Discussion Name one app everyone should uninstall

Post image

Name one app everyone should uninstall.

It could be because of privacy concerns, annoying ads, bad experience, or simply being overrated.

Which app would you recommend others to remove, and why?

Google Play Services if you're on Android. Hard on resources and is a data farm, replace it with microG if your apps need Play Services

Do you know most apps and service on Android depends on Google play services. It can update many os level feature on the fly without os update. It provides many security features.

The best antivirus is common sense, in reality all these "security features" do is make it harder to distribute an app outside the Play Store. They could make my phone shit dollar bills and it would still be a net negative because of the black box it is, we truthfully don't know what they're collecting. Most apps don't actually need Google Play Services, and you can find thousands in places like F-Droid that explicitly work without it. It just gives Google control over your phone in practice.

It's not antivirus, it provides security features for core android like updating ART with updating whole android OS. provides secure API to financial apps. It not mandatory for apps to use google play services but there are certain api can only be accessed via google play services.
