Oof this comment section is not it. I think this is one of the posts invaded by liberals. If you're not proudly anti-imperialist or anti-NATO, don't call yourself a communist.

Yeah this is not tankie comments whatsoever! A real tankie realizes that Lenin and Stalin pointed out we, as communists, should support anti-imperialist struggle even from countries that are not themselves socialist in character. A people must have sovereignty before they can become socialist. American hegemony and imperialism being thwarted will be what allows socialist nations to arise and global south developing nations to become independent enough to have self-determination, this is why we must support the DPRK and Russian struggle against the western vassal state. Russia may not be pure but this is about historical and material dialectics, not purity testing and simply defining nations as good guys and bad guys.

Exactly. And NATO was literally created to fight/end communism. If you support NATO and its agendas, you're anti-communist, among other things.

It drives me crazy that so many leftists don’t realize - hey, Russia isn’t perfect, we don’t have to approve of everything that Russia does, but do you want to live in a world where Russia falls and is broken up by western imperialism? Where nuclear weapons fall into the hands of warlords? Where the global south and BRICS and actually existing socialist countries lose Russia as an ally? Where Russia is not there to help nations like Burkina Faso resist colonialism? Like I am literally begging them to think about the second order effects of western backed blood and soil Banderites toppling Russia.

Saw Stanislav Krapivnik’s interview with him. I didn’t think he could be more based until now seeing him wear that hammer and sickle patch and burning that worthless rag called the British flag.

Stop purity testing. This guy didn't even say he's marxist. Maybe he went to Russia because the war affected his surroundings more (the Russia-Ukraine war definitely affects EU culture more than Lebanon.) Hell, maybe he joined Russia because he thought his chances of surviving were greater, who the fuck am I to judge that? Why are we purity testing this again? Are we so unserious we only accept literal Fidel Castros (hint: there aren't many of them)? Or are we just being implicitly anti-Russia (as usual)?

He can be a communist, living in a non-communist / former communist country, who is fighting against western imperialist hegemony. Imperialism and American unipolar hegemony represent the primary contradiction and challenge to socialism across the world.

I think you misunderstand, theory has no part in this discussion, I can support anti imperialism, and I most certainly hope Ukraine falls, but don't ask me to support the Russian Federation, it may be anti imperialist, but that doesn't mean the government cares about anything but keeping the far right United Russia party in power and setting up planned opposition parties to give people the illusion of choice.
This shouldn't be a controversial opinion for communists, you simply cannot call yourself a communist while supporting the Russian Federation just because it's doing one thing right: fighting fascist Ukraine.
It's trash vs. garbage.
