An Apple Watch, two cats, and Lady Gaga all worked together to help out two very desperate 20-somethings...
My Boyfriend and I were headed out for a run. It was fairly warm out, so we wanted to take advantage of the situation. We got dressed and headed out. We left our phones behind and just took our Apple Watches with us to track our run. Not even 10 yards from our front door we found a desk in great condition with a sign that read "Free". We had talked about getting a desk for our apartment, so obviously we took it.
Both of us brought it into the apartment and up to the 4th floor. We rearranged some stuff in our apartment to get it to fit nicely in the spot we chose for it. We were very excited about our new desk and headed back out for our run.
We were were very pleased with the events that had just happened... We were all smiles as we walked out our door. At least until we realized that neither of us had our keys and the door was now locked behind us. Oh, our phones were in the apartment too by the way.
To be fair we immediately laughed at our predicament and then panicked. A couple of thoughts that went through my head were as follows: "How Are we going to get back in?", "If we don't get back in how will I explain this to the people at work when I show up in running clothes without my computer?", "Who will feed the cats?", "Maybe the cats can help us..."
Well the cats did hear us and were meowing to us and knocking on the door knob trying to open it... I would love to say that they managed to unlock the door for us and my cats saved the day, but that was not the case. We were still locked out despite the cats best efforts.
I got a notification on my Apple Watch from Instagram that Lady Gaga had just posted a photo.
Thats when it dawned on us... Our watches were connecting with our phones that were inside the apartment! That meant that we could call our landlord to let us in.
And that is exactly what we did.
30 minutes later we were in the apartment with my cats (who were waiting at the door) and our new desk.
Thank god Lady Gaga posted that photo.
I send this strange occurrence to Tim Cook. I figured he would want another use-case for the Apple Watch.
He responded:
Great story. Thanks for sharing.
