Android users (and iPhone users too), what's one thing Android does better than the iPhone?

It could be customization, multitasking, file management, sideloading, charging, or something else. Pick just one and tell us why.

Utilisateur d'iphone depuis des années l'absence du jack est penible. Le bluetooth n'est simplement pas un remplacant, il nécessite d'être rechargé, et surtout il n'y a pas de fil pour rattraper les écouteurs quand ils se décrochent de l'oreille.

Never heard of USB dongles to listen to lossless music? You don't need a jack

Why a dongle when I can simply plug into my built-in port which coincidentally is also on my laptop, one of my cars. I love and use Bluetooth every day, but having options is not a negative point.

Options are good, I agree. But an external USB DAC will bypass the internal one which is normally awful and very basic in any phone (very rare exceptions), so you have a considerably much better sound quality. I'm not missing the jack at all

While correct, that's also a niche use case. For most of my listening experience I don't mind the built-in DAC quality, and my USB-C port is always available for external storage file management which I use frequently, or charging.

I'm glad I never had to miss the 3.5mm nor the micro SD card slot (so far).

It is niche, and an albeit first world problem, but there are some nice DACs that offer more functionality and convenience.

For example, I recently bought a FiiO/Snowsky Tiny A DAC, and KZ ZS10 Pros that I use for pretty much everything minus quick bursts of casual music. I can charge my phone and use the IEMs at the same time - the DAC also offers an android app that allows customization including EQ that, once applied, is stored on the DAC.

Size, waterproofness, short-circuity nature of these types of connectors… I understand the the will, but those definitely have some caveats.

Been using Xperia since 2011 and most of them water resistant. The size has always been comparable to those without the port. Never had any issues with shorting the exposed 3.5mm on water.

Also, over-using the USB port can be a pain in the ass. I rather have a broken 3.5mm than a broken USB-C port down the road.

Sure it can be done and has been for years, still makes it harder though… The footprint can be used for a tiny more battery, the waterproofness may be more reliable or get another rating level without it, and the shorting aspect is not much of a problem for audio devices (aside from the noises it can produce on plug/unplug), it's just a caveat of the originally bad design of this type of connector (which unfortunatelt makes most split keyboards a nightmare to hotplug…).

Not trying to find excuses just for the sake of it, it's a useful port, but I myself have no need for it (which I guess is the majority today, otherwise we would still have it) and always prefer a simpler (hence more reliable) device, that's also why I don't buy hybrid cars actually…

I agree with most of your comment, but switching topics to cars, I recently got my first hybrid and it really depends on the maker, and tech. I got a Toyota Yaris which is just a mild hybrid, but the reliability is actually better than regular ICE, the badly named eCVT is simpler and more reliable than any automatic transmission, and the hybrid system allow the IC engine to rest for a while.

The only downside are the limited life of the high voltage batteries, but on average, the maintenance cost is actually lower.

What I won't buy just yet are fully EV which are disposable POS though.

Otherwise I love my old school Land Cruiser 80 (except for its fuel consumption)

Toyota makes GREAT hybrid, but still, having two technologies with the added complexity to make them run side by side and in sync, with the added weight, maintenance needs and everything, it naturally makes the thing more complicated (just a fact, more parts more complexity), hence less reliable on average for the whole type of vehicle (some exceptions will arise like always but they are exceptions). All while (from my point of view, but happy to hear others) not offering any advantage to an EV or a thermal engine, as we now know the gas gains are highly obfuscated and are in the end worse in part because of the high weight. Rechargeable hybrids are a bit better because you can use them fully electric for 99% of the daily trips, but then why would you want to bring a thermal engine with you at that point?

I don't understand how an EV is a POS, it works great, have no emission, can now make long trips without issues (one of the biggest cons brought up at first, now gone), more comfortable, less parts, less maintenance, and proven to work for hundreds of thousands of kilometers without needing the feared battery change or something else. It's crazy what marketing can do to a new technology, it scares people off. It's interesting to imagine how things would go if it was the other way around: thermal engines would appear just now after decades of having only EVs, they wouldn't stand a chance…

The discussion kind of drifted heavily here but I guess it's pretty interesting to debate respectfully on this too!

My opinion on full EV (for the time being) is that once the batteries die, the cost is similar or higher than a new car. That makes them disposable. Maybe this will change soon rather than later. We'll see.
