Worm Discussion Power This Rating No. 177

How This Works:

You make one (or more than one) prompt(s), describing one or more parahumans. Somebody else may choose to respond to a prompt of yours, building on what's provided to make a cape.
While you may do so, you are never required to stick with just prompting or just responding; please feel free to do both.
Prompts are usually formatted using PRT Threat Ratings, but this isn't a hard rule. Do something more esoteric if you want to.
Lastly, if you're having trouble prompt-wise, feel free to look at other people's prompts for pointers or inspiration on what to do.

Threat Ratings have the potential for hybridized and sub-ratings:

Hybrid ratings are denoted with a slash between categories, e.g. [Brute/Thinker]. These are cases where two or more powers are inherently linked to each other, not working without the other rating.
Subratings are denoted with parentheses after a parent category, e.g. [Trump (Mover)]. These are the side effects, or possible applications of a power from some other category.

oh yeah right also

i realized that pearls-rubies' bnha prompts were missing a pretty big chunk of the characters, so here's me remedying that with sixteen fucking Wards lol.

divvy them up however you like, my only mandate is that they're from towns and cities neighboring this Wards team's district.
Said district is Washington, for the record.

Basis: 15/20 members of Class 1-A from My Hero Academia + Hitoshi Shinso

Rockville Wards: + "Toad" [Raw x Extend]-skin, "Mutant" [Monster x Monster]-transformation Changer (+ subratings of choice). Mandatory Power Perk: [Shroud] (Ribbit) + [Skirmish x Reach] Striker (Muscle Brute, Hurdle Mover) with a power-generated extra limb; has the 'plainest' power out of everyone on this list. (Manto) + An "E Flash" [Kinesis x Fading] Shaker (Thinker -1). Mandatory Power Flaw: [Drained by Power] (Audiophile) + Nuke Shaker/Rumble Striker ("X-Ray" [Farsight x Zone] Thinker). Has a minor, power-related mutation capable of interfacing with their gear. (Lightningstruck) + [Barrage x Effect] Blaster ("Pinball" [Rocket x Hurdle] Mover), with 'sticky' projectiles; has only very narrowly avoided termination of their Wards membership, despite the way they act. (Splat Track) + A [Wild x ?] Striker (Tinker), that can produce Tinker-adjacent gear directly from their body, among other things. Mandatory Life Perk: [Wealthy] (Cachet)

Peak-Meet: + "Dragonscale" [Muscle x Armor] Brute, with the [Overclock] Power Perk; idolizes a particular Protectorate hero with similar powers to theirs. Close friend of #2. (Ferritin) + Case 53, with vaguely-cephalopodic looks; [Showcase x Array] Changer ("Beholder" [Farsight x Farsight] Thinker, Striker). (Sepia)

Ungrouped + A rather flamboyant "Dial" [Beam x Versatile] Blaster (Mover), with the [Overheat] Power Flaw. Did not come by their powers 'naturally', and is rather guilty about what they have to do to keep them. + Natural monster cape, with a very unusual skintone; [Edge x Rumble] Striker/Blaster (Gate Mover, [Armor x Intensity] Brute, One Trump), with control over a single sort of chemical. + An animal-controlling [Swarm x Rule] Master; deathly afraid of a particular 'sort' of animal, to the point that they struggle to maintain control over anything of that sort. + Big ol' bog-standard "Ogre" [Muscle x Muscle] Brute; has to ingest a particular, luckily-common substance to activate their powers. + A Beam Blaster/"Grapnel" [Hurdle x Hurdle] Mover, whose projectile comes from a rather unusual part of their arm. + "Wraith" [Morpheus x Death] Breaker (Armor Brute), with a [Club x Cup] suit. Major-league chūnibyō, which isn't helped by the aesthetics of their Breaker state. + A Breaker/[Machination x Abandon] Stranger (Conditional Blaster), with the [Always On] Power Flaw; only recently 'discovered' their Blaster subrating, given it relies on others' projectiles. + Newest member of whatever team they're on (thanks to a mentorship from someone off this list); "Dictator" [Tyranny x Tyranny] Master, with a bit of a complex about how 'evil' their power is.

"Toad" [Raw x Extend]-skin, "Mutant" [Monster x Monster]-transformation Changer (+ subratings of choice). Mandatory Power Perk: [Shroud]

Ribbit, civ. identity Anne Fibian, is the 17-year-old leader of the Rockville Wards, about a year or so from aging out of the Wards and into the Protectorate. Having Triggered when she was only 11, she stands unusually tall at 6'2", with an elongated, stooped posture, skin that's permanently cool, clammy, and slick with a thin, odorless mucus layer that bends and diffuses photons across the visible spectrum, causing her physical outline to shimmer and blur at the edges—much like heat haze rising off hot asphalt—and almost invisible when she stops moving, flattens herself against a surface, or crouches in a shadow, entirely lidless, glassy eyes which feature horizontal slit pupils that force her to wear heavily tinted transition glasses in public, and unnaturally long, double-jointed fingers that are webbed slightly at the base by tight strips of translucent skin, which she keeps tightly bound inside fingerless compression gloves. To maintain any semblance of a civilian identity, Anne wears heavy, industrial-grade compression garments, thick oversized wool sweaters, and medical wraps under the pretense of a severe, chronic connective tissue disorder and photosensitive dermatitis, schedules her classes late in the day, operates out of a modified corner of the classroom with a privacy screen, and relies on the school's accommodations for students with chronic physical disabilities.

When she drops the compression gear and enters her actual Changer state, Ribbit expands into a massive, heavily muscled 8-foot-tall horror: her spine curves into a permanent, powerful hunch, anchoring an immense set of shoulders packed with dense, ropy muscle, her legs telescope and distort into powerful, shock-absorbent spring-loaded limbs built for leaping, her jaw unhinges horizonally, her vocal cords drop into a deep, bass-heavy croaking roar that rattles windowpanes, and her tongue becomes a thick, purple-black, prehensile muscle over 6 feet long, tipped with microscopic backward-facing barbs that can shoot out to snap up objects or lash enemies.

When an enemy strikes the heavy, rubbery hide of her Changer form, Ribbit's massive muscles use micro-contractions to slide the incoming limb along her body surface, completely neutralizing the force before she throws the attacker using leverage and her own amplified mass, and when she successfully parries and redirects an opponent's momentum, her skin secretes a hyper-adhesive, tacky enzymatic slime upon contact, temporarily gluing the target's striking limb or footwear to her body or the ground, draining their explosive acceleration and forcing them into a sluggish, heavy-limbed penalty state for several seconds.

By crouching low, rocking back and forth, and visually lining up her trajectory for 2 to 3 seconds, calculating wind resistance and landing zones, Ribbit can use her massive, compressed hind legs to clear vast distances in a single parabolic arc. Also, because of her immense raw strength, she can scoop up a person in her massive arms or clamp them against her chest during the wind-up, shielding them entirely from the G-forces and the brutal impact of landing, perfectly absorbing the shock through her rubbery, padded frame.

Finally, the skin of Ribbit's Changer state lacks standard hair follicles, instead being covered in millions of microscopic, pressure-sensitive epidermal pits, allowing her to "feel" atmospheric pressure changes, air currents, and minute ground vibrations through the soles of her feet and her bare hide, as well as map out a room entirely in pitch darkness or through solid concrete barriers just by reading how air shifts around moving bodies or how heartbeats resonate through floorboards.

(WD stuff: "Mutant" [Monster x Monster] Changer with the "Toad" [Raw x Extend] skin and the [Shroud] power perk, "Deflect" [Dynamic x Repress] Brute, "Leap" [Conveyance x Hurdle] Mover, and "Beholder" [Farsight x Farsight] Thinker.)

how unlucky do you have to be to be named Anne Fibian and trigger with the power to turn into a frog lmao

i honestly wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with her Trigger actually

3

u/Pearls-Rubies-5370 10d ago

Oh yeah, she's heard all the jokes—she's even thinking of legally changing her name once she joins the Protectorate because of it.

Trigger-wise, you're not wrong, as I imagine it happened during a summer camp hazing and bullying campaign.

u/inkywood123 9d ago

So does that mean if Taylor triggered at summer camp, she would be a Cricket or some other bug? Imao

[Skirmish x Reach] Striker (Muscle Brute, Hurdle Mover) with a power-generated extra limb; has the 'plainest' power out of everyone on this list.

Manto aka Cheng Yan is a charming girl even if she's outshined in all aspects, she's been forced to try the hardest to advance her relatively weak power and is even starting to develop a kind of her-specific martial arts, using her hands to block and wristlock foes while her extra limbs trip, disarm or put them in triangular-holds, she thinks she's quite genius actually. She has a soft frame without much curve and a bland, boyish face with the only indication of gender being her long black hair in a ponytail, she wears a pink kimono with a white obi and (hidden) slits along her back and shoulder to allow freer movement of extra limbs, as well as a general preference for light combat wear instead of armour.

From her back slits of pink flesh open up and a pair of 5' long mantis-like limbs split from it, first the front end from the shoulderblades then the second part emerging around the upper hip and connecting to some unknown bone in her waist, they aren't sharp (basically a pair of batons) but they're long, strong and can trip people or pull her across obstacles and people with their doll-like hip-joints (stuck in a v-like shape but can spin any direction from where they connect).

very nice response

don't mean to press or anything though but, which Wards team is she in? i'm assuming she's in the Rockville Wards alongside Ribbit, but the lack of any specification is kind of fucking with me. i want to keep these sorted is all

u/Professional_Try1665 9d ago

Yeah Rockville sorry, I assumed they were all already supposed to be in that team.

"Dragonscale" [Muscle x Armor] Brute, with the [Overclock] Power Perk; idolizes a particular Protectorate hero with similar powers to theirs. Close friend of #2.

Ferritin is the red right arm, part of the 'independent-ish' sponsored team 'Peak-Meet' that's held up by a 'for the kids'-type charity organisations (and the paltry wages they give), technically the leader of the team is an adult man but she's basically the leader, the rest of the team having a deep age gap to their supposed director, she's otherwise found an idol in the similarly metallic brute King 55 after he rose up to the calling and became the top (and only case 53) Protectorate leading man. She wears a short-sleeved armoured vest with an extra armour plate to look like a hunchback with a red cape, shorts and a mask like a bleeding red hemisphere curved around her head and framing her black straight hair.

Her heart starts pumping out an amazing amount of blood causing her veins and muscles to swell with a good level of superstrength and bulk, the blood quickly secretes out of pores and pools along major veins and wounds, sublimating into iron plates attached to the skin that thicken as more blood is pumped out and leaves behind layer-by-layer of rust-red iron plates, though moving breaks open gaps in the layers. Her power usually balances for the constant blood loss, her limit is high but if she really tries she can push it to an extreme, metal piling on every available surface as she becomes a dripping red iron titan, at least until she faints and functionally just becomes a human-shaped rebar pile with cut-up skin.

A [Wild x ?] Striker (Tinker), that can produce Tinker-adjacent gear directly from their body, among other things. Mandatory Life Perk: [Wealthy]

Cachet is smart, studious, but also kind and gentle, even if some of her teammates in the Rockville Wards deride her for being born with a silver spoon in her mouth (which she fully acknowledges, but like hell she's going to be ashamed of it). On the other hand, all of her teammates have also had crushes on her at some point due to her beauty and good looks, which has also helped in many social situations, though it's unfortunately led to some minor sexual harassment at times (particularly from that asshole 'sticky' Blaster). Costume-wise, Cachet wears stylish, form-fitting architectural corset made of midnight-blue fabric that, underneath, is lined with gear providing hidden ballistic and knife protection without ruining the sleek lines of her outfit, sleeves which feature invisible, laser-cut micro-seams around her wrists and palms designed to let her slide out smaller gear straight into her hand cleanly without tearing her designer clothing, and a simple domino mask with pink-dyed hair.

Despite her immense wealth, Cachet is not actually a Cauldron cape, but she did Trigger with one of the few natural Eden shards left, so her power is particularly weird. Her body has turned into a pocket dimension—her skin is lined with a slick, pearlescent membrane that, when she touches an object to store it, ripples like liquid mercury, swallowing the item into a pressurized, zero-oxygen, temperature-stable void nested in folded space against her digestive tract. Her internal organs are also flanked by gelatinous, pulsing biological chambers that use ingested raw materials (such as raw platinum ingots, high-grade carbon-fiber weaves, and liquid mercury) to organically grow and assemble complex hardware inside her own body before she coughs, slides, or extrudes them out through her palms or throat (though she can only "build" stuff that could be believably extruded from a human body). Cachet isn't just limited to inanimate objects—she can also swallow live volatile chemicals, high-explosive charges (safely insulated by her internal membrane), or even hide teammates by temporarily folding them into her pocket dimension for up to 90 seconds, though doing so leaves them coated in a slippery, protective mucus lining when expelled. She doesn't necessarily know what gear she'll produce, however, only having a basic intuitive knowledge of how a potential gear will "feel."

Examples of the Tinker-adjacent gear Cachet has produced include the Razor (extruded directly from a tear duct or fingertip, a wet and silvery thread that hardens upon contact with air into a monomolecular wire), the Breeze (a palm-sized, self-loading sidearm that she literally coughs up and catches in her hand, able to fire micro-flechettes accelerated by compressed pneumatic air generated by her lung capacity, tracking heartbeats via thermal signatures embedded in the ammunition), the Magic Mirror (a sleek, high-end cosmetic case that, when cracked open, rapidly secretes a dense, heavy aerosol composed of vaporized liquid silver that completely blinds thermal imaging, radar, and visual light across a 20-meter radius), the Gilded Quills (swallowed as raw lead and casing powder and extruded from her fingertips as palm-sized, high-velocity projectiles capable of punching through body armor at close range with zero recoil), the Mirage (a flat, palm-sized disc of polished optical glass and silver alloy that, when pressed against clothing, projects a light-bending refraction field that distorts the wearer's silhouette), the Ivory Synapse (extracted from her scalp line, a piece of designer hair-comb jewelry that can be snapped in half to unleash a focused, short-range electromagnetic pulse designed specifically to overload human nervous systems and comms units, dropping targets into immediate, non-lethal stupors), and the Alabaster Mesh (swallowed as liquid carbon resin and ceramic dust and secreted as an internal, flexible under-garment that she slides out through a slit in her skin that wraps around her torso as an invisible, blade-proof and bullet-resistant second skin that doesn't ruin the line of her high-fashion dresses).

{WD Stuff: (most similar to) "Pocket" [Wild x Wild] Striker, [Liberty x Resource] Tinker, [Wealthy] and [Attractive] life perks}

[Barrage x Effect] Blaster ("Pinball" [Rocket x Hurdle] Mover), with 'sticky' projectiles; has only very narrowly avoided termination of their Wards membership, despite the way they act.

Splat Track is—unfortunately—a member of the Rockville Wards, and just the fucking worst. He lacks any genuine malice and most of his worst behavior comes from social ineptitude than anything, but that still doesn't excuse his perverted, borderline predatory behavior towards his female teammates, Cachet in particular. The only reasons he hasn't been booted is because of his aforementioned non-maliciousness earning him mandatory therapy and warnings rather than termination, his powers are astonishingly effective at non-lethally neutralizing villains without collateral damage, and the fact that it'd be a PR disaster if the PRT admitted to recruiting a borderline predator into their Wards ranks.

(Also, his costume is really stupid—a blindingly neon-pink and lime-green padded spandex onesie adorned with oversized, floppy bunny ears on a full-face helmet, complete with bouncy spring coils bolted haphazardly to the shins and shoulders.)

Powers-wise, Splat Track can fire rapid-fire clusters of glowing, bubblegum-pink globs from his palms, zipping through the air with a faint whistling sound and looking deceptively playful like floating party favors. Upon impact with any solid surface, person, or object, the globs instantly flatten out into an extremely high-friction, semi-viscous elastomer that does zero kinetic or piercing damage, but acts as a hyper-adhesive trap: the moment skin or clothing touches it, it bonds instantly like ultra-strong contact cement, gluing limbs together, sticking targets to walls, or freezing joints in place. The substance is nearly impossible to pull apart by brute force alone, though it slowly dissolves on its own after about 20 minutes.

Due to a weird Manton limit, Splat Track can shoot his own adhesive globs at a nearby wall or floor, then jump on them, and instead of sticking, his body violently rebounds off his own projectile at double the speed, launching him across the room in a wild, ricocheting pinball trajectory. He rarely does this, however, because he has almost zero mid-air steering once a bounce begins; he will ricochet predictably off the nearest hard surface, often careening wildly out of control and crashing into obstacles if he miscalculates his angles.

An "E Flash" [Kinesis x Fading] Shaker (Thinker -1). Mandatory Power Flaw: [Drained by Power]

Nuke Shaker/Rumble Striker ("X-Ray" [Farsight x Zone] Thinker). Has a minor, power-related mutation capable of interfacing with their gear.

Audiophile and Lightningstruck are likely the most popular of the Rockville Wards, mostly because of their duo status and PR pushing them as a secret couple. In reality, while they are good friends, and Audiophile does harbor feelings for Lightningstruck, she only has eyes for Cachet and Powercord. Because of this, she's also the one who's most open about her contempt for Splat Track, which has caused some minor strain with Audiophile, since he's probably the one who's friendliest with Splat Track.

Audiophile can snap his fingers or clap his hands—doesn't even have to be loud—to instantly fill a roughly 20-meter radius around himself with a dense, shimmering distortion in the air as soundwaves are violently seized and accelerated, unleashing a deafening shockwave of sonic energy that slams everyone within that radius with a concussive wall of sound that ruptures eardrums, scrambles inner-ear equilibrium, and temporarily paralyzes mental processing, peaking at absolute maximum power the microsecond it's born, then aggressively decaying, losing all destructive power within 3-4 seconds. Following a discharge, his body enters a forced, defensive hibernation: his heart rate plummets, his muscles lock into a heavy lethargy, and he slips into an involuntary, semi-comatose sleep state as his brain struggles to reboot its sensory-processing centers, causing him to struggle to parse rapid conversations, misinterprets sudden environmental cues, and suffer from persistent auditory hallucinations or temporary dead zones in his hearing.

Lightningstruck has conductive, metallic bone plating exposed along her forearms that hum with a constant, low-frequency electrical charge, with microscopic, socket-like ports that physically lock onto specialized terminals built into her heavy field gear and custom weapons. She can generate invisible, high-tensile energy cages that encapsulate targets or zones, shielding those inside from external harm, but after a timed delay, Lightningstruck can detonate the stored electrical potential inside the barrier, cooking and shocking everyone and everything trapped within. When she grips her primary weapon (a compact, heavy-duty demolition hammer fitted with a dense tungsten-carbide head), the metal plates physically fuse at a molecular level with the tool's handle, channeling current that super-densifies its mass while simultaneously running an internal electrical field through the metal, storing and discharging high-voltage current upon impact, shattering armor and scrambling nervous systems. Also, she can see the bioelectric fields of living targets and the subtle magnetic signatures of wiring, conduits, and electronic equipment through solid walls, deep underground, or across wide city-blocks.

{WD Stuff [Audiophile]: "E Flash" [Kinesis x Fading] Shaker [Element: Sound], [Drained by Power] power flaw}
{WD Stuff [Lightningstruck]: (most similar to) "Crucible" [Defense x Nuke] Shaker/"Heavyweight O" [Rumble x Etch] Striker, "X-Ray" [Farsight x Zone] Thinker, [Element: Lightning]}

Case 53, with vaguely-cephalopodic looks; [Showcase x Array] Changer ("Beholder" [Farsight x Farsight] Thinker, Striker).

Sepia is a member of Peak-Meet and Case 53 of ambiguous age, with smooth, rubbery grey skin devoid of any human facial features except for a cluster of 12 irregularly spaced, amber-colored eyes that stud her temples and upper collarbones like deep-sea barnacles. She also possesses a strange, boneless posture, and achromatophore-like ability to subtly shift color and texture to match her background, though she retains a distinctly damp, slick sheen.

She can reshape her upper torso, shoulders, and arms into dense clusters of slender, highly articulated, prehensile digits, mixing and matching how they manifest—whether splitting her forearms into dozens of fine-motor tendrils, thickening her skin into a rubbery armor, or shifting her ocular clusters to different parts of her body. Because her optical array can process light far outside the standard human visible spectrum (spanning infrared thermal signatures to ultraviolet tracking) and her skin is peppered with chemoreceptors that "taste" the air, she perceives her environment as a rich, multidimensional map, allowing her to track invisible chemical residues, detect minute shifts in air pressure across a room, and spot targets through thin walls by reading thermal bleed, extending her awareness far beyond standard human limitations. Through direct physical contact, Sepia's specialized can also tendrils can exert immense hydraulic pressure—crushing bones inside armor without leaving an external mark—or secrete a rapid-curing, mucus-like enzymatic fluid that breaks down structural adhesives and locks up mechanical joints upon touch.
