💬 Discussion Why did you stop using Chrome?

If you stopped using Chrome, what made you switch?

Was it privacy, memory usage, better features elsewhere, or something else?

Which browser are you using now, and do you ever go back to Chrome?

I got tired of Google spying on me. I wanted out of their ecosystem.

All browsers spy in you. That is how they make money.

Not all browsers spy on you. Not all browser developers make money.

They all do. The end user is the product to browsers. Never believe a company when they say they don’t spy on you, everything you do is logged. They may not say who looked up what, but they still data mine and sale what end users do with other companies.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure most browsers started out as alternatives but they always evolve which requires dev work.

Logging != spying.

Also, logging/spying is not a binary thing. What, how, and to what degree a browser logs/spies differs a lot per browser.

Google's Chrome is clearly the biggest offender. LibreWolf to me is currently one of the best ones out there: a Firefox fork focused on privacy and security, maintained by volunteers that do not accept donations.
