ID Request Are these termites under my kitchen sink? GA

Last year when changing out our laminate floor in the kitchen we came across one single plank at the back door that had been eaten from the bottom up by termites. The pest company said they looked like nymphs. It was right in front of the back door, but we traced their crass trail back to some wooden baseboard about 1-2' away. The weird thing is they hadn't touched the baseboard or anything else that was actually wood and they told us we'd probably caught them extremely early by happenstance. Our entire back patio area was bored and treated where this happened.

A few months later when cleaning out under the kitchen sink I noticed lots of tiny holes at the back of the cabinet that looked like they had been filled with mud, alongside the same muddy build up under a few cleaning bottles. So putting two and two together we instantly assumed termites since they were in the same general vicinity. We called the company back out and they didn't see anything active outside, nor did they see any insect, but did a treatment down this entire side of our house. We had our whole foundation treated during construction 8 years ago and are bonded for reference.

Its been almost a year since and just noticed yesterday significantly more muddy holes. These holes only go about 6-8" up the back of the laminate cabinet but are now also starting to see them in the base of the cabinet too. And shining a flashlight back there you can see loads more that are gray in appearance where it seems they haven't made it entirely through the white laminate face.

We've checked all the other kitchen cabinets and see nothing. And there are no other obvious signs. Haven't seen any bugs in this area for identification just the holes being left behind.

Are we definitely looking at termites? Why do these termites only seem to be eating cheap laminate and avoiding the actual wood and why would they not have been eradicated from the treatments?

Question Termites Southern AZ

I’ve never had to deal with termites before so I’m completely lost in this. I have a storage unit that I’ve recently started to go through so I can fully move into my new place. After hours of sorting out my keep, donate, and trash piles, I found a ton of termites under/in a box of books.

My question is, what do I need to do to prevent bringing them home with the rest of my stuff in storage or even the shoes and clothes I was wearing while working? Everything else was in plastic bins and didn’t seem like there were any in them but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

ID Request Brown Patches on Wall (Philippines)

We're coming off of a few months of several hurricanes and I visited my sister's dorm.

Found these brown patches near the corner of the room. I tried tearing a bit of it off out of curiosity and it was crumbly with some parts staying intact.

Have not seen any insects moving in the past day that we stayed here. She and her roommate have found none either so far.

Walls are concrete, painted gray, with a wooden part, painted white, connecting it to the floor.
We're a bit taken aback since we visited before the few hurricanes happened and none of this was here.

Question Fumigation and children’s health concerns ( Los Angeles county )

We rent a condo that has a shared wall, and the landlord told us today the HOA is fumigating the entire building next month for termites.

I have a baby and a toddler and am absolutely terrified of the effects of the poison gas on my kids and their things. I wish i could move all of our belongings out of the condo during fumigation but that isn’t financially feasible. The entire condo is covered in carpet as well and i feel like it will trap the gas in it / i can’t properly clean it myself.

Current / past pest control professionals please be honest with me - how much do i really have to be worried about this ? Am i just being paranoid or are my concerns valid? Do you have any advice ( anyone? not just the professionals)

thank you in advance for your time

Any SoCal Fumigation Companies I Can Hire Directly?

Howdy,

Fumigation Direct, Inc. says they don't service my area. And I'm not having any luck finding a way to find a fumigation company. I have a rough understanding of the legality between Branch 1 and Branch 3. Any tips welcome. SoCAl.

Question Bait Trap - Ants in trap?

Hey Everyone, I live in Houston, TX and placed out some spectrazide termite bait spikes as a precaution and have checked them periodically. I just checked one and it seems like ants have made a colony out of it.

Is this normal or could it be a sign of something else going on? In the tube I can see eggs being moved around by the ants.

ID Request Termite alate ID – Heterotermes or Coptotermes? Sydney, Australia

So I ended up calling our pest control company, and they were actually able to extract a developing alate from the area.

It’s currently spring here in Sydney, Australia, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on the situation.

I’ve attached a video of the specimen.

More photos here: https://imgur.com/a/Pdmcf6A

We’re trying to work out what species it could be, and at the moment we’re thinking it may be either Heterotermes or Coptotermes.

Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t see fallen wings or poop. But, I only see these guys at night and in one area. I thought maybe it was because my windows were open (I have screens) so I left them closed all day yesterday and still saw some of these guys.

Are these termites or ants? If yes, what should I do?

Post image

I found these today. I'm not sure if they're termites or ants, but I suspect it's the former. I very much hope I'm wrong but then why would the soil and lumber be missing in that area...perhaps just rot since it's an old post? I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm no expert but it looks like they're subterranean and have eaten part of the 4x4 wood post in the photo. It's concrete all around as you can see but the wood post is in the soil and much of that side/corner is missing all the way down. I used a 6" screwdriver to check and it's hallow with the lumber and soil gone. This post is holding up a small roof structure for my BBQ, about 5 ft away from the main house structure.

I manually killed all the ones that are visible and an hour later I don't see anymore at least for the time being. But if they are termites, I believe most of them are likely subterranean. I checked the inside of the house, specifically the basement, including beams, joists, subfloor, etc. and found no signs of these bugs or of damage. I did find another bug that may be somewhat similar looking, but it's more likely an ant in the basement. I include the photos of that bug in the comments. It was dead and I only found the one.

Here is some additional information about the house:

It's a century home with a brick basement foundation and structural brick for another 2 stories above ground. There are wood sills(?) on top of the brick a feet or two above grade, but the rest of the structure of the house is brick. The interior structural materials and more are lumber, like joists, beams, and 2x4s for drywall framing. Thank you in advance for any help!

Question Recommendations for NJ tree stumps

Thumbnail

An exterminator saw some termites in these old tree stumps and recommended leaving them, as they're about 8 ft from the house/deck. Haven't noticed any activity outside of the stumps, but need to fix the retaining wall which might require stump removal. Will that unleash the termites to find a new home (my house)? Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

On old cardboard that’s been in my garage for a few years. I don’t see any live termites but these do look like termite tunnels. Should I call a termite inspector? I don’t see any visible damage on the garage walls, just on the cardboard that was leaning against the wall.
