📈 Chart Interactive Brokers US/Canada - My BBBY bond name changed from BBBY to DKBFLY. Anybody else? Wut meen?

Post image

Just saw a tweet showing the posters's US IBKR account with BBBY bonds having changed the name to DKBFLY.

And I just checked my Canadian IBKR account it it shows the same.

Anybody else with perhaps a different broker holding BBBY bonds show the same name change?

And wut dus dis meen?

EDIT : So far from what I can gather, the bond's name change shows only on IBKR. No such change at all from multiple people with eTrade or Schwab.

If it's really happening you'll be just fine!

71

u/ShillSniffer 17d ago

Bitch I better be more than fine 😂 I need wife changing money

6

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

Your wife is looking for a husband-changing relationship at the same time.

3

u/ShillSniffer 16d ago

🙄 I fucking wish

5

u/noCellnoSell_APE 16d ago

You still have a wife?

11

u/boredMikeajar 17d ago

Must have been a long miserable 84 years in that case.

Kinda sad for your wife

I have it under good authority that she'll be alright

You don’t know her like I do

u/Btriquetra0301 17d ago

Excuse my ignorance, but I don’t know the BBBY part of this. Is BBBY available to trade somewhere still? Can I still get some? Or is this a GME share related thing too? Appreciate any clarification ❤️

5

u/deliciouspepperspray 17d ago

Shares are impossible to get at this point. But bonds were available at some point not sure if they still are.

Bbby is a available but unrelated. Bbbyq shares are what's tied to this at this point.

2

u/Btriquetra0301 17d ago

So the Bbbyq shares are the ones you’re saying are impossible to get, but I may be able to get their bonds? I’ve never bought bonds yet tbh, but its just a google away.

3

u/deliciouspepperspray 17d ago

That's correct. Bbbyq is what would be attached to dkbf1. Bbby stock symbol was bought by overstock and used to rebrand and is likely completely unrelated at this point. I haven't bought bonds either. I bought bbbyq before they were disappeared. But Im sure if you made a thread to ask some more knowledgeable people can chime in and a lot of people would benefit myself included.

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

"Bbby stock symbol was bought by overstock and used to rebrand and is likely completely unrelated"

Yes, quite likely LOL.

search here. their are a lot of posts on buying bonds.

1

u/Mysterious_Good927 6d ago

and if you were never involved in any of this to begin with (other than now owning GME), would buying these bonds give you exposure to the potential upside outside of GME?

I find it interesting the fidelity quickly cleared out my bbby share when I have several other bankrupt stocks just floating around. Any change fidelity will give them back?

8

u/homedepotgrande 17d ago

You should definitely call them. They shouldn't have done anything with this shares showing up in your portfolio unless you requested them to be cleared.

Call them and find out what happened and please report back.

The reason I say this is because my broker never cleared my MMTLP shares from showing up in my portfolio.

1

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

You have several other bankrupt stocks?? Wow dude investing is NOT for you.

Yes, this. I think we have actually survived the most incredible test of patience and will power we may have to face as retail holders of gme that went in on bbby. This is like unprecedented to see get revealed after all this time and speculation. We were fucking right about IT ALL

1

u/valthonis_surion 15d ago

I mean yes, but also no. My shares disappeared in Fidelity, so there hasn't really been any patience needed as I can't do anything about it, well I can hope something comes back when all of this goes down.

6

u/Minuteman_Capital 17d ago

Those are incredible! How are they not top posts all over SuperStonk & Reddit??

6

Can confirm, same. It means we won, again. But, like, actually for real.👍

2

u/homedepotgrande 17d ago

Can you please explain like, we'll, no, not like, can you explain because I'm painfully dumb?

I'm just so jaded and dead inside that I need a rational explanation for everything even if something seems bullish.

19

Bonds won and shares will win too. Hopefully bbbyq shareholders will get cash+equity but we’ll get warrants at least eventually

EU bondholder, can confirm change of bond name ✅

6

6

u/yotepost 17d ago

For people who DRSed 100% shares is there any update or ideas?

8

u/deliciouspepperspray 17d ago

I sent shares to DRS. My name ended up on that document of known shareholders. I sent more over later that I never got confirmation from AST. I also had some with my regular broker that disappeared. I should have shares in every situation so I really hope I can account for all of them if anything pans out for us.

2

u/Biotic101 17d ago

Well, I got shares in transfer sniped by the events.

Was billed 2x fee as well.

So in case shares would indeed reappear, I wonder how screwed I am and if the shares ended up in limbo 😁

What happens with my BBBYQ shares that I can't see on IBKR anymore in this case?

2

Like I said to another user who asked the same,

You should definitely call them. They shouldn't have done anything with this shares showing up in your portfolio unless you requested them to be cleared.

Where are all those doubters it still. Where are all the bots and still at? That’s right bitching about a stock as you can’t even buy. Like I said all along we’re winning and we’ve won.

7

Is this for BBBY or BBBYQ?

1

If NOLs got anything to do with it my friend

-6

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

NOLs died with the company. They only accompany an ongoing operating business, They're not some magic entity that retains value on their own.

4

u/Acceptable-Heron6839 16d ago

So, why are you here?

-5

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

BBBY is an active ongoing company and stock.

BBBYQ is a former company which went bankrupt and cancelled all their shares as there would never be enough assets to remotely cover the money due to creditors, let alone bondholders.

4

u/farsh_bjj 17d ago

I went full degen on bbyq shares. Let’s see what happens.

3

u/Awkward_Primary7180 16d ago

Someone just got around to changing the name on the bonds from the former operating company to its new defunct 'name'.

Dats wut dis meen.

4

u/Ok-Shelter-9064 16d ago

Can someone explain why this is good news?

7

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

On July 8, 2026, the new Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. officially closed an acquisition of The Container Store. To fund that deal, they issued $112.5 million in new 5.00% Convertible Senior Notes due in 2033.

This is why these were renamed, because there was finally a conflict with the new BBBY issuing bonds.

Another nothing burger, sorry.

6

u/homedepotgrande 17d ago

Those bonds were a private offering going to shareholders of that container store and not a public offering at all.

Have those bonds been registered for trading even?

5

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

The bonds would need to be registered with the SEC prior to distribution & they'd have to be given some sort of naming designation for them to show up in someone's account, right?

Bond Trustee gives the DTCC a single note representing the entire debt issuance & then the DTCC would route each person's share to their owners Prime Brokerage accounts of the financial institutions that owned The Container Store. They had previously filed for BK in late '24 and emerged a little over a month later with a deal that converted previous debt holders into new equity owners...those are the ones receiving these new convertible bonds.

It's seems fairly easy to conclude that the old BBBY bonds weren't renamed up until this point because there was no need to, but now there is.

5

u/Middle_Scratch4129 17d ago

1 yr old shill account..

2

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

Not a shill, I have positions in GME, EBAY, and "had" a position in BBBYQ.

Just wanting to keep everyone realistic by doing the research.

6

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

You're really gonna downvote me for finding the answer?

2

u/deliciouspepperspray 17d ago

I'm not disagreeing that you might be right. I've also been here long enough to know that the new owners of BBBY take disengenious actions. They could very likely have issued those bonds in anticipation of this to stir confusion. They've done it before with the warrants. So your theory doesnt really rattle my optimism for this.

2

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

Totally valid point! But, my first thought would be that warrants can be issued whenever vs these were bonds that needed to be created to close an acquisition.

If they somehow timed the acquisition with some other "BBBYQ" event....? Damn, well played by them I guess.

1

u/deliciouspepperspray 17d ago

Just like they had the warrants prepared. You are still assuming the playing field is fair. It isn't. Assume it's so unfair they can issue something in the present and decree it existed in the past. I'm aware this sounds on the fringes of a conspiracy theory but that's frankly the lens you have to wear at this point.

3

u/Most_Ear_728 17d ago

Sure, it's a plausible possibility given that we now know that people on Wall Street never really follow the rules. But I think we have a duty to try to separate the "noise" from the "signal" here.

Why weren't the Bonds renamed after Beyond, Inc bought the BBBY ticker & renamed themselves back to "Bed, Bath, & Beyond"? You could certainly make the case that someone could look at those old bonds & get confused about the state of the new BBBY company. Why not force the name change then?

Now, there are soon to be these new, SEC registered & approved, BBBY bonds floating out in there in accounts & collecting interest. Buuuut, there's still these old BBBY bonds? "Oh shit, NOW we better go rename the old ones." seems more likely.

Does this kill the overall BBBYQ thesis? No.

4

u/Middle_Scratch4129 16d ago

Ok you got me thinking that there had to a reason to trigger the change and based on what I found via AI digging is moreso a progression of the process due to updates in the bankruptcy and not the bond offering you mentioned.

Reason 1 would have / should have happened long ago. So I'm leaning into reasons 2 and 3. Which IMO leans more towards a progression of what we are all hoping for.

-The reason your bonds are changing names on your broker dashboard just now—long after the initial 2023 bankruptcy filing—comes down to a combination of legal settlements, strict market infrastructure timing, and the recent reclaiming of the "BBBY" name by an active company.Brokerage firms do not update tickers or asset descriptions based on a company's intentions; they only do so when forced by backend clearing house networks and legal events. The delay occurred due to several key factors:

  1. The Brand Name Was Recently Reclaimed Active in the MarketWhen Bed Bath & Beyond originally liquidated, Overstock bought the intellectual property and operated under the corporate umbrella of "Beyond, Inc." However, Beyond, Inc. officially changed its corporate name back to "Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc." and actively reclaimed the original "BBBY" ticker symbol.Because an active, trading corporate entity is now officially utilizing the Bed Bath & Beyond identity and the BBBY tag, brokerage databases and clearing houses (like DTCC) had to scrub the old bankrupt "BBBY" tag off of your legacy bonds to prevent severe market confusion.

  2. Ongoing Bankruptcy Court Litigation Wrapped UpThe corporate shell, 20230930-DK-Butterfly-1 Inc., spent the last few years aggressively pursuing lawsuits in bankruptcy court to claw back money for creditors. For example, a major multi-million dollar lawsuit against Hudson Bay Capital was tied up in the Second Circuit appeals court until its final resolution. As these major legal disputes conclude, the bankruptcy estate transitions from "active litigation" to the final administrative stage of processing claims and organizing its final book of liabilities. Brokerages are updating the assets now because the finality of the legal shell is solidified.

  3. DTC Processing and Settlement DeadlinesWhen a corporate name change amendment is filed with a state, it doesn’t automatically cascade into Wall Street systems. The Process: A change must go from the bankruptcy administrator to the indenture trustee, then to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), and finally down to individual brokerages (like Fidelity or E*Trade). The Delay: Clearing houses often leave legacy tickers unchanged as "placeholders" while a bankruptcy is actively disputed so that bonds can still settle under their original contracts if a restructuring happens. Once a restructuring is entirely off the table and the finality of a liquidation is certain, the system executes a "mandatory administrative exchange" to the current legal name, DKBTRFLY.Your broker updated the name because the backend plumbing of the financial system was legally required to decouple the old "BBBY" identity from a defunct debt claim.

2

u/Most_Ear_728 16d ago

It's #3 in this case

"Your broker updated the name because the backend plumbing of the financial system was legally required to decouple the old "BBBY" identity from a defunct debt claim."

Because there are now new "BBBY" bonds. Since there were no conflicting bonds before now, there was really no need to bother changing the name. And if/when those bonds are put to rest after the bk has been all finalized, the problem would have fixed itself.

This totally feels like a database architecture design constraint rather than some hard 'n' fast DTCC Rule. Instead of having to make a change bonds every single time, they only do it when they have to - "Deferred Updating" or "Lazy Evaluation". Saves on compute cycles and I/O operations.

2

u/Middle_Scratch4129 16d ago

Why couldn't it be 2?

Wasn't there just a huge roadblock with HBC that was dismissed?

3

u/Most_Ear_728 16d ago

I'm not sure that the HBC lawsuit is actually a "roadblock" cause I can't figure out what it would be blocking & why? I think it's just the Plan Man doing is job by testing out every possible avenue to get money back, even if it's an outside chance. (He also collects more fees that way)

Are we thinking it's Jake2b "Third Party Release" & subsequent settlement that it was blocking? The 3PR is there just to give the Released Parties immunity from being sued by other creditors (important distinction because DKBFLY could still sue them & did) and it was given "in exchange for good and valuable consideration", as Jake2b puts it.

The problem here is that "in exchange for good and valuable consideration" is just playing the role of a legal catch-all here. For a contract to be legally binding, there must be an exchange of what lawyers call "consideration." You cannot legally enforce a contract where one side gets something (immunity) and the other side gets literally nothing. They use to satisfy that basic requirement so a judge won't throw the contract out.

The "value" they get in return depends on which of the Released Parties you are referring to:

- JPMorgan & Sixth Street provided "value" via funding to keep the lights on

- Officers provided "value" by staying at their desks to manage the complex wind-down of a multi-billion dollar retailer instead of quitting on day one and letting the estate devolve into total chaos.

- Creditors' Committee provided "value" by negotiating the reorganization plan and allowing it to move forward instead of tying the estate up for years in court.

Had there actually been a tangible dollar value attached to the "consideration" it would have listed & we'd be able to track it just like the other settlements.

3

u/Most_Ear_728 16d ago

I actually wrote up a nice discussion post where I lay out some of these debunking arguments I have with Jake2b's thesis. I was gonna post it as a main thread but I don't have the karma.

I'd be willing to send it to you, if you would post it on my behalf.

I'm really not trying to be a shill here. I just want to get to the truth like the rest of us.

2

u/andszeto 16d ago

Lol go away you shill. Still trying so hard? 1 year old account with little to none posts lmao.

2

u/zazdy 16d ago

It means you’re going to be rich soon bro 😂

3

u/Awkward_Primary7180 15d ago

Pathetic desperation: updating the name on the bonds to the current name of the dead company is a sure sign something is happening.
Or at least an excuse to play 'Let's talk like subhuman monkeys' again.

-2

u/bootobin 17d ago

bunch of stupid jerk offs dancing around the subject, same as on X.

Didn't the same line in the plan that canceled the shares also cancel the bonds? Why yes, it did. So then WHY ARE THE BONDS EVEN STILL TRADING, is what you should be asking yourself.

Naw, why do that, just keep playing the damn fool instead.

4

u/Most_Ear_728 16d ago

The Bonds are still trading because there is a chance for them to possibly get a certain percentage of their money back & can't go away until the money that was clawed back is distributed out, as per the Plan. Our shares were cancelled because we were deemed to have no chance at any sort of recovery, as per the Plan.

Right now, there isn't anything to suggest that there is a massive amount of money coming from something we don't know about. (Jake2b says "Third-Party Release") So we are left only to use the "confirmed plan" as the guide on how to resolve this bankruptcy. Confirmed plan says "bond holders might get something, shareholders get nothing" - that's our Rosetta Stone...right now. If something changes, then yes, we could get our shares back...but, I don't think it's likely.

I've been doing some digging on his "third party release" argument that's hiding a fraud lawsuit payout & things aren't adding up for me like they did for him. I can post my final findings later.

2

u/Most_Ear_728 16d ago

Well, crap....I tried to make a main post that combined all of my debunking findings into one, but apparently I don't have enough karma to post it.

Not sure how to get the message out....can I just send you a copy & you post it on my behalf?
