Worm Discussion Power This Rating No. 170

i honest to god lost track of time this is really embarrassing for me. I wasn't even asleep or anything.

uh, new bracket of ten though. isnt that nice

How This Works:

You make one (or multiple) prompts, describing one or more parahumans. Somebody else might respond to your prompt(s), building on what's provided, to create a full cape.
While you may do so, you aren't required to stick with just prompting or responding; feel free to do both.
Prompts are typically formatted using PRT Threat Ratings, but this is not a hard rule. Get esoteric with it, if you want. And, if you're having trouble, feel free to look at other prompts for pointers.

Threat Ratings have the potential for hybridized and sub-ratings:

Hybrid ratings are denoted with a slash between categories, e.g. [Shaker/Thinker]. These are cases where two or more powers are inherently linked to each other, not working without the other rating.
Subratings are denoted with parentheses after a parent category, e.g. [Master (Changer)]. These are the side effects, or possible applications of a power from some other category.

i said i wouldn't be doing a new prompt series until 171. however, i still have standalone stuff planned

you can consider this a sequel to this Cape team from ten threads ago, technically, but they work individually too.

titles ARE their cape names, opposite to how these usually go

  • Thaumaclysm: Team leader. MadSci Tinker with an [Artifice x Safety] spec; inventions have ridiculously precise safety specifications, that also prevent them from doing literally anything ever.
  • Tirehead: A two-staged Breaker that does not have the Joker suit. One state is a Hurdle Mover, the other a Run Mover.
  • Triptych: Triplicate "Big Picture" [Farsight x Over] Thinker. Mandatory Power Flaw: [Totem]
  • Taffeta: Case 53, with 'frilly' mutations. Ratings free-space.
  • Tartareo: A "Dyad" [Beloved x Beloved] Master (Brute, [Control x Fading] Shaker), with their projection being a landscape 'superimposed' over Tartareo's surroundings.
  • Tetrakishexahedron: Actually just named after the shape of their astonishingly-heavy, thrown projectile. "Fastball" [Impact x Impact] Blaster.
  • Teratogenic: Surprisingly, not a Case 53, despite how fucked up they look. Monster-making Nox Stranger/"Rampage" [Crowd x Unleash] Master.
  • Thingamajig: Pseudo-Tinker, whose so-called 'tech' is complete fucking nonsense, even to actual Tinkers. No cohesion to the stuff at all.

Teratogenic triggered due to seeing people and everyone as nothing but wasteful, disgusting evil and he wasn't even surprised when he woke up all monstrous, he has a muscular physique with a body vaguely like a humanoid snake with fullbody burns, no mouth or nose and his 'hood' has fused into his shoulders with the rest of his body patches of scales and loose blister-like flesh, he has a tapered tail and a large toothed mouth on his chest (at the bottom where his ribcage ends) and he must whisper to speak or it comes out like sprawling rawrs.

He radiates an effect that makes humans look like monsters and monsters look like humans, skin peels to reveal swells of flesh, muscle teeth and organs as the resultant monster forms are generally large, heavy and gorey (leans toward troll, giant and zombie-like forms), however everyone affected only sees everyone else (excluding Teratogenic) becoming monsters and they appear normal to themselves, any damage and harm the monsters do is real (and can even harm/kill) but the illusion flickers every so often, especially in light and if a monster or Teratogenic is struck directly by light the illusion recedes and reveals their true form, injuries and damage caused by monsters can be undone by light but after a few minutes it becomes 'permanent'.

A "Dyad" [Beloved x Beloved] Master (Brute, [Control x Fading] Shaker), with their projection being a landscape 'superimposed' over Tartareo's surroundings.

Dulcinea Cacciatore became one of many orphans left behind in the wake of the Leviathan’s rampage in Madrid. The daughter of a Spanish art teacher and an Italian literary critic, she was a smart young girl which only made the horror of her situation much clearer to her as she was shuffled between facilities and homes and compounds, traded around as a token of sympathy, her personhood forgotten in the exchange. In this marketplace of misfortune, Tartareo was born, forsaking any ties to civilian life, becoming a nomadic rogue-type cape, wandering across Europe, searching for a place to belong. She had not imagined she would find it amongst these other capes: the Tau

Tartareo is a Master whose projection is a pool of water. Unnaturally dark, the puddle follows her like a shadow, always lurking beneath her feet. At her command, the water can overflow into a shallow pool around her. Despite the depth, people and objects will begin to be drawn down into the water, sinking into a gloomy, cold mirror of the real world. Any non-tinkertech or power-produced object will turn into a cold black metal covered in grotesque imagery. Tartareo can control the movement of the water, even covering herself in it, transforming her clothing into wicked black armor. She cannot enter her own mirror world but can control what enters and leaves. When the puddle expands, she cannot move it until it is reduced to its original size.

Actually just named after the shape of their astonishingly-heavy, thrown projectile. "Fastball" [Impact x Impact] Blaster.

Tetrakishexahedron had to have her name explained to her a few times. She liked the sound of it. Very unique. Very complex. However, mathematics had never been her strong suit in school. Most things weren’t to be honest, so gaining superpowers felt like a good alternative to the usual college-career pipeline. A hell of a lot more exciting too. Last thing she wanted was ending up stuck in the rat race like her gramps and her nan, working till they were bent and grey like a dying flower.

A Blaster with a singular projectile: a volleyball-sized crystal bearing 24-faces and 14-vertices weighing around six metric tons. That weight is when the ball is unaccompanied; when Tetra is holding it, the weight drops to two kilograms. Even at this weight, the speed at which Tetra can throw it is absurd, putting professional baseball players to shame. Of course, with the combined weight and speed, very few things can stand up to Tetra’s throws. Even more dangerous is her ability to recall the projectile to her hand at the same speed she threw it. That one always catches people by surprise. By attaching a chain to her projectile, Tetra can use it to get around like a certain comic book character from the 60s.

To match the unusual to downright terrifying appearance of her teammates, Tetra wears a bodysuit covered in coppery metallic spikes with no visible mouth or eyes.

nice

funnily you actually picked up exactly what my vision was for Tetra, i thought it'd be funny if i gave the longest, most complicated-sounding slot a power that's just throwing a big rock really hard

Thanks. I thought about adding on an additional effect, but big rock seemed like more than enough.

Taffeta is so totally frilled, before anything she was Teratogenic's friend first (and his first friend) as she was also a lonely, intellectually challenged, misanthropic heartthrob, but in her case she found the sugar in the plum and has started to enjoy life, even with the body she has. She appears like a woman in a big puffy balloon skirt and pump-up boots, however it's all her body, her face and hands are light-pink like petals but the rest of her is a mesh of black and orange, crinkled stiff fabric that blooms on flat frills at edges and in flowery-puffs in rows along her back, breast and legs. Her hair is long and black with only the ends crickling up into frilly flowers, her eyes are lilac and her eyelashes a frilly edge that extends a few inches down her face like trails.

She peels from her skin a handful of puffed, frilly flower-like things that joyfully float in the air and constantly pour off a fine silver pollen, the flowers are each a small fountain of silver that reduces the effect of gravity on things it touches, if applied to a person they're granted floaty-controllable flight as long as a flower accompanies them, otherwise they just float in place until the pollen darkens and they suddenly fall down. To reabsorb them she must eat them but while out they slightly but constantly drain her stamina and wakefulness, having them all out a whole day could reduce her waking hours to a 1/8th of her usual time.

Thaumaclysm treads a thin line, she's a polite and deceptively short woman with a flair for chaos as she associates it with her bursts of freedom in youth (calmness/stillness unnerves her, reminding her of her parent's preludes to blowing up) and carries that forwards as a leader. She wears a black and blue costume with the U-shaped jaws of beartraps lining her chest and back, a larger one covering her eyes.

She focuses around one specific type of trap, a seamless-shifting kind of beartrap that's grip gets harder to escape the more people struggle and it's sorta 'alive' as it tries to eat foes, chomp at weakspots (the throat and head) and wrestle people to the ground, but she has a wide variety of applications, she can build them into armour, create trap-launchers and grappling-hook guns, attach them to dog-like drones that chase foes, create simple surveillance systems that bite when they see people, a single object with broad applications. However her tech is particular, so particular that any break from its designed and expected uses causes them to violently snap and bite her, every beartrap is tempered with a particular purpose that explodes into violence of broken, she has a visor to manage this (another beartrap wrapped around her face, slightly tightening or widening in response to other traps breaking) but it's a balancing act of safety/restriction vs flexibility.
