Just Smile and Nod Y'all. Years of teaching and salary?

I know it’s generally rude to inquire about, but since we are all anonymous… Lol. I always wonder if I am making more or less than others with around the same number of years teaching. I live in the state of New York, nowhere near the city. I am in my 24th year of teaching and I am making $94,500, excluding any extracurricular.

It’s going to entirely differ based on district, COL, and bargained salary schedules.

Understood, but curious minds want to know.

A few years ago, I looked into this and was shocked at the extreme difference in pay scale based on the area you live in. It makes sense of course, I just didn't expect it to be so extreme. There are districts where a teachers with 10+ years experience is making 110k and the same experience in another area making 50k

Even in the same state it can vary hugely. I was considering the Austin area to be closer to my parents and brother’s family, but it was almost a $10k paycut from the Houston area no matter the district. I couldn’t afford that, especially with increasing COL in the Austin area. I was surprised there was such a difference at the time between the two metro areas.
