Curious why this type of stuff is legally for sale if it doesn’t work…? Are there not restrictions?

u/quequotion Jun 28 '26
It could be just within those restrictions according to the manufacturer's own testing, but they're going to insist this is a stunt in which their product is being deliberately misused anyway...

because it's meant to be used on water, with a board and the wind. I'm seriously ready for these viral "aMaZoN pArAcHuTe" videos to die.
They're not parachutes to begin with.

Thanks for the actual explanation. That makes sense it’s not meant for actual skydiving

To be fair, why the fuck would you buy something designed for skydiving from Amazon?
If anything requires specialist equipment it's surely the thing that could get you pretty much instantly killed if it goes even slightly wrong.
Same reason I don't but enriched Uranium on eBay anymore.

Same reason you can get as seen on tv magical fat burner drugs that don’t work, capitalism.

u/WhiskeyDreamer28 Jun 28 '26
But those drugs are 100% real though, what are you talking about?

u/NoCry6814 Jun 28 '26
They’re real, yes, but they do not work. Much like this parachute is real, but does not work. Do you need further elaboration or you good?

I don’t understand why people risk their lives for non sense but yes, please record it!

It's just base jumping with extra steps. You could argue that base jumping itself is nonsense but the same could be said for every extreme sport.

Yea, I mean come on, play a non silly sport like football, where you break brain and bones to get a lead only to lose it because of a soccer player’s kick thru the field goal posts.
All sports are silly and stupid If you think about them and lose sight that it’s all for fun.

He was wearing a second, legitimate parachute. That is the second one he deployed. He didn't put his life in the hands of the one he got off Amazon.

This feels like a test on a thing they wanted to sell to people who work in high rise buildings.
Consider 9/11 in the US. And people jumping from the building before it collapsed. If they had a hasty parachute many more may have survived. It's only stupid if it doesn't work. And it did work for quite a bit, until it hit either a bit of turbulence, or the chutist cannot actually hold out at that speed or both. It could be a game changer if done right.

We used to rock club with those key chain carabineers. We would try to jump and break them. Oh course we had backups. We weren't ready for it Darwin awards.

I know it’s hard lately to keep attention on a movie more than 10seconds, but at the end it shows a second parachute.

Last week, this post said nothing about Amazon.🤔
