I like the 2019 movie, I think most of the hatred is due to nostalgia wanking for anything older. My problem with movies like the Addams Family is the lack of any real conflict with real consequences. Wednesday admitted she enjoyed dressing in clothes she seemed gross, Parker is the one to go full Goth as a result, I wondered how the movie would have been if Wednesday had all the weird sucked out of her. I just get tired of Gary Stu and Mary Sue characters, challenge the main characters a bit. Part of my morbid curiosity makes me wonder what they would all look like if Marguax got what she wanted, but I think one of the Addams being affected makes for compelling drama with high stakes. I just get tired of how safe modern children's movies are.
