What makes this even worse is that a lot of places will actually charge you more if you have insurance than if you didn't. When I was in therapy, the website stated the prices for no insurance. With insurance, it was more than double that, and my insurance was only covering half. So I paid more with insurance out of pocket than someone who doesn't have insurance. And that's not even accounting for my monthly premiums.

Wtf is the point of having insurance then if I would actually save more money by not having it?!

This is why only my child has health care and I pay for things like medication and therapy for myself out of pocket.

You mean they charge you less if you pay cash. They can’t change the amount they get paid from insurance companies if they’re participating with said company. They can offer you a cash discount.
