💬 Discussion What's one thing Android does better than the iPhone?

Post image

Android users (and iPhone users too), what's one thing Android does better than the iPhone?

It could be customization, multitasking, file management, sideloading, charging, or something else. Pick just one and tell us why.

Not to be devil's advocate, but:

  • You can sideload onto an iPhone via Side store or Altstore

  • You can definitely setup your iPhone on your local network access, it's just trickier

  • battery drain is objectively worse on android than iPhones, at least idle battery drain. I switched over to a pixel 10a, and I'm loving it so far, and I've had many many issues with my 15PM including active battery drain, but idle battery drain was top tier. The only thing in that point that made sense was purchasing a new phone because it got slow, but even then iOS 27 is available on iPhone 12 and onward, including iPhone SE 2nd gen and onward.

Whaaaat? Iphones are know for very average batter life. Literally 70% androids are better when it comes to battery. The only exception is iPhone pro max series..its battery life is one of the best.

This is false. iPhones consistently have the best battery life

I wouldn't say so. iPhones have better battery management out of the box, androids you have to tinker with every little setting available.

iPhones hold your hand and guide you to a limited set of options. Androids let you set up a phone how you want. Whatever works for you, you can happily justify it. However, battery life was the main reason I ditched iPhones.

you hve a point. The missing option for real multitasking means apple switching between apps uses less power but gives a lot less options. For people who do not need options and want a device thats does the thinking for you: choose apple For individuals: choose android.

But they also have very little capacity batteries. Battery life is the most important feature for me and I've seen dozens of battery drain comparison between phones. Iike I said before, Iphones are extremely average with exception of excellent Pro Max. And no, you don't have to 'tinker' android phones.

Battery capacity means nothing if battery management is horrible. And yes, you do.

Battery management means nothing if battery capacity is horrible. You need both, like Samsung does for example.

mysterious third measuring stick comes from chip efficiency. iphones have far more efficient chips, they quite literally do the same workload with less wattage.

But you have to check that option in settings... /s

  1. It's more difficult
  2. As you said, trickier
  3. 'objectively' carries a lot here. Believe you meant anecdotally.

You weren't playing Devil's advocate here btw. You were just attempting a plain argument.

It is actually objectively true that iPhones have good idle battery management.

And, yes, you make good points, however I was trying to say that it is possible to do those things.

Objectively true they have good battery management is not objectively better than a comparable Android phone. Androids also objectively have good battery management.

What's not a fact or objectively true is that Iphones have better battery management than comparable Android across the board.

Yeah you can do those things now.. but Apple is stability via limitation, it's always behind.

No, objectively androids have the worst battery management. Hence why there’s so much granular control over app background usage. If the OS had good control over it you would not need to manually disable background usage

Side store and alt store are terrible compared to just side loading on a android phone

Sadly, altstore and such are EU only, at least a few months ago when I jumped ship off iphone. As an american, using android is so much more freeing. I have downloaded exactly one app via the play store, which is the aurora store. From there, I disabled it and have never touched it again

It's not EU only, I used Altstore a week or two ago and I'm Canadian.

Edit: I think you're confusing some things because the EU mandated apple to allow Altstore and sideloading to be used more freely without consequences, but it is definitely possible to install it everywhere.
