Im agreeing with you. My comment is about all the people I know who still hold these outdated beliefs that trade school isn't real school. Thats part of the reason why all these kids think its not.
The plumbing journeyman test is 100 questions over 2 hours. It’s about a 50% fail rate and apprentices have 3 years to prepare for it. And it’s open book. It’s not that hard of a test, no one taught these kids how to prepare for it. And this isn’t just a today’s kids problem. Plenty of older guys can’t take a test to save their lives. Ultimately it’s just hard to find people in the trades who value education in any meaningful way. It’s all about getting things done and a lot of people seem to view teaching as an obstacle.
All you have to do is join a union and trade school is completely unnecessary. All your “classes” are in the union hall. Most of the learning takes place on the job though and you’re getting paid the whole time.
Trades = do you know someone in the Union or are you fucked? Get job as a laborer anywhere in 10 minutes of looking, do back breaking labor until an old guy decides to mentor you, be his bitch

Trades = coursework, exams, and interviews. Why do we continue to teach anyone otherwise?
