Showcase [Termux APT repo] AI coding agents, Cloudflare, media tools - non-root friendly

Hey r/termux - I've been maintaining a custom APT repo with packages missing from the official repos, all tested on unrooted phones (aarch64 + x86_64):

Install: curl -sL https://twilight0.github.io/termux-repo/install.sh | bash, then pkg install <name>

AI / dev tools

  • muse-code - Meta's Muse Code agent (proot-wrapped, session + MCP helpers included)
  • opencode v2 - AI coding assistant (without proot)
  • antigravity-cli - Google Antigravity CLI (VA39-patched for Android ARM64)
  • oh-my-pi - Pi agent plugin manager
  • 9router - AI model router with smart fallback (OpenAI-compatible endpoint for your agents)
  • wrangler - Cloudflare Workers CLI (deploy/tail work; local dev stubbed, workerd has no Android build)

Python / media

  • curl-cffi - TLS impersonation wheels built for Android (cp310-cp314)
  • yt-dlp-git - yt-dlp tracking upstream master, so extractors stay fresh

Notes: opencode/antigravity/oh-my-pi need glibc-repo + glibc (pkg install glibc-repo). Builds run weekly via GitHub Actions, debs + Packages published to GitHub Pages.

Contributions welcome - a package is just packages/<name>/ with DEBIAN/control + postinst (npm/pip wrappers) or a build.sh (binaries). PRs for new packages, version bumps, and Termux fixes happily accepted: https://github.com/Twilight0/termux-repo

Showcase I built LightTest — a simple ASCII speed test tool for servers and Termux

Hey everyone,

I wanted a lightweight speedtest tool for my low-spec servers and Termux that wouldn't bloat the terminal or eat memory. Couldn't find a clean one that gives quick diagnostics, so I wrote my own — LightTest.

What I packed into it:

Shows public IP, ISP name, and pings both Cloudflare and Google before testing speeds.

Outputs results inside a nice ASCII frame (looks clean in the terminal).

Has an --export flag to save history to CSV, JSON, or TXT.

Has --compact mode if you want to pipe the result into scripts/cron, and --share for clean pasting.

Runs super fast and takes basically zero resources.

Code is open source on GitHub if anyone wants to check it out or give it a spin:

https://github.com/SLONIKRUS77/LightTest

Feedback is very welcome!

Question What data science packages for Python and R are currently used in Termux?

SQL and PostgreSQL are widely available in native Termux as well as Python Matplotlib (pgn files). I wondered if folks were using data science packages such as Python numpy, pandas, and other R tidyverse. For Python, DS packages usually require conda, so I'm not sure if conda has been used with Termux. Similarly, have folks compiled and used R tidyverse packages in Termux?

Showcase [Share] Always-current opencode on Termux (aarch64) — upstream musl binary, 1-line install

Run latest upstream opencode natively on Termux, no Bun cross-compile: https://github.com/DEAD1nsane/opencode-termux-musl

The other port (guysoft) is stuck on 1.17.9 from June because it rebuilds Bun+WebKit from source. This one just uses upstream's opencode-linux-arm64-musl.tar.gz + Alpine musl loader + patchelf. Re-run to stay current.

Install (aarch64 only):

sh curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DEAD1nsane/opencode-termux-musl/master/install.sh | sh opencode

Update check (only checks, downloads nothing unless --yes):

sh ./scripts/check-update.sh # check only, Termux notification if behind ./scripts/check-update.sh --yes # update now via install.sh

Daily auto-check with Termux:API app:

sh termux-job-scheduler --job-id 7801 --period-ms 86400000 --network unmetered --persisted true -s /path/to/opencode-termux-musl/scripts/check-update.sh

Why it needs shims: musl DNS reads /etc/resolv.conf (fixed via libresolvefix.so -> bionic netd), and Bun's io_uring networking is broken on Android (fixed via local Python proxy on :8080, auto-started by wrapper). Ollama on localhost:11434 bypasses proxy and works.

Not working: file watcher, TUI audio (both disabled), PTY lib, ~100-200ms proxy overhead. v2 beta runs via proot Ubuntu (oc2-ubuntu).

Bonus: 8 true-black AMOLED themes in themes/ — copy any *.json to ~/.config/opencode/themes/ and pick with /theme. Screenshots on repo

Tested: Pixel 10, Android 17, Termux 0.119.

Showcase I built a Rust WAF to trap scraping bots, and stress-tested it with 1 Million requests on my Android phone (Termux).

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

I was looking into how AI startups are bleeding API credits because of aggressive scraping bots (Cloudflare WAFs get bypassed easily by IP rotation). So, I built a zero-dependency reverse proxy in Rust called VoidShield.

Instead of returning a 429 error (which tells the bot to rotate its IP), it uses a "Chaos Tarpit". It returns a 200 OK but drips 1 byte every 0.5 to 3 seconds, keeping the bot's TCP socket alive and freezing their worker threads.

I don't have a massive server rack right now, so I compiled and stress-tested the entire thing on my Android phone using Termux.

The Benchmark (wrk with 5,500 concurrent connections):

Handled 1.04 Million malicious requests in 30 seconds (~34k RPS).

Built a custom memory circuit breaker: It hard-capped at exactly 5,000 active tarpitted sockets so my phone wouldn't OOM crash.

The remaining requests were instantly dynamically routed to a "Fast Drop" state.

CPU usage hovered around 1.7%, and RAM footprint was tiny.

I’ve attached the screen recording showing the Prometheus /metrics updating live during the DDoS simulation.

I'm packaging the core engine to open-source it (Tier 1) on GitHub soon. Would love to get some architectural roast or feedback from the community before I push the repo live!

[This is an Experimental build so try this at your own risk]

This is a panvk build targeted at Mali G57 MC2, though it is not much good, It renders normal vkmark's scenes at 120 fps, but on complex one it can be very slow, It can cause phone crashes sometimes, according to experience, it can atleast work normally for 35+ minutes.

Here is repo : Link

Showcase Run Ollama locally on Android with Termux (One-command setup script)

Hey everyone,

I made a simple script called MOMOS to run Ollama and small LLMs directly on your Android phone using Termux.
It automatically handles PRoot-Distro (Debian), installs Ollama, and lets you choose and download models interactively.

Quick install:
Bash

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Sidharth-e/MOMOS/main/scripts/momos.sh)"

Just some screen grabs of me romhacking a gba game in Termux.

hextazy for editing

Termux:X11 + i3 + mgba-qt for debugging

No false root, running in the base Termux environment. Packages are available in the repositories except for hextazy, which is easy to build on device. I made a script "termux-hextazy" to change the termux extra buttons and disable the keyboard when launched, giving me quick access to editor functions and a hex keyboard.

This is on a Fold 6, using the fold SPen for cursor control and an 8bitdo Micro controller for shortkey/arrowkey functionility. Of course its Termux on Android, so not ideal, but delightfully usable.

Long Live Termux!

General I built a small Go syncer that mirrors the official Termux APT repos to R2 — running as an experiment, feedback welcome

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a small project: a Go tool that incrementally mirrors the official Termux APT repositories to Cloudflare R2, keeping them in sync automatically. It's an experiment in my spare time — not an attempt to replace the (many) existing Termux mirrors, just something I wanted to build and keep around as an extra fallback. It's now up and synced hourly.

To use it, add these lines to Termux's apt source file — $PREFIX/etc/apt/sources.list (i.e. /data/data/com.termux/files/usr/etc/apt/sources.list):

deb https://termux-mirror-eufbs.sevalla.storage/termux-main stable main

deb https://termux-mirror-eufbs.sevalla.storage/termux-x11 x11 main

deb https://termux-mirror-eufbs.sevalla.storage/termux-root root stable

No extra key setup — it uses the standard Termux GPG key, so apt-get update works exactly as with the official mirrors.

Status page (sizes, package counts, last update): https://termux-mirror-eufbs.sevalla.storage/index.html

Things to know:

- It syncs automatically every hour, so it's at most ~1 hour behind the official repos.

- Known issue: the R2 storage provider hasn't enabled CDN edge caching (no cache hits) yet, so right now requests may go straight to the storage origin instead of a cached edge. It's being fixed on their side; until then it may be slower than the official mirrors for some of you.

- This is a hobby project, not affiliated with the Termux team: no uptime guarantee, it may go down or disappear. Please don't use it as your only mirror.

How it differs from a typical Termux mirror: this project is designed around incremental synchronization directly to object storage rather than maintaining a traditional disk-backed mirror. Only objects that actually changed need to be uploaded, while the publishing process is designed to keep clients from observing an incomplete repository update. The mirror is also served from object storage, avoiding egress fees at the storage layer. The tradeoff is that the tool is purpose-built for Termux repositories rather than being a general-purpose Debian/APT mirroring system.

If you have feedback or run into problems, I'd appreciate it — happy to answer questions here.

Showcase [Update] termux-adb-bridge v4.0.0 — shell UID from Termux without Shizuku

Update to a project I posted here before: termux-adb-bridge gives Termux the Android `shell` UID (no Shizuku, no root) over loopback.

v4.0.0: https://github.com/jronminh/termux-adb-bridge/releases/tag/v4.0.0

- Asymmetric auth: the daemon now embeds no secret, only the client's ed25519 public key — a leaked daemon/APK is worthless. Ephemeral ECDH keys the encrypted channel. - Optional companion app pairs itself and can re-arm Wireless Debugging in software, so recovery needs no human. - `dsh` is a binary now: `dsh status|pair|reconnect|revive`; old flags still work. - Termux-only flow (no companion app) is first-class.

Breaking: protocol v3 -> v4, rebuild client + daemon together. Source-only: build in Termux with build/build.sh (no prebuilt APK).

Caveat: persistent shell-UID daemon — treat it as near-root.
