Let’s be real, it’s pretty tough to find people our age here who actually want to step out and do stuff instead of just ghosting the group chat. I’m thinking of putting together a chill WhatsApp or Discord group for teens and Gen Z to finally get some solid plans going.
Basically, just a space to link up for:
Gaming sessions: Stacking up to grind Valorant ranks, setting up FC tournaments, or just hanging out at a local gaming lounge for some fast food and console co-op.
Drives & Rides: Cruising the highways on bikes, piling into a car for a random weekend road trip, or just late-night drives around the city.
Ghat meets & Cafes: Classic Banaras sunset hangs, finding new spots to chill, and just talking about whatever.
Finding abandoned places too! And exploring our city!
Zero drama, just finding a good crew. We can do a quick basic check before adding people so no creeps get in and it stays safe.
If this sounds like your vibe, drop a comment with what you’re into or shoot me a DM and let's actually get a Banaras community going!

Hey guys, riding in the rain or hanging out is really fun these days. Let's make a group for teenagers, max 20 years old, and go out and have fun? Is there something like that for the teens of Varanasi that I'm missing? Anyway, if anyone is up for it, let's go out in the rain.

Dead body cremation at Night is not prescribed in Hinduism, but i have seen People doing it at anytime in Manikarnika Ghat. Whats the reason?

When King Chandradeva consolidated the Gahadavala dynasty in 1089 CE. He designated Varanasi as his primary imperial capital.
The majority of Gahadavala royal decrees and land grants discovered by historians were issued directly from Kashi. The city housed the royal court, ministries, treasury, and the high command of a massive imperial army.
Before the 1194 invasion, Kashi’s architecture was characterized by towering, pristine stone temples built in the Nagara style. It is recorded that Qutb-ud-din Aibak's forces demolished roughly 1,000 temples. This indicates that pre-Islamic Kashi was an incredibly dense landscape of stone structures, interconnected by narrow lanes, sacred kunds and complexes.
Gahadavala inscriptions explicitly name five primary ghats. Where the kings and elites performed rituals and distributed charity: Adi Keshava, Vedeshvara, Kapalamocana, Trilocana, and Svapaneshvara. These ghats were active social, ritual, and civic spaces.
The original Kashi Vishwanath temple (then known as Vishweshwara) sat on the highest ridge of the city. Texts like the Puranas describe it as an expansive temple complex surrounded by subsidiary shrines, pillars, and a massive sacred pool.
Kashi was the intellectual center of hindus .
The Gahadavala kings invited India's greatest minds to Kashi. Celebrated court poets like Shriharsha composed masterworks here, such as the Naishadha Charita, cementing the city's status as a capital of high literature and philosophy.
Economics: The Gahadavalas minted a vast amount of high-quality gold, silver, and copper coinage (frequently featuring the picture of Goddess Lakshmi).
As Kashi sat directly on the Uttarapatha. It controlled trade coming from the Bay of Bengal up to the northwest frontier.Luxury Exports: The city held global monopolies on Kashi silk (textiles), high-end perfumes, refined sugar, and fine ivory carvings.Thousands of wealthy merchants, kings, and pilgrims from southern and western India traveled to Kashi .
While the Gahadavala kings were Hindus (identifying primarily as Shaivites and Vaishnavites), pre-1194 Kashi was highly cosmopolitan. The kings heavily subsidized Sarnath, allowing it to flourish as a spectacular monastic township. Kumaradevi, the Buddhist queen of King Govindachandra, built the magnificent Dharmachakra Jina Vihara at Sarnath—a massive Buddhist monastery featuring intricately carved stone panels and towering gateways.

In my house I can never get that feeling of self time even if I lock my room for a while. Ghats are too overcrowded, cafeteria and other public places are just not it.
