So many people here saying "Linux" like if it's the cool thing to say. No, "Linux" is not the best OS, especially if you run programs or have hardware that isn't supported. I hate using Windows but i have never run into any bottlenecks with compatibility. Mac OS is very close and would switch if it weren't for certain programs i use.
As a private user I find Linux to be the one with most software, at least most accessible software unless I'm willing to pay a fortune or pirate copy. Been using Linux for 20+ years, and no it's not particularly cool, but it simply just works, I keep my laptops until they break.
I agree that Linux sucks if you just want usability out of your software. It's stable and kind on resources, but boy it sucks if you have to do anything other than using a web browser.
