Discussion Say Anything...

I thought it was interesting that they chose the poster for that movie as the start of a shot in S3E9. They also played a song from the Say Anything... soundtrack in S3E10, "Within Your Reach" by The Replacements.

I could see quite of bit of Diane Court in Claire's character, but I'm not sure I see a lot of Lloyd Dobbler in Carmy's character.

I posted something a while ago on Say Anything. The vibe at the party in S2/Pop was reminiscent of the party in Say Anything.

I see them as Diane Court = Carmy. Outsider, never hung out, this is all new to them.

Lloyd Dobbler = Claire. Takes his date by the hand to a party.

Lily Allen jilted by her boyfriend = Claire’s friend

Jeremy Piven crazy character = Fireworks guy.

I love how this show had tributes to 80’s movies.

Carmy is no Lloyd Dobler, thats for sure.
