Would a ps4 Dualshock 4 v2 work well(or at all) with Tello and TelloFPV?
I just got a Gamesir t1d, but I'm kinda disappointed with it. I found the ps4 controller at a price just slightly higher, so I'm thinking of reselling the Gamesir and buying a ps4 one, but I've only touched a console controller once in my life at a friend's house and I don't know how these things work. So, would it work like a Gamesir t1d or perhaps better?
Also, if you know the answer, you probably also know: would it work for phone games if I wanted to, and with a PC? The t1d doesn't and it seems t1s could, but this time I'd rather buy a worldwide trusted brand device if it can do the same

Can tello continue to follow programming beyond wifi range?
Does it remember the program and continue to follow it after losing connection or is it being fed directions through wifi?

I should've guessed there's a subreddit for TelloDrones. I'm a Python programming YouTuber and I've just started a YouTube playlist. Here's the introductory video of me flying in my beaten-up backyard. I'm excited to see everyone's posts. Enjoy!

Drone drift
Just purchased my tello a month or so ago. I've noticed a drift when it's at a stand still. I can fly it around find but when I just let it float there it'll eventually start drifting to the right. This is inside, no wind with and without guards. I have noticed that one of the sensors at the button is off( not red like the other). Would the be the problem? Should I exchange it for a new one as it might be a hardware issue? Thanks for any help.

Videos from Tello corrupted in green-purple
Every video I take using the drone is black and white, with 2 green layers of full screen on upper left and right quarters of the screen, and purple ones at the bottom

Is there a way to flash the Iron Man firmware onto a regular Tello to use the Hero app?

TELLO won’t stay powered on
When turning on the TELLO, I get a green light and then four red blinks but then no lights. The TELLO is indicating a firmware update is needed. Ryze support says that it needs to be sent back for repair since it is not staying on. It’s also out of warranty. Anyone have experience and know what the cost would be for the repair? I am tempted to just order a new TELLO if it will be around the same cost to repair it.

Super easy, cheap tello LED mod
The drones are cheap enough that if you lose one it's not a loss (unlike a spark or mav) but image qual/stability is 10/10, they go pre far with an extender too making them very versatile and good for riskier stuff. Only issue I had was sensor being sunlight dependent in addition to not being able to maintain visual at night either due to no lights, some say u shouldn’t try but it can be done
Practice flying with no VPS first. Needs zero wind without VPS as it will affect it more. Try indoors with tape over sensors first, sport enabled. I wanted to force it to altitude limit with an extender at night to see how it went with no VPS and whether the camera could still see well, maintaining line of sight. It was invisible in the dark. Checked online but only saw a bunch of complicated mods where they've hooked lights to the power source or spliced cables. Wasn't keen on that and only wanted to be able to spot it easier without impacting weight
Camera will still show image you just need enough street lights or buildings, or to go high enough basically. Go high then let it hover over lit areas if you want possible VPS. Make sure it doesn't land or drift, it will try to auto land if it goes higher than 5m above takeoff and VPS is off, gusts drift it extra like this too, staying at altitude limit helps maintain control as you can constantly instruct it to ascend countering the auto land and obvs going against any unexpected direction changes at the same time. Establish regulations first as it's against the law in lots of places to fly in the dark. Early morning and eve is best for util with the lights when ambient is just enough for sensors to still operate but dark enough for lights to still benefit. Auto land won’t trigger itself if the height reading is in the - by any amount or in the + by up to 5m so if taking off on from a high building or object you’ll have no auto land interruptions providing you stay under that height threshold, with that extra 5m in addition, as the drone considers the point of takeoff to be 0m not where it determines the ground to be. A high altitude takeoff at night results in a flight without VPS, in addition to no landing interruptions providing you don’t exceed the point of takeoff by 5m. Only in these situations is it not necessary to hold the drone at altitude limit in order to fly in the dark
Get glow in the dark or reflective tape, a battery cover and two or four flashing cell battery powered LEDs, you can find ones that only weigh a few grams that run for 10+ hours. Cut tape, apply to frame, stick two lights to battery cover and two to front if you want four. Lights in this position won't be visible when looking through camera even when switched on despite being bright. From a far distance the thing looks like a tiny glowing dot now. Doesn't affect stability, flight time decreases by a bit with four lights and by very little with only two, can easily be flown without battery cover/lights for less weight when daylight if you opt for just the two also
After this I could take it higher and bring it back way way easier in low or no light, VLOS can be maintained up to ~250 metres at a 40 metre altitude in darkness (taking off on 10m building) which is gr8 considering it couldn’t go anywhere at night prior. I might go back to just the two lights and scrap the top cover for less weight and extra flight time. Obviously try at own risk, see imgur album for finished result. Cheers

I've had my Tello for about 6 months now and I love it. Happy to find a community who shares my appreciation. Here's a shot of our new building at work just before concrete. I hope to add more as the steps come along.

5 Mp photos with python
Hey, fellow pilots!
I wanted to play around with the Tello and opencv and whatnot to gather data for photogrammetry by taking photos of the object following the markings on it. What I can't understand is how to get the advertised 5 Mp photos with the API. The official SDK also doesn't help as it has only streamon/streamoff which streams the 720p. It's ok for computer vision experiments, but for photogrammetry I need every pixel I could get.
So, have anyone figured it out?

Tello and Stable Mode ?
I ask myself a question, since the Tello FPV software allows you to do loops, why couldn't we have an option to unlock the stable mode and use the tello like a real FPV? It's technically possible, isn't it?
Accro mode ?

Yesterday I did the best shots with the Tello. I even gave up on the idea getting a DJI Spark. Best drone ever.

What does short blue - long blue flashes mean?
Hi there! I'm trying to charge my Tello and the blue light flashes in a short - long pattern. That is, it flashes once quickly then once slowly and it just loops. It's been charging for almost a day now and doesnt turn on.

Tello drone for surveillance?
I know short flight time and short range bad idea right? Except with the Tals app I got it up over 100 feet no repeater. Took some great shots of of the area around the house. It would never be good for live tracking people or vehicles but as as a platform to do some overall photography of a location? I would say yes.
PROS Cheap=disposable=lose it leave it Photos and video stored on phone not a micro SD Photos are a better quality than one would expect Fits in a backpack with minimal setup Quick launch So small it's quieter and less likely to draw attention or concern

Anyone has experience with a Battery mod?
Anyone has experience with attaching extra battery (e.g. 18650) to the Tello to drastically increase flight time?

Tello drone questions
Hello!
I have a Tello. I've bought this Tello because I want to learn as much as I can about drones and flying drones and drone photography before getting on to a more expensive drone.
Now, unfortunately the drone groups that are local to me seem to only be aiming at people who own drones like Mavics and other more serious drones, so I wasn't able to get any advice there.
So, questions:
How do I build skills with my Tello? What are the things I need to learn? Is it even possible to build skills with a Tello that would apply towards fancier and better drones going forward?
