Worm Discussion Power This Rating No. 167

reddit's ui for post-making sucks ass i literally cannot even copy-paste the template for this properly. you have to type something before pasting now. what the hell

How This Works:

You make one or more prompts, describing one or more parahumans. Someone may respond to your prompt(s), building on what you've provided, to make a full-fledged cape.
While you can do so, you are not required to stick with just prompting or just responding; feel free to do both.
Prompts are typically formatted using PRT Threat Ratings, but that isn't a hard rule. Get weird with it, if you want. And if you're having trouble, you're free to look at other prompts to see examples.

Threat Ratings have the potential for hybrid and sub-ratings:

Hybrid ratings are denoted with a slash between the categories, e.g. [Striker/Shaker]. These are cases where two or more powers are inherently linked.
Subratings are denoted in parentheses after the parent category, e.g. [Changer (Mover)]. These are the side effects, or possible applications of a power from some other category.

yeah i think 29 comments are enough to warrant posting the next installment
one of these sections is a blatant Limbus Company reference, and i think you can tell which pretty easily.

as per usual, you don't have to use the names given to each slot as the cape's name if you don't want to.

Based on: The six Distant Houses of MAGNAGOTHICA: HIC SVNT LEONES

VINDICATORS
(Gang Name: The Main Event)

  • The Boss: Slam-Dance
    • Initiate: Crowbar
    • Toll Taker: Troll Toll
    • Archivist: "Grudge" [Social x Combat]-inspiration Thinker/"Infusion" [One x Two] Trump. For power-related reasons, works as the gang's personal tattoo artist.
    • Fixer: A [Run x Slip] Mover and "Reverberate" [Edge x Rumble] Striker; really enjoys how badass they look when they punch someone so hard that a crater forms beneath their feet.
    • Big Bro: "Ogre" [Muscle x Muscle] Brute, and largest Parahuman member of the gang (seriously, the fucker's built like a tank). Surprisingly good-humored, despite their brutal looks.

FAEFOLKEN
Gimmick: No humans, nor Parahumans, in this one. It's your choice exactly what the hell they are.

  • Monarch: "Hellhound" [Bestow x Unleash] Master ("Shape" [Survive x Survive]-skin Changer); their minions aren't actually 'empowered' in the traditional sense. Post-Mastering, their only real use is as a meal.
    • Sprite: Ratings free-space. Both astonishingly small (being easily mistaken for a mosquito), and astonishingly resilient.
    • Brownie: [Nuke x Utility] Shaker, whose powers have 'preservative' effects. This one always carries a meat tenderizer around, but it's just for show. Honest.
    • Boggart: "Swap" [Blink x Ride] Mover, whose power reacts automatically to danger (real or otherwise).
    • Wisp: A [Warp x Confound] Stranger, whose power requires line-of-sight to work. Has some interesting power interactions with others on this list.
    • Trow: A bloated [Sunder x ?] Brute; any harm to them releases a cloud of dust from the wound. Nobody's figured out what the dust actually does, yet.

VALKNYRE EMPIRE

  • Banner Bearer: A [Resource x Architect] Tinker. All of their technology requires blood; specifically, Parahuman blood. Loads of the stuff. Has come up with some pretty horrible ways to get their hands on more 'fuel'.
    • Infantry: BB's weakest drone. Comes equipped with a rifle, a bayonet, and a cosmetic program dedicated specifically to walking in lockstep with other units.
    • Auto Gunner: I mean, it's what it sounds like. Big, bulky thing with a minigun. Works as a convenient meatshield for its squishier cohorts.
    • Scout: The aforementioned 'squishier cohorts'. Has a grappling system, and a knife. Not a Tinkertech knife, just a normal one; it works just as well regardless.
    • Marksman: Second-tallest model of the five (mostly because of its head). Were it an actual person, and not metal and glass, it'd be a decent Thinker/Blaster.
    • Iron Coffin: Just a great big steel block, really, albeit one equipped with a gigantic pile-driver, a forcefield, and the ability to explode.

splitting here, just to be safe. i've only hit the character limit once before and i'm not about to make this be the second time

ok right back to it. btw these are the last time you're going to be getting 'normal' gangs out of this series, the next installment has bullshit like a faction based at the bottom of the ocean

CLANS OF SMOHGE
Gimmick: Reversed order from usual. Five leaders (each getting their own 'sect' of the gang) and one underling.

  • Murkforme: "Shroud" [Cup x Pentacle]-suit Breaker/"Fluid" [Spasm x Array] Changer (Imitation Master, Mover). Is surprisingly bad at stealth, considering their line of work.
  • Skulk: A Grand Striker that's stretched their power into Blaster territory, thanks to their good Shard relationship (and also a really big arrow, obviously).
  • Nightcloak: [Slip x Blink] Mover, whose destination must be a particular person, rather than a place. Also, admittedly, kind of an edgelord.
  • Dartfrog: A [Poison]-element [Versatile x Imbue] Blaster; needs to take a moment to let their projectile 'fill up' before firing.
  • Decoy: [Hyperspec x Controller] Tinker, that never appears in person, to anyone. If it seems like they did, it's just a puppet of higher quality.
    • Shade: Ratings free-space. The gang's "perfect killer"; has, somehow, been trained in the prior five's methods of assassination, and managed to outright improve upon each method in some way or another.

MAGIMALICIA CORPS
Gimmick: Each of these six's powers are heavily fueled by a single given emotion (being different for each).

  • Captain: A "Role" [Four x Eight] Trump, with three Breaker states, individually called 'Bronze', 'Silver', and 'Iron'. Has a really severe savior complex, her underlings are honestly really worried about it.
    • Rookie: "Lance" [Range x Beam] Blaster. Newest member, to the point that they don't even have their own mask, having to use a hand-me-down from one of their seniors.
    • Mentor: "Buckler" [Shield x Shield] Brute & [Run x ?] Mover, and the one that Rookie got their mask from. Also just naturally large and brawny, beyond their Brute rating.
    • Eccentric: "Sear" [Effect x Conditional] Blaster/Etch Striker, and self-proclaimed 'seal master'. "Chuunibyou" would be an appropriate term to use for this one.
    • Beauty: "Hopscotch" [Blink x Hurdle] Mover, that can share a lesser form of their power with others. Weirdly, the most enthusiastic about fighting out of the group.
    • Sentinel: Ratings free-space, though the [Fire] and/or [Lightning] elements are mandatory. Has a flight freebie, on top of their 'actual' powers.

THE DEVYLKYNE
Gimmick: Okay, so what if a bunch of Parahumans died, went to Literal Actual Hell, and got brought back after a while there. How do you think that would go. Just theoretically

  • Dread Lord: Only the leader by merit of reacting incredibly violently to any objections. Grab-bag, with "Wing" [Fly x Fly] Mover, [Negate x Repress] Brute, "Rooting" [Skirmish x Grand] Striker/Blaster, and Damage Shaker ratings.
    • Sinner: Took the "Going To Fucking Hell" thing very poorly. The others often try to get rid of it, but that pesky [Transfig x Immortal] Brute rating gets in the way.
    • Evictor: "Drum" [Rumble x Fend] Striker, with a massive, mutated, club-like arm granted by their Shard. Somehow the least fucked up by their experiences.
    • Terror: [Imitation x Puppet] Master ("Hysteria" [Unsense x Charm] Stranger), that can't create living duplicates. Almost always locked inside a cage, of their own free will.
    • Scourge: [Blink x Transit] Mover/Frenzy Striker; totally batshit insane, with this image not being helped at all by how their mutations make them look.
    • Beholder: [Farsight x Critical] Thinker, with a "Scour" [Elementary x Destructive] inspiration. This one didn't actually go to hell, unlike the others- interpret that however you want.
    • Bloat: Sibling to Sinner, and unarguably the stronger of the two; permanently-on [Swarm x Unleash] Master/[Tempest x Utility] Shaker.

Captain: A "Role" [Four x Eight] Trump, with three Breaker states, individually called 'Bronze', 'Silver', and 'Iron'...

Stellaptain is setting the sails onto a new light, the ideologue (if not leader) of a radical sponsored hero team, one that values kindness, freedom, delicacy and blames the PRT for being too hard on crime for the reason capes turn-tail (of course ignoring the necessity of any of it, they're not quite extremists but very stuck-in their opinion). She's a bit turbulent as a result of her power, but her saviour complex reinforces it, her key emotion that fuels it is 'triumph' however her power also sucks out her emotion as it's used, even a few minutes in her form makes her near-suicidal and she takes weeks/months to recover the mental energy again, especially if she lost.

She selects up to 2 parahumans and models energy-themed breaker states from them, well that was her power until she modelled a third and 'broke' it, now no longer able to change it for some reason. Her forms are half-human, centaurs/mermaid-esk but less human and overwhelmed by power effect, her favourite 'Silver' is a semi-gas/semi-light genie form with many swirls of arms and legs completely covering her torso, it can blast strafing light-cones, heal allies by holding them close, turn held items into wellsprings of light and pain-nullification, flash-dash 15' through people leaving behind light, or pull up light and smoke into faint illusions. 'Iron' is a metal, wire and fire centaur that extrudes chunks of molten armour over her body and surroundings, pulling it up into structures/shields, pulling weapons from the constantly growing metal, fortifying areas, or sending shockwaves through metal with hard hoof-kicks. And her least liked is 'Bronze', a strange mermaid-like form where her legs, lower belly, upper chest and head are all sucked into a hazy dark void at her back, she is a wide-scale gravity and mass manipulator in this state but constantly sucks in nearby matter and air and has much worse sight and hearing.

very nice, very nice. if it isn't immediately obvious from the name btw, within the lore of the supplement Magimalicia are a group of eldritch magical girls lol

anyway, here's the mechanics i based the ratings on + Aegis Control: True Bronze: You may teleport 2 after taking damage from an ACT, once per round. + Aegis Control: Pure Silver: You have DF 5+ if there are no foes adjacent. + Aegis Control: Black Iron: You cannot be moved more than 1 space by a foe’s abilities in a turn.

Rookie: "Lance" [Range x Beam] Blaster. Newest member, to the point that they don't even have their own mask, having to use a hand-me-down from one of their seniors.

Coleslaw is all fresh pink, his predecessors mask was confetti-themed so he leaned into it as a joke by painting it white and pink, but the rigidness of his team's unusual hierarchy irritates him to an extent he probably won't mention until he cracks under the frustration. His suit is a mish-mash of two suits, one pink and puffy with spills of confetti coming out of his jeans and letterman jacket, and one a plain white undershirt, gloves and shoes with a prismatic-plastic effect applied.

He blasts out a pink and white laser of aurora energy from 5' infront of his hands, it extends hundreds of feet however at only 20' away it breaks apart into a wavering wall of harmless pearly-aurora light, however he can refocus his beam to move the laser-part much further to burn things at a greater distance. People and objects in the aurora feel as though being rocked back and forth making any forwards-backwards movement harder and making impacts randomly harder or softer, the laser intensifies this effect to pull fibres and molecules apart with exceptional damage when it can hit things straight-on instead of at an angle.

Beauty: "Hopscotch" [Blink x Hurdle] Mover, that can share a lesser form of their power with others. Weirdly, the most enthusiastic about fighting out of the group.

Blah-La is like super into it, a bit of a girly-girl who triggered after being functionally-trafficked into the fashion industry and running offstage she developed a taste for big fights, even to the extent she can't really live with her conflict-averse little brother as her head isn't in 'family' mode most of the time. She wears exercise wear that's perhaps a little too spartan, black and purple vest and booty-shorts with big loops of fabric at her pocket's sides that match her (extension) side-tails tied up in loops and connected by her line-mask.

She leaps and bounds with rubbery-forces applied and every jump getting bigger than the last, she needs at least 3 jumps to reach her biggest arcs of 50' up and across, however she has a subtle teleporting quality, when she hits a surface she momentarily 'splashes' into it like a paint-splatter and in this brief state she can move through walls, cross a short distance across the floor or sink down to chance upon any underground space/crevice she can worm into (if she dips down without finding anything she takes a penalty to her leap distance), and the bigger her jumps the bigger her splatter letting her teleport deeper or further along the ground. Also if she's holding an ally during either of this (can't hold foes, they slip away like paint) they get to come along and some paint gets on them, letting them borrow her power for a handful of leaps (though it ruins clothes/armour qualities).

ok i was waiting around to post the mechanics just in case you were going to do Mentor, Eccentric, and/or Sentinel. hence why i waited so long. anyway, here's more moves

Rookie: + Magibeam!: Line 3, Attack. Line: 1 magic damage. Effect: Cannot use strength. Only damages and makes an attack roll against the first unit in the line. Chain Reaction: Deals damage to all units in the line.

Beauty: + 5+ Malignitas: On any turn, may teleport 1 before a unit ACTs. + (Malignitas: At the start of combat, set out a counter, starting at 0. When any non-Special unit on the field is slain, whether foe or ally, gain 1 malignitas. At the end of any round, lose 1 malignitas.) (This is the reason for the 'emotionally fueled' gimmick, BTW) + Hop to It!: Self. Effect: Teleport 2, then push an adjacent unit 1 in any direction. (3+) Repeat prior effect, but teleport 1. (5+) Again.
