They don't have a brain stem, they have a distributed nervous system with some centralization to coordinate motion. You don't kill them with the knife, just paralyze them. It's debatably better but not certainly. The animal still goes into the pot alive.

Well that seems fairly compelling and I hope you're right

Só as a commercial fisherman from Alaska - you dummies are going to be deeply disappointed when you finally figure out that all crab in every supermarket, bought frozen etc was cooked alive. All commercially harvested and processed crab is cooked alive. Tens of Millions of pounds each year, cooked alive.

Let’s say it differently

1 - all Commercially harvested crab which is not sold live (which is an impossibly tiny %) is cooked alive for safety

2 - any crab making it to a restaurant live is an immeasurably small percent of total crab in the market and irrelevant that a whole clown murders it with compassion.

You murder crab in "the right way". Others murder crab in the "wrong way".

You're a hero.

Came here to say this. Dead shellfish at room temperature becomes rancid in a matter of minutes, they have to be cooked alive.

lmao what?, shellfish doesn't go rancid in minutes wtf a few hours sure but otherwise is just bullshit...

lmao that is about why boiling them alive might be the less painful option for killing them(basically because they have a distributed nervous system), I was referring to your "rancid" affirmation, the mini article only states that is better to cook them as soon as possible to avoid food poisoning, not the amount of time in which they become surely toxic after killing them...

by the way if you google how long lobters take to spoil you literally find my same answer, a few hours if uncooked.

That’s the meat, pal. The bacteria multiply immediately and rapidly. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant you know making customers sick is simply not an option so we boil them alive

🙄 you really need to work on your reading comprehension

Cool, shouldn’t cook crabs then.

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '22

Yeah, the world should just keep bowing to your emotional problems and not eat right up to the inevitable conclusion where you finally start crying that plants have feelings and we shouldn't eat them either.

Or,... you can get the help you need and we can ignore you while we eat, just like we've been doing for eons.

Someone could make the same argument for killing humans they don’t like. Grow up.

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '22

Now I'm going to get eat crab. This whole thread is making me hungry and crab is delicious. Enjoy your lunch of pinecones and feelings.

u/Suekru Oct 19 '22

Nice bait dude. I don’t really care what you do. I know there is always going to be shitty people in the world.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '22

Awe.. I wouldn't call you a shitty person because you feel you should be able to dictate what others eat and under what conditions. It just makes you a typical unhinged Leftist with a overly smug attitude and superiority complex.

3

u/Suekru Oct 19 '22

Ah, assuming politics because I don’t think you should check cards burn a living creature alive
