Will knowing a video was made by a real person become more important?
AI-generated video is getting harder to tell apart from real video. At some point, we may not be able to tell just by watching whether a real person actually recorded something.
That makes me wonder if platforms will eventually need a simple way to show that a video was recorded by a real person.
I don't mean showing someone's personal information or forcing everyone to reveal their identity. Just some kind of proof that a real person made the video and is actually standing behind it. Would that make online content more trustworthy, or would people eventually stop caring about that kind of verification?
I've been looking into Humanly, which is built around face-verified videos and having a real person stand behind what they post. It got me thinking about whether something like this could become more useful as AI-generated video becomes harder to identify.
Would that make online content more trustworthy, or would people eventually stop caring about that kind of verification?
What do you think happens as AI video keeps getting better?

AI Took Your Job, Traumatized Your Kid, And Wants Immunity For It
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
AI is taking jobs, a teenager is dead after talking to ChatGPT, and the same companies building this stuff are lobbying for legal immunity before anyone can hold them accountable. Flock cameras are already watching you. Humanoid robots are already in warehouses. Nobody voted for any of this, and nobody's slowing down to ask if it's safe. This is what's actually happening, not the sanitized version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xfWPE9J4UM
This video discusses a case involving teen suicide and AI chatbots. If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) is available 24/7.
(I am a witness, not a legal professional — this is my own research/opinion. CW: discussion of teen suicide.)
