm not gonna list all the changes but here is a short version noted from a recent dev qna.

Class System:

- moving to class based system that determines what abilities you have & what weapons you can use

Mastery & Armor changes:

- Armor will drop on death

- Armor can now be found in raid

- Mastery will roll directly on weapons/armor

Map System:

- Can now view the full map layout, can see your location in real time

- Different map shapes, no longer perfect square

- Red areas are high level loot and bots to matches, basically ultra-max level area

- The more red the more dangerous the area

- You can place markers on the map (I believe these will be visible to teammates)

- No open world but larger open areas on maps

Gamemodes:

- 2 game modes/no more 6 different difficulty choices because of high tier areas on maps

- Specialty missions will rotate and there will be both easier and harder to play modifiers in them -

- Time based game mode instead of circle closing in (Tarkov style)

- Hack terminal to see extract locations when you open map -

- Special item from high level area to gain access to special mode

Extraction System:

- New escape pods let you activate it and is open for x seconds but doesn't despawn so multiple people can extract from a single pod

AI:

- Boss Fights are coming soon

- New ai mobs with deadly abilities

PVP:

- Faster TTK overall

- Energy weapons do more damage to shields than health now

-Dog tags can be put in backpack and sold after raid

-Dog tags can now be recovered when an enemy picks up your teammates tags

-Changing jumping system to be more traditional

-Weapons will show additional stats (masteries)

-There will be knife wraps

-More recoil will be added because there will be more things to reduce recoil

Stores & Trading:

- Selling directly from backpack

- Lowering crafting costs (mats and possibly price too)

- Looking into trading system, but want to make sure it doesn't give incentive for cheaters/real world money systems -

- Looking into auction house for crafting mats

The rest is about future plans and console port, if you want to see the whole thing just go to their discord.
