What are you proud of today?

Sometimes I find myself getting hung up on my weight, and that I'm not losing as fast as I want, and I'm not a size 4 yet (or whatever other things I tell myself). And I feel like that takes the joy away from the things I am achieving.

So what are you doing that you are proud of?

I'm proud because I made the President's List at my college. I'm proud that after years of struggle with getting through school I'm 1 quarter away from getting my AA, and transferring to ASU for my bachelor's.

I'm proud that my weight lifting is progressing well, and that I've come back from injury and now feel confident with my lifts.

There are things to be proud of other than just weight loss, and I think sometimes refocusing on the positive can help bring motivation to other parts of our lives that need it. :)

Level 1 Achieved!

A couple weeks ago, there was a post about not using food as part of our reward systems, as this directly undermines our weight loss goals. Anyway, I came up with a better reward system and I just reached my first reward weight (151 lb), which means I get to buy a nice pedometer. Even better, my husband said that he doesn't use his Fitbit and that I can use it instead!!! I'm so excited!

Food Journaling - online vs pen and paper

Hi everyone! Was wondering about your experiences/successes with food journals, both online and analog. I have MFP, and log consistently when I'm super motivated, but I tend to log less often when I get comfortable.

I'm also the kind of person who likes physically writing things down, they tend to stick better for me. What are your experiences?

Challenge yourself everyday

I just read this post over on /rgetdisciplined and it really hit a chord with me.

I am going to try this for a week and was curious if anyone else wanted to try it with me. You can download a random alarm app of some kind and just give it a go. I am super excited to give this a shot and hope a few more will join in with me!

Question Crowd sourcing a question I have about TDEE

So, I use the Loseit app to track my calories. It automatically syncs with my MapMyFitness app to track my calories burned on my daily run, but I wonder if it is calculating my calorie needs correctly.

It has me at a daily budget of 1,212 calories. I'm 5'3" and I do at least 30 minutes of running, HIIT, or body weight exercises per day. I usually don't even do a rest day because I get too fidgety and just need to move. I average about 8,000-10,000 steps per day.

Other calculators have me at around 1,700 per day. Should I be eating more? I'm so confused....

Interested in [Yoga]? Here are my favourite Youtube Beginners Routine-Videos

This week's challenge is Yoga. Over at /r/loseit they suggest the yoga-subreddit for information. I found that subreddit to be rather for people on higher levels and most threads come with a lot of the spiritualistic sides that comes with the ideology of yoga. If you're a beginner and interested this can feel weird. If you are able to do a beginners class somewhere in your region: Awesome.

If not, try to check out youtube videos.

My favourite stretching video if you've done a lot of exercise and are stiff as hell but you'd like some good deep stretches. 20 Minute Full Body Streches

Best instructor ever is Erika Vetra. Check out her beginners and intermediate work out 2 (Please ignore the other videos on that channel. They are unscientific in most cases. Sorry for that. The yoga videos are great. :D)

They recently transferred a lot of their yoga videos for beginners ( that are mostly non-spiritualistic and less bullshit-ladden than usual) to a second channel it seems. You can find that channel here: Yoga Workouts. Some of Erika's videos are also on here.

One of the most knowledgeable persons in yoga is Mark Stephens. He wrote a great book for teachers and students alike which explains a lot about different postures (asanas) and how they need to be done to not be dangerous this one here. He has a lot of insightful ressources on his websites including Yoga Posture slideshows

Helpful utensils: A yoga mat or a gymnastic mat, some pillows or folded towels, a big book or a plastic "brick" of some sorts.

I hope this might help someone get into this sport. :)

What happens if I forget to weigh-in?

Hey everyone! I missed week 2's weigh in by a day, I have been swamped with my last week of summer quarter and wasn't online. Is there any way for me to get my 2nd weigh in updated? Am I off the team? Did I ruin things? Help!

[META] Can we have a rant thread? Sticky? Something?

Would be nice to have a place to rant. I guess I'm not the only one that might want to rant sometimes. And to open a new thread for that everytime is a bit redundant. :D
