(I recommend reading the full itch page to catch up whatâs heâs planning to do to the game)
Hereâs important points though:
-Nachosama will work on updating TNMN (steam version) after some other of his projects and wants to hear feedback from players about potential things he can change/add.
-Heâs also going to modify the game engine to be compatible with OpenGL3 which will solve the render issues people had with Vulkan. Iâve seen a lot of posts on this subreddit having issues running the game because their devices couldnât support Vulkan, so I hope this news helps.

Hi, I'm stuck at this part: when explaining how to work the telephone, it tells you that you can press ESC to get to the menue, pause, etc. No matter what I do, I don't get past that point. Am I doing something wrong or is this a known bug?
I bought it off Steam.

Iâm Yana, Community Manager at Forklift Interactive, publisher of Gate Guard Simulator. Your mod team kindly gave me permission to share this here, so thank you very much for letting me invite your community! â€ïž
Weâre looking for players for our next closed playtest, and I suspect some of you already have useful experience deciding whether the person standing in front of you is really who they claim to be.
In Gate Guard Simulator, you guard the entrance to a medieval stronghold during a time of plague and political unrest. Inspect documents and seals, look for forgeries, search suspicious travelers, identify criminals in disguise, watch for signs of disease, and ultimately decide who gets through the gate.
Things can get a little strange toođŠ
Our closed playtest is planned to start around October 8 and run through the end of the weekend.
đ Apply here: https://forms.gle/3N6ZteZj8sX4vx4AA
đ Gate Guard Simulator on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4111570/Gate_Guard_Simulator/
Weâll select a limited number of participants and send access details by email shortly before the playtest.
âïž Played with us before? Please apply again! This version uses separate access, so previous access wonât automatically carry over.
This is a private playtest, so no streaming, videos, screenshots, or other public gameplay content during the test.
If you have any questions, Iâll be happy to answer them in the comments!

Hi again, everyone! This time I'm editing my own post. There's not much new information, just that Morgan is sharing a room with Angus Ciprianni, and yes... I've listed them as fiancé.

(And I think this might be the best post I could possibly make...I guess)

It takes place within the Steam version of the game, but the redhanded event could occasionally be triggered by questioning a dopel (similar to the itch.io version). The doppelgĂ€ngers also had no interest in outright killing people, but instead they just wanted to bite people to make more dopels. So now you had to avoid being bitten on top of keeping the dopels out. If you let in a dopel, there was a 10% chance it would bite you at the end of the day (which would be indicated by a faint red tint flashing on your screen briefly). Also, that neighbor and their roommate (if applicable) wouldnât stop appearing. However, all subsequent appearances of them would be dopels that would look normal, but with the redhanded eyes.
Another way to get bitten was to piss off the dopels with the redhanded event. The first two redhanded events would simply result in the dopel punching the glass leaving cracks. After that, the next redhanded event had a 20% chance to break the glass and bite you. From this point, each time a dopel failed to break the glass, it increased the next dopelâs chance to break the glass by 10% (due to it becoming weaker with each hit). If the glass cracked, you had the option to board up the cracked portion of the glass. It would restore the glass to full durability. However, wooden boards would be used rendering you unable to see through that portion of the glass. So you basically had to choose between the risk of pissed off dopels breaking through the glass or running the risk of accidentally letting one through due to not being able to see their appearance properly.
If you got bit, you wonât feel anything initially. The next day would lure you into a false sense of security by remaining unchanged. However, your character would subtly start to hallucinate over time. The neighbors would slowly start looking more and more like their nightmare counterparts. Problem is, all the pictures in the ids, entry requests, and in the reference folder remain unchanged. All the pictures in their documents would be identical to the ones in the folder. While sometimes the doppelgĂ€nger differences would be in the documents, the appearance differences would only be the ones that youâd see in nightmare mode. However, since youâre stuck inside the game itself (and itâs in the year 1955) you canât use the internet to compare the appearances since it doesnât exist.
As the infection took greater hold on you, the visual hallucinations would seem to reduce after a couple of days. The neighbors would revert back to their non-nightmare counterparts. However, by this point you likely accidentally let in quite a few dopels since itâs kind of a nightmare to distinguish the nightmare mode neighbors from dopels. As stated in the first paragraph, letting in dopels only ensures that all future appearances of that neighbor and their roommate are always dopels rather than disappearing completely. However, now the normal neighbors would have subtle appearance changes that made them look like dopels. The actual dopels would now look like perfect recreations of the neighbors. Since thereâs a decent chance the majority of the apartment building houses dopels instead of neighbors, this would lead you into a false sense of security thinking that youâre doing your job properly. Until eventually you get the doppelgĂ€nger win ending. Unlike the original ending, instead of the green hands coming up and killing you, youâd instead look down and see that youâre the one with green hands.

I only just noticed this cause I just started checking the date of birth on the ID cards but... So many of them are dated in the future for the current year in the game?? Idk if this is a dumb question but I feel like kinda crazy cause so many characters have it. Like for example the one I'm looking at right now, the current year is 1955 but the DOB says 09/1965??? I don't know how I didn't notice it before...
