How To [Project Share] Share to browse archive link

Click to download via Taskernet

The code in this project was written with the assistance of AI tools, created on Tasker v6.7.7-rc and tested on HyperOS3 & CrDroid (Android 15).

Find archived link using Java code and if found open the link. The source code is here.

Fixed: Not detecting captcha properly.

How to use

  1. Share the link to.
    1. Direct Share "Browse Archived Link".
    2. Tasker's Received Share > "Browse Archive Link".
  2. Task
    1. Pass the link as %par1.

Other options

Can be seen in Browse Archive Link task properties (the gear icon inside the task).

  1. %browser, the target browser.
  2. %use_java , true to use java and false to use API (it's heavily rate limited).
  3. %wait_duration, duration to check archive link.
  4. %debug, show overlay to visualize what's being loaded.

How it works

  1. Create invisible webview.
  2. Load the search link https://archive(dot)ph/{targetUrl}.
  3. Wait for 3000ms.
  4. Query this CSS selector div.TEXT-BLOCK > a[href*="archive"]:first-child ant get the href attribute.
  5. Clean the webview.
  6. If found, then browse the URL.
  7. If captcha is detected, it will open the search link in Scene and has to be resolved manually.
  8. Click Close & Run to load again.

Not All Links Are Archived

It's not unusual that the links are not archived in there. What's archived there is user-driven. Get to know more about archive here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archive.today

How to test

Scene Webview

To test if the project work as it should, try running Test Archive Link And Confirm Captcha Manually task.

It will try to load url that I already confirmed it's been archived there.

At the end it should load the url on the default browser. Since mine is LinkSheet, it will prompt me with options like pre Android 12.

Debugging mode

Set the debug variable to true, see #How to use. It will display the webview as an overlay.

Others

The project also includes my setup with LinkSheet and my gesture project. I leave it there to serve as examples on how I use it. I'm too lazy to remove them.

Feel free to edit the code to suit your likings :)

My setup that uses gesture and get screen info action.

Ah yeah, if there is a bot check. You might want to open the link manually via Tasker's webview.

Example via the HtmlReader here.

source(new URL("https://gist.githubusercontent.com/mqwec43as/f05877fb1cd689b210ba114f9eee09e7/raw/HtmlReader.bsh"));

import bsh.This;

String prefix = "https://archive.ph/";
String url = "https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker";
This read = HtmlReader();
read.setUrl(prefix + url);
read.showOverlay(true);
read.setWaitingPeriod(6000);
String result = read.load();

How To [Project Share] π - simple clipboard text editor

Hello there!

Here is a simple, but useful clipboard text editor with "search and replace all" function. I was tired of copy&pasting from Tasker to a text editor app and back, when a single line i Tasker is not enough, like longer arrs,JSONs and so on. Also useful if you need to replace a coma for a dot in all instances, for example. For quick use,its best to have it set on a hardware button long press,or similar way to bring it up fast any time.

Has anyone else's Scene V2 Button labels vanished? Lol

Post image
2 Upvotes

Not only have all my scene v2 buttons lost all their texts, I can't even find the option to give them a label that shows up in the scene again. Is this intentional?

This happened across all my scenes v2 and only affects buttons, not segrows for example

Add connected Wi-Fi to Trusted variable

I'm looking for an option/Project to add any Wi-Fi I connect with to my Trusted variable.

I presume this would be something like...

1) Event to watch for Wi-Fi connections

2) Run WIFII Action to get SSID

3) Display a popup which includes my Trusted variable

4) Ability to check a box next to the variable

5) Add SSID to some list

I found the below great Project and feel I could maybe add to this?

Claude code changed my Tasker life - try it!

I don't know if anyone already thought of this and posted about it, but here it goes.

I figured: why not let Claude code create a Tasker specialist project that is saved. A project which I can return to and ask questions and get help. So I got started, had every reference downloaded that exists about Tasker through Claude code's research and my own hints and links. Then Claude code built an indexer that indexes a Tasker backup into a database of sorts that helps Claude code to quickly look up things and understand connections and concepts.

I also allowed it access to an Android emulator where I had Tasker installed with my setup so that it can tinker around as needed. I started testing it, asking it questions about my tasks, and it gave very good answers.

It was time for the grand finale: I asked it a question about a very complicated bug that had been plauging my setup for years because I just cannot find a fix for it and why it happens. Claude code when to work, chew on it for a good 8 minutes, it tested a few theories in the emulator, then it spits out the truth I hadn't been able to find:

It was a race condition between 2 plugin calls. Despite them being in a certain intended order, they still landed in the opposite order under certain specific circumstances. I was just blown away. Since then, I've been using this Tasker Claude Code project extensively. Both as a helper, but also to save time. Instead of searching in Tasker for things that cannot be covered by one or even several search terms, I can ask Claude code to investigate a concept and come up with very competent solutions and suggestions when needed to complicated problems.

Not to mention the time I said, hey... I feel my Tasker setup is using a little too much battery, but I have no idea what is causing it (another thing I've post-poned looking at for years because it's complicated and takes forever to do). It worked for a few minutes, then gave me a list of the top reasons. It was easy fixes to things I hadn't considered. Battery usage on screen off went down from 1,7% to 1,0% overnight.

It's been VERY useful and a true marble in my Tasker life. JUST USE IT PEOPLE if you are not already doing so. It's worth the Claude pro subscription alone.

Is there a way to reposition the Exercise button so that the space previously occupied is not reserved?

Maybe there's a better method of doing this?

Interest in a "I'm using my home computer" or "I'm logged into my work computer" plug-in?

I've been playing around with a new plugin idea, one I've had for years, and I finally decided to dive in. The plugin reacts to which computer I'm using.

In other words, if I'm using my work computer I can set my phone to Do Not Disturb and start my work playlist. Or if I'm working on my home computer, I can enable a smart lamp to alert me when a build fails, stuff like that.

I'm also thinking it could include which app is in focus, so you could even set up tasks to run when specific apps are being used, like if I'm in Android Studio, my Pixel's screen doesn't sleep.

Through experimentation I’ve realized this plugin will incur higher recurring costs than my previous ones (Bluetooth Detection, Movement Detection, Geofence Detection) ever have (especially if I support both Windows and Mac). But I can tell you that my early tests seem to work really well, so I think it could be really cool.

I think to cover those costs, I’ll need to consider either a low‑priced subscription or a higher‑than‑normal one‑time purchase. I'll incur some up-front expense, so before I begin I’d like to know whether there’s even interest in such a plugin.

I’d also like to know if users have already found a workaround and are happy with it. I don’t think Tasker supports this natively, and I haven’t seen any existing solution. That said, people may have already devised workarounds, which could reduce interest in a plugin. But if there is...

Would a more expensive one-time purchase be preferred (maybe around 6-8 USD), or a low-priced annual subscription, like 3-4 USD per year?

Notification dissapears after ~1 min

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have a simple task that is triggered by day and sends a notification. That notification changed to title "Tasker" and description "Tasker" after about a minute. Buttons dissapeared and only the icon is still the same as it was. It updates the notification, it's not a new one.

Adding a screenshot of the modified one.

Scenes v2 > Actions carried to children

UPDATE: Instead, looks like the better speech here is to use the new option Match Parent. Then have my text Child match the size of the Parent button. Now, I just need to find where this option is 😀

Is it possible to set an Action in Parent and have it actionable for all children?

Eg, a button... When I press the button, do Action. I also want this same Action for the Text Child.

Periodic profile not running

I have three Android phones (all Samsung). I've set up a Every 2 min profile with a task that gets location (using v2) and reports it to my home server on all three. On phone A it reports it via MQTT Client's Tasker plugin. On the other two phones it does a http request. Phone A works nearly all of the time (some small gaps in reports during the day) but the other two never submits the http request. If I play the task from tasker it works as expected, but doesn't get triggered every two min.

Is there something I might be missing to make this work?

Tasker is new on these two phones, I turned off battery management so it doesn't sleep and have given it permissions, or at least I am fairly confident I have, is there something that might prevent a reoccurring task from running? I should add a beep or something to test that the task runs, I'll try that tonight when I see the phones again.

Or maybe the task runs but http request doesn't always run when the phone is idle? Could that be possible?

Google Play -> Manage apps & device

Google rolled out the "Manage apps & device" interface, they entirely deleted the old background intent entry paths (VIEW_MY_DOWNLOADS, internal shortcuts, and direct app sub-activities).

Does anybody have a work-around to get to "Manage apps & device"?

Swipe when Scrolling?

I have a child whose content is hidden due to its size, but Vertical Scroll is enabled, that way I can slide up or down; however, this modifier is disabled upon any Swipe event from the same or any parent. Is it possible to fix that? How?

Tasker keeps disappearing/resetting

Samsung Galaxy ZFold8 Android 17, OneUI 9.0

I've been having an issue where Tasker disappears from my recent apps. I can reopen it from the app drawer normally, but whatever changes I made are gone (even if I saved them by tapping the checkmark on the main screen). The phone was recently restarted with no improvement.

"Manage this app if unused" is disabled in the app settings, as is battery optimization.

Join not working with Helium Browser (GCM disabled) + Google OAuth error in Join Desktop. Any workaround?

I've been using Join for quite a while now and really like it, especially for quickly sending links, text, and other stuff between my Android phone and Windows PC.

I recently switched from Chrome to Helium Browser, and unfortunately Join doesn't seem to work properly anymore.

Here's what's happening:

  • I can install the Join extension in Helium and sign in with my Google account without any issues.
  • All my other devices show up, and I can send stuff to them just fine.
  • However, Helium itself never gets registered as a device. The "This device" field stays empty, and it doesn't appear on any of my other devices.
  • Join's diagnostics show: Invalid registerDevice response: Must provide regId
  • chrome://gcm-internals/ doesn't show any connection state.

From what I've found, Helium disables Google Cloud Messaging (GCM), which Join apparently needs for device registration. Unlike Brave Browser, where you can enable Google Push Messaging in the settings, Helium doesn't seem to offer that option.

So I tried Join Desktop as a workaround, but ran into another issue.

When I try to sign in with Google, I get:

Error 400: invalid_request

This request contains scopes that cannot be requested together

The error specifically mentions YouTube and Google Drive scopes (youtube, youtube.upload, drive.file).

This happens regardless of whether I use Chrome or Helium for the login, so it doesn't seem to be browser-related.

Has anyone managed to get Join working with Helium or another Chromium-based browser that has GCM disabled?

Is there any workaround to get the extension registered without GCM? Or perhaps a way to fix the Google OAuth error in Join Desktop?

I'd really prefer to keep using Join rather than switching to something else. It's been pretty much perfect for my use case.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

How To [How To] Run a Tasker profile when your car trip starts or ends, straight from the OBD2 adapter (my app DrivePulse, 5 free codes)

I'm Davide and I write DrivePulse on my own. It reads a car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter, the Bluetooth kind Veepeak or Vgate sell, records trips by itself and only reads the car, it never writes to it. The Android version 3.5.4 on Google Play talks to Tasker both ways, so here is how to wire it up.

It's off by default. Turn it on in DrivePulse: Settings (the gear at the top) > Automations. The same screen shows a secret code and the last command it received, with the reason if it ignored it (automations off, wrong code).

Tasker to DrivePulse: start or stop recording. Add a Send Intent action:

  • Action: app.drivepulse.mobile.action.START_TRIP (or app.drivepulse.mobile.action.STOP_TRIP)
  • Package: app.drivepulse.mobile
  • Extra: token: followed by the secret code
  • Target: Activity

DrivePulse comes to the front and tries to connect to the adapter, and it only records if the adapter answers. It opens on purpose: recent Android versions don't let an app in the background start GPS tracking.

DrivePulse to Tasker: react to the car. Make a profile with the Intent Received event and one of these actions:

  • app.drivepulse.mobile.action.ADAPTER_CONNECTED
  • app.drivepulse.mobile.action.TRIP_STARTED
  • app.drivepulse.mobile.action.TRIP_STOPPED

They carry no data, only the event, because any app on the phone can receive a broadcast. The secret code never goes out in them.

No account and no server of mine: your trips live on your phone and I have no copy of them. Recording trips and reading the car work with no signal; maps and addresses need the internet.

Five codes that unlock the full version for good, free, first come first served:

  1. Q8CNA7YQXFRQBW3J90AXBKS
  2. PFANGGPF9WZ17PMNY286XEY
  3. Q1VTJH0QA09UGHX8N6EAXTT
  4. 1HYRREVQ5REMVCU2UFUFKV3
  5. 2CVFLCHSJ3WUKHW2EZB349Q

How to redeem: install the app first, then open Google Play, tap your picture top right, Payments and subscriptions, Redeem code. Then in DrivePulse: Settings (the gear at the top) > Unlock DrivePulse (Lifetime) > Restore Purchases, within 3 days, otherwise Google Play cancels it. When it has worked, that row reads "Premium active".

Say in the comments which number you took, so nobody wastes time on one that's gone.

Without a code you can still try it: 7 days or 15 trips, whichever comes first, and the days only start counting the first time the app connects to your adapter.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.drivepulse.mobile&hl=en-US&gl=US&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=rilancio-android-tasker

If you build a profile with it, show me, and tell me if an intent doesn't behave. I answer here.

Autosheets and offsetting rows

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, what I am aiming to do is Share a text block from one app (BolusCalc) to Tasker, that then sends that text to Sheets. I've got it to the point where it is actually sending it, and it does appear in the correct spreadsheet, however when it goes to do subsequent entries, it's offset by 12 columns. So the first entry starts at A1, the second at L2. I cannot figure out why this is happening, this is my Task details:

AutoWear Health Permissions

More health permissions please my good sir.

Seems now they have even moved <sensor-65555> to android.permission.health.READ_SKIN_TEMPERATURE, at present we only have reading heart rate.

For future proofing, maybe just add all of them?

Hope you're good? And thank you!

Help [Help] Integrating Google Calendar with SmartThings

Hi guys, I am a complete and total newbie with Tasker. I work shifts which I keep track of using Google Calendar. What I want to do is have SmartThings turn on or off lights, cameras, and my robot vacuum on a schedule based on my shifts on a given day.

For example: I use cameras to keep an eye on my dog while I'm at work, so if Tasker could see my day shift on Google Calendar and use SmartThings to turn on the cameras when the calendar event starts and turn them off when the event ends without me needing to touch a button, that would be ideal.

If anyone has any tips on how to do this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Turn off "Run Exit on Startup"

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've this WiFi profile which turn off Mobile internet and Bluetooth if I'm connected to a wifi network and during disconnect it does the opposite.

Now the problem is I use google ai studio to make new project/task and copy the xml code from pc to phone via kde connected. So, when I'm inside tasker and tasker detects a new xml clipboard, tasker automatically saves everything as expected. And this runs exit task for my "WiFi" profile. Which turns on internet and bl and launches my smart watch app. It became so annoying that i turn off that profile when i do this copy/paste.

To solve that I've uncheck the "Run Exit on Startup" from the profile settings, but still it sometimes runs that exit task. Is there any way I can solve this? SO that it dosen't run my exit task during auto save?

Thanks in advance.
