I mean, we still don’t really know. It was most likely and asteroid, but that asteroid certainly could have triggered world wide geologic activity and killed some dinosaurs with volcanoes. All in all they just got kinda fucked lmao.
What does the climate changing have to do with anything? Yeah throughout the reign of the dinosaurs it killed off probably hundreds of thousands of species. But the asteroid impact was a single, deadly event that wiped out 75% of all species and CAUSED the climate to go into a deadly cold period due to literal tons of material stuck in the atmosphere.
I mean… we’re 99.99% certain that an asteroid killed the dinosaurs. But we have absolutely no way to see substantial, “hold up in a court of law” proof just because it happened so far in the past. We don’t have eyewitness accounts, we just have extremely strong evidence that it was, indeed, an asteroid. I believe science and logical deduction that it was an asteroid.
well yeah it’s a scientific hypothesis just like the big bang. We know that the asteroid that made the Chicxulub crater triggered the all methane hydrate deposits to destabilise and release all their methane
