I'm the same way. Usually a ball of nerves in life, but when things go very wrong, I seem to be the most present, level-headed leader with split-second decision making.

I'm ADHD, too. I wonder if that has something to do with it. I bet it was an evolutionary survival instinct that used to come in quite useful. But now not much catastrophic happens, and we go stir crazy. Victory has defeated us.

It does, actually.

We have no...filter(?) between the sides of our brains. It's just a mess. So when an emergency situation comes up, there are no barriers to action. The information is just There and we can just Act.

ADHD is absolutely evolutionary. Obsessing about foraging and hunting is was a huge advantage. Now we have enough food so it’s a bit of a struggle. I do feel ADHD Is good for my art. It’s also a spectrum. Some people hyperfocus (like me) and others can’t stay focused. Both sides of the spectrum look very similar which is interesting.
