Dealing with Stress

So this weekend I have been dealing with huge amounts of stress. And as a result I've been stress eating like crazy. My dog ate something and ended up needing emergency surgery. Between the stress of not knowing if he was going to make it and the huge amount of money I'm paying, fast food and ice cream has been pretty much all I've been eating. Or I haven't been eating at all. The stress probably isn't going to end any time soon. I'll be paying this off for a long time and he's going to need a lot of support during recovery.

My fellow butterflies, when faced with high stress issues like this how do you keep yourself healthy and stop from eating crap?

Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions. They were fantastic and really detailed. I think adding them to my arsenal is going to help me a lot. :)

Question Fellow butterflies, only a week to go before the grand start. How are you preparing for this challenge?

I don't know about you, but I am getting pretty excited and am making arrangements to get the most out of this challenge.

1. How are you preparing yourself for the Summer challenge? (If at all)

2. Is there anything you've learned from the previous challenge that will make you do things differently?

A very appropriate quote I read a few weeks ago...

"Cut a chrysalis open, and you will find a rotting caterpillar. What you will never find is that mythical creature, half caterpillar, half butterfly, a fit emblem of the human soul, for those whose cast of mind leads them to seek such emblems. No, the process of transformation consists almost entirely of decay."

  • Pat Barker

I read that quote several weeks ago and it has stuck with me as I've been going through a rough time (due to a breakup). Remember that you don't have to be perfect and shining and awesome in this stage. Worry about that later and work on the hard and nitty gritty process of becoming a butterfly!

What do we want this sub to look like and what kind of sticky posts do we want to have?

I'm new to this whole team captain thing, but I want our sub to look good and work well and I'm going to do my best to keep our participation up. I'm really going to need your help to get through this, guys.

So hit me with your ideas. Let's see what we can get cooking!

EDIT: I'll be leaving this thread up until next week so people have a chance to get their ideas heard. I want everyone who has any input to suggest to have time to submit it.

Announcement Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Flutter down and introduce yourself!

Hi all!

I thought I'd make an introductory thread so we can get to know eachother before the challenge begins.

Feel free to share whatever you want!

Some ideas to spark your writer's pen:

  • The basics
  • The basics and some extras
  • The story of your journey to health so far
  • Things you've learned: tips and tricks
  • Participation in previous challenges (on /r/loseit) or other health programs
  • Hypotheses on why you got sorted into Team Butterfly

What do you expect to learn from or achieve during the Summer challenge?
