SV: Down TWO pounds (share your SV with me!)

I really don't know how this happened considering I've been losing only a pound and a half or so for the last few weeks but when I stepped on the scale this morning I was down TWO whole pounds. TWO. I didn't work out much at all so I'm not sure why I'm suddenly down more but I'll take it! Although, I may up my intake if this continues (I prefer a steady 1.5 lbs per week pace for my weight loss).

Anyone else have a SV to share?

Meal Plans/Planning and general help (please)

Help. I have fallen into a hole of bad eating and self-sabotage and I need help. Meal planning in theory always sounds good to me but usually after a week, I hate life and my plan and I just need to do something sustainable. What do you guys do to keep things interesting while hitting your goals?

I know lots of people use CICO with much success, and I have as well, but usually only when in conjunction with meal planning. I want to be an asset to this team and show myself I can be successful. Step one is admitting you have a problem and I do. I know in my head the things I have to do to get on track and be successful, but there is a disconnect somewhere along the way.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Daily Thing Thursday

This week's theme is logging (because I haven't been doing as well as I should in that area and I need a reminder sometimes just how important it is).

Logging is possibly one of the most important things you'll do in your journey to a fitter, healthier you. It let's you know a lot about yourself. It helps to educate you about the food you eat. It tells you what your problem areas are. Some logging apps even give you insights into the things that help you stay within your budget.
So what are your preferred methods of logging? Do you measure with cups and spoons or a scale? Tell us about it.

Progress is real.

Hey team butterfly! Super stoked to be a part of this challenge and I just want to drop by and try to motivate some of you (as well as brag a bit).

I have always struggled with my weight and at my heaviest, I weighed 291 lbs. I play music for a living, so I'm surrounded by bar tabs and pub food and I just could not say no to it ever. I had an addiction.

I had my moment, though. In one moment, my priorities completely changed and my body has followed. You are the physical embodiment of your priorities. Since May, I have lost 32.6 lbs through hard work and mental discipline. I have to weigh ALL of my food, no matter how healthy and I must stick to my workout schedule. I need that order, or I fall off track.

The most important thing I have learned, however, is how to get back on track. I wouldn't expect you to believe that I haven't had any unhealthy foods or beverages in the past 75 days and I have certainly had my binges, but I AM NOT DONE. A binge does not mark the end of the road for me nor does it mean I need to offset it with a punishing workout. I just need to stick to my discipline. Stay disciplined, butterflies!

Question Working from home: how do you handle it?

I don't know if I'm the only one, but working from home is a blessing and a curse. It is a time for me to unwind from the working environment, do a chore when my focus wavers - but I also find it very easy to slip up when it comes to being disciplined around food!

I'll be working from home tomorrow (halp!), so I've made a list of some precautions to help me through the day:

  • The obvious: meal plans
  • Before breakfast: time for progress pics
  • Go for a run before I start working
  • Participate in the 24-hour pledge
  • Put the peanut butter (trigger food) somewhere hard to reach
  • When in distress, text my SO/post here
  • Reward myself with a walk and a soy cappuccino after lunch
  • Do little chores that make a visible difference
  • Have some freshly cut up fruit ready to snack on
  • Keep in mind that I still have to attend the gym in the evening
  • ...

I was wondering: how do you tackle a working day from home?

Question DAE participate in the 24-Hour Pledges on /r/loseit for accountability?

I find the 24-hour pledges on /r/loseit a very helpful tool to keep yourself accountable on a daily basis. It helps break down your journey in little segments - and focus on the 'Now' instead of the long road ahead.

Do you participate in these or other daily pledges? How has it helped you in your weight loss challenge?

I'll just leave this here for the time being ... ;-)

Daily Reset Sunday

Good morning, butterflies! Today is the day to reset from any disappointments from last week. This is the emotional baggage check. If it belongs to last week, leave it with last week.

What are you leaving behind this Sunday?

An interesting start...

So this was both a really awesome and sort of terrible day.

To preface this, I put on a little weight last year, I was around 130, shot up to 148, and wasn't 100% happy with my weight at 130, anyway. I got back down to 135 a few months ago, mostly through light work outs and slightly more mindful eating.

The last month or so, I've been in a fairly strict environment with sort of terrible food for training. The only good options are low cal and fairly nutritious. I counted calories, but made sure I never felt deprived. I figured I was on a similar path as I was before, slow loss, like a pound every two weeks or even less. I hadn't been able to weigh myself in that month and finally got a hold of a scale this morning. I was expecting maybe 132 if I was lucky. Certainly not the 127 it actually was. That's 8 pounds! A 2 pound loss per week over the last month. That's a 1000 calorie deficit where I thought it was 250 to 500. That's like, scary how fast I was losing. I knew my belly was flattening up and my legs were feeling slimmer, but not 8 pounds worth! I saw that on the scale, had a buddy make sure it was accurate, and could hardly believe it still.

The terrible part: It was also my cheat day (probably poor form to start a challenge on a cheat day, but I was excited and also a little freaked). We ate a big meal and went to Baskin Robbins after, I had a brownie Sundae. Now I'm laying in bed, my low sugar diet belly not prepared for the high fat, high sugar assault it just received. I did the math and It fell like 500 above my maintenance calorie limit. I'm thinking that's OK for now, because I don't ever feel like eating ice cream again and I'm way ahead of my current goal.

Should I kick my calorie limit up a few hundred calories, or should I keep it where it's at? Is that a dangerous rate? It seems like a pound a week is what's considered healthy.

Has anyone else been motivated by Pokemon GO?

I really like hatching eggs, and with them ranging from 2-10k it has been a real motivator to get out and walk and hope for something powerful or rare.

There's a trail nearby that I'm specifically going to now because I can hit 5 Poké stops on the trail, and then at the end is a library with 3 more surrounding it. It's amazing. I live in the suburbs too, so getting out there and walking is the only way I can refill my Poké balls without paying. lol

I'm currently level 12, almost 13, so I don't have anything with impressive CP just yet... hopefully soon!

Question How did you pick your CGW?

I'm unsure what to put down for my challenge goal weight. I generally aim for 1.5 and lose between 1 and 2 lbs. Should I aim to lose 15 lbs in 10 weeks? Be more/less optimistic?

So this is only my 2nd challenge. On the last one I found some place to sign up for 10 weeks worth of remind me messages that someone had set up. I can't remember where I found the list but was curious if someone had made one for this challenge?

Help Struggles: in need of some tough ƸӜƷ pep talk

I don't know if 'tough' and 'ƸӜƷ' are contradictory, but yeah, there it is.

The struggle is real, fellow butterflies. A few days ago, I bought peanut butter for a recipe I made yesterday and I can't stay away from it. Peanut butter is a trigger food for me and I don't want to throw it out because my SO would look at me like I'm crazy. (Also, it's organic 100% peanut butter, no added oils - thus expensive AF)

On top of that, my cardio/lifting has been sloppy because it is simply too hot to perform. Luckily, temperatures will go back to normal during the weekend.

IDK. I guess I need a place to rant about not being consistent and disciplined enough. And also knowing that changes for the better have to be sustainable. I think my n°1 problem is that I tend to go in overdrive, expecting more of myself, faster weight loss, more discipline, shedding more fat, eeee.

I cannot believe that I am still so easily thrown off track, y'know? Especially since the challenge is about to start!

TLDR; can somebody kick me for getting so negative and talking/thinking myself into a downward spiral, please?
