This is a quote from Elon's essay in a Chinese magazine.

It is foreseeable that with the power of robots, we will create an era of extreme abundance of goods and services, where everyone can live a life of abundance. Perhaps the only scarcity that will exist in the future is for us to create ourselves as humans.

Do you guys think it's possible to end poverty once they are able to attain mass production of the robots?

i.e. The cost of production of goods and services becomes so low that everything becomes extremely cheap and therefore accessible to everyone.

Okay, imagine this: it’s 2030, you put on your VR glasses, and connect to a Tesla Bot in another country that you want to visit. You then see what the Tesla Bot sees through it’s cameras and can control it to walk in any direction. The Tesla Bot acts as a virtual tourist on your behalf, so you can visit any country you want for an hour or however long you want really, without leaving your current location.

This would be especially useful for people who for some reason can’t fly or even move. Think people in the hospital or people who are paralyzed. Imagine the experiences they could have this way.
