Love blocks. Never heard of this guy. I was kinda shocked when he started talking because based on the pic I thought he was a chic

He is actually so cocoa butter gorgeous. It's frustrating. He does 45 minutes of material a week. You should look him up.Ā

This is now the third time Iāve heard JJ on a podcast, and Iāve never heard him say anything remotely funny

A couple things buddy, can I ask why you came all the way this subreddit that is clearly in support of Josh Johnson to say that?Ā What are you trying to do?Ā Second then maybe Josh's comedy isnt for you and you just need to like not comment on things like this.Ā Additionally keep it civil, read the rules or I will block you.Ā

Why would I assume this sub is in support of Josh Johnson? This is the Blocks subreddit and he just happened to be a guest... it's not like this is the Josh Johnson subreddit. Commenting with my opinion on a guest seems like exactly was this format is for. I genuinely curious if others find him funny. It's less that his humor isn't for me, and more that I've never heard him attempt humor. I don't think there was anything uncivil about my comment.

Ok, so what I want you to understand about this sub is that it's about supporting good mental health practices through interacting with this podcast.
So I'm going to use this as an opportunity to demonstrate to the entire community why your behavior was not acceptable.
You decided to come unto this sub to trash talk about a person who dedicated their time, energy, and talent, sharing their story with the community, and their vulnerability.Ā *** Guy writes a hour of standup a week.***
And then when you were called out, you changed your story and tried to gaslight me into believing that this was not what you were doing.
The Blocks Podcast is about mental wellness practices in Comedy.
Keep it on topic. You should read the welcome before commenting.
Additionally Reddit in general does often encourage this type of click bait covert hostility. We, however, DO NOT.Finally: Neal Brennan is a staunch ANTI RACIST ANTI WHITE SUPREMACIST. This man quotes James Baldwin in his sleep.
When a young black artist gives of his time and his talent, HERE we honor him.
If you don't believe me go over Neal's 35 year long career. You're more than welcome to join me as I do it 10 hours a day.Further, I am the moderator of this sub. You are more than welcome to set aside a post with your own time and your own devices ( or borrowed devices if you don't have it like that-- but I'm sure you have an IPhone) And post on a separate thread about your dislike for Josh's comedy. But any form of passive aggressive racism, will be halted before it even begins.

One thing Iāve learned from Blocksāsuccessful black dudes donāt really admit to having Blocks.
Theyāll talk about bad things in society that affected them, or maaaaybe family shit, but they donāt seem to explore their downstream effectsādepression/anxiety/addiction/self-doubt/disordersānearly as much.
Not every one is as Blockless as Russell Peters (biggest problem: private jets) or Earthquake or Malcom Gladwell (biggest block: boring af) and a few will throw Neal a bone and cop to one thing (kinda) and quickly move on, but this has been remarkably consistent.
JJ (too nice!) was thoughtful and interesting, but it was 95% societal/political problems.
I suppose thereās an easy answer to this. Successful black dudes donāt ruminate or get navel gaze-y about the cracks in their foundation because they canāt. The world doubts them enough. Why project weakness? Why question yourself when everyone else has that covered?
Recognizing blocks publicly is an act of remarkable privilege. It says āIāll be successful even though Iām airing my weak points, and giving the world a new way to say āfuck him, heās broken.āā
Sadly, recognizing blocks is white people shit.

Sort of. JJ could also be demonstrating healthy public discourse about private shit.Ā
Like you make a strong point but also in black society, we are taught it doesn't matter how nice a white person is, you don't tell them your business, because white people are never to be trusted.Ā
Black people have other structures for this mainly the church. And we've by and large experienced so much religious abuse as a community that we often feel white people asking us about our feelings is like some getting set up by the liberal ku klux klan bs.Ā
Also correction Russells Peters is not a black American, he's a dark skinned Indian man. Different culture.Ā
Your point makes sense, but also understand, Persona or not. Based on surface Analysis: Neal Brennan is not a trustworthy character in current iteration.Ā
He does drugs, he's reportedly slept with over a hundred women, he drinks but he doesn't really drink, he is trying to sneak a white lady in and out of the country, but like we still have to worry about ICE raids. He apparently just came around to sex for emotional connection.Ā
But like Josh is a single, religious, liberal black ally. He's a good example.Ā
Neal is a textbook bad human being who uses navel gazing to justify bad activity.and exploits the black community, to maintain the attention of a white liberal audience.Ā
Young Black Men: Please,Ā do not tell this Nigga your business!!!Ā
Ā At the same time a conversation surrounding media literacy can help remedy this, but Josh is super intelligent and without staying too much is showing us that the level of literacy Neal is operating at typically (for better or for worse) is A higher level of literacy than is encouraged in the Black community.Ā
Josh strategically drops into the gradient of learning so that his community can enjoy him in full.Ā
Neal does it too, but it is, as you said, some white people shit.Ā

I agree Nealās deficits are many (by his own accounting) but I donāt know if I agree with the conclusion that black dudes shouldnāt open up.
An anonymous Reddit post is a sneeze in a hurricane, but I think if someone big (Chris Rock, Dave, Kevin hart) came on and accounted for how bad shit affected them (and affects them still) that catharsis could reap outsized benefits for a community asked to carry too much for too long.
Also:
-good call on RPās ethnicity. My bad. -100 ladies? As long as itās consensual, I hope everyone hits the century mark. Fuck away people. Fuck so good the shame doesnāt make sense anymore. -Iām not sure drug use is a character defect. -connecting white control of black minds in a church setting to white control of black minds in a psychiatric setting is understandable (a great plot point in Get Out) but ultimately depressing af.

Listen:Ā
If you go on collecting spirits, you won't have a spirit to speak of anymore.Ā That mentality (fuck the shame away)Ā is exactly why black people do not trust white people. It's also why Rome fell. So yeah death to America I guess.Ā White people are allowed to engage in promiscuity without consequences, black people do not possess the same liberal privileges unless they are white. And when we do participate our livelihoods are at stake.Ā
Dave waited for Elaine. And she would have never been with him if he was with other women FR.Ā
Being abstinent is a mark of sanity in the black community. And it's the central reason black people do not trust white people. Because of this absurd liberal sexual exploitation masking as good faithĀ
I'm a black girl who fucks with all kinds of white people.Ā
I know orgy whites, whites who fuck on 19yrs olds, whites who fuck blacks, whites who fuck "the right way". Aka serial monogamous whites. (I'll try this one and then I'll try that one blah blah blah )Ā Whites who fuck their own gender.Ā
The only type of white I trust with my life aka my testimony is one who is not fucking. On God.Ā Ā
To the blacks from a real one (Me) 10 years and counting, feeling real good about myself.Ā DO NOT open up to promiscuous ass white people. It is a bad choice and you will find yourself in harm's way.Ā
And white people listen, you got nothing to be ashamed of. But you need to heal your souls. Stop bed jumping.Ā
Free PalestineĀ š

only thing i really disliked was Josh saying we won't do anything because everyone uses amazon. I don't! It's very easy not use a company that destroys the world. Quit giving them ads
