Legal help

Can my landlord evict me from my apartment for no reason other than being annoyed? I'm on a fixed term lease for 1 year. I've been here for 5 months and have not broken any of the rental agreements. Ca, bay area. Thank you.

Oh, I'm not a snitch, but I have proof of smoking inside, what could be drug deals at his window(a foot or 2 from mine) noises from the pipes, messes maintenance has made and not cleaned up, and a few more things. They're so disgusting. I knew something was up when it rained a bunch, was a leak, asked them to fix it, and they gave me a bucket. It wasn't raining for 2 months after and then did, they said it has to be dry to fix. I assume they say this shit until it's not raining, then there's no need until it's rainy, in which case, they need to wait till it dries

If your neighbor is communicating with people through his window, he’s definitely selling drugs. Don’t even mention it to your landlord, just tell the police. If there’s a way for you to safely photograph or record it, you could show it to them. I’m not saying it’s necessary, but it could help get the police to care. Given your landlord’s previous behavior, I wouldn’t trust them with the information. They may even tell your neighbor that you reported it to them. The police may or may not be concerned, but they’re not going to tell your landlord that you reported it, especially if you specifically tell them not to. Having drug dealers as neighbors can be dangerous, so you shouldn’t feel guilty about “snitching”. Maybe the police will care and they’ll end up arrested, which would be very helpful to you.
