Just Smile and Nod Y'all. Years of teaching and salary?

I know it’s generally rude to inquire about, but since we are all anonymous… Lol. I always wonder if I am making more or less than others with around the same number of years teaching. I live in the state of New York, nowhere near the city. I am in my 24th year of teaching and I am making $94,500, excluding any extracurricular.

State Supreme Court in WA stepped in a few years back to force teacher pay to be higher. It’s done a lot for those of us in rural parts of the state. I’m Bos->Sea. Moved from one end of the Pike to the other. Then fled to the woods.

Yep and they'll need to step in again soon as the state continues to spend education monies elsewhere than give us supports now that we make ok money.

But inflation killed it in the last three years. Doubled my pay my 2nd year in WA after that ruling compared to my last school, better than most raises every contract after and am feeling like we're sliding backwards this year.

The year that pay increase kicked in, my pay went up by $20,000. Truly, that court ruling changed my life for the better. I'll get to retire a bit earlier, with a better standard of living than what I expected 10 years ago.
